Frail Bee Gees star Robin Gibb is bravely battling liver cancer.

The clean-living singer, 61, was *diagnosed several months ago and has been forced to cancel a number of high-profile *appearances.

This week he was taken to hospital by ambulance after a 999 call was made from his £8million mansion.

Robin’s mother Barbara, 91, and elder brother Barry have flown over from America to be with the star, who was allowed home after spending five hours at the hospital on Tuesday.

A close family friend last night said his condition was “not good” and wife Dwina had not left his sickbed. But Robin had been boosted by the support from his family, friends and fans from around the world.

Dwina has been enquiring into *alternative treatments and arranged for him visit to a London clinic in *addition to hospital treatment and tests and visits from a leading doctor.

As the family of the singer – jointly worth £110million with brother Barry – gather at his home they are praying his health will improve.

In a recorded TV interview Robin tonight talks of being unable to accept twin brother Maurice’s death and says he will “bump into him one day”.

The friend said: “Robin is not good and there is a lot of concern for him. You can use your wealth to call in the best experts but sometimes no amount of fame, prestige and money can change things when it comes to cancer.

“But Robin is a strong character, he is a fighter and has been encouraged by all the online messages from his fans. Dwina is doing everything *possible and hasn’t left his side.

“There will be difficult times ahead but Robin will never give up and his loving family will make sure he has everything he needs. There is *frustration because Robin has always looked after himself. He doesn’t drink, eats well and exercises daily.”

Robin’s elderly mother Barbara had flown back to the UK from her home in Miami before his *hopsital admission *after bringing forward a planned visit at Christmas.

She is staying with Robin and Dwina, who have been *married for 26 years, at their 12th Century home in Thame, Oxon,

Barry, 65, has also come back with wife Linda. They are staying at their home in *Buckinghamshire, making regular visits to Robin’s house, where son Robin-John, 28, also lives.

The Gibbs’ youngest brother Andy died aged 30 in 1988 following a battle against cocaine addiction and in 2003 Maurice died aged 53. The Bee Gees, who sold 200million records worldwide with hits such as Night Fever and Stayin’ Alive, disbanded after Maurice died.

A friend said: “It is incredibly sad for Barbara. First she lost her son Andy, then Maurice and now she has to cope with seeing Robin like this.

“It is a lot for a mother, particular of her age, to deal with. Barry has also been there for his brother and a lot of friends have been rallying round.”

Last month Robin was taken by ambulance to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, 12 miles from his home, with severe stomach pains. He was treated for inflammation of the colon and discharged after four days.

He had to withdraw from recording a Remembrance Sunday edition of the BBC’s Songs of Praise to perform the official Poppy Appeal song.

A week later he was too ill to attend a meeting with David Cameron to launch a Poppy Appeal version of the Bee Gees’ hit I’ve Gotta Get A Message To You, although he made an appearance on the Alan *Titchmarsh show later that day. In April, Robin had to cancel a US tour after similar pains. Last year he had emergency surgery to remove part of his intestine

In a recorded discussion on Sky Arts tonight he describes his bandmate’s death at 53 as “something I haven’t accepted”. He tells new show Living The Life: “I just imagine he is out there somewhere and I will bump into him one day.”

The singer, who recently put his Miami mansion up for sale, has two children, Spencer, 38, and Melissa, 36, by his first wife Molly Hullis. He also has a three-year-old daughter with his live-in housekeeper Claire Yang.

Robin has spoken of how he leads a healthy life and gave up alcohol *“decades ago”.

Dwina, a druid priestess, has said she is trying to persuade him to visit a *Native American medicine man. She said: “This incredible Indian tribe introduced Robin and I to something called Spider Medicine that *apparently contains properties that can help you get well from certain untreatable *illnesses.”

Robin’s spokesman Ken Graydon said the family did not wish to comment.

Singer Robin Gibb is "on the road to recovery" after he was treated in hospital last month.

The Bee Gees star posted a message on his blog thanking fans for their "love, kindness and support".

He wrote: "It is humbling and I take your prayers and good wishes for my health very seriously. I have been very unwell and am now on the road to recovery, and your prayers and wishes are a great tonic to me. I believe because of you I will get well and my deepest love goes out to you all."

Gibb was treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for an inflamed colon after complaining of abdominal pains.

The 61-year-old star cancelled a series of performances in Brazil this year on the advice of doctors.

Last year he underwent surgery for a blocked intestine, the same condition which led to the death of his twin brother Maurice in 2003.

The group, which also included elder brother Barry, notched up dozens of chart hits in a career that spanned five decades.

Sorry but he looks far from being on the road to recovery. It is a horrible thing to think about but I fear he may not have long to go.

It's tragic Perdy really tragic. The Bee Gees are legends in the music business and have been responsible for some of the best loved songs over the years. It is just so sad that Barry has lost two brothers and he could loose another one in the coming months.

Robin Gibb is receiving chemotherapy as he continues to fight an aggressive form of liver cancer.

The Bee Gees star was rushed to hospital last November for treatment, and was also treated by doctors for severe abdominal pains in April 2011.

The Mirror quotes a friend of Gibb as saying: "He's very strong willed – if anyone can beat this, it's Robin."

The musician has also accepted a new role as patron of Hove MP Mike Weatherley's 'Rock The House' initiative, which champions both the UK live music industry and artists' intellectual property rights.

Gibb was unable to attend the launch on Wednesday (January 18) in person, but his long-term friend Mick Garbutt said at the event: "He would have absolutely loved to be here in person, but unfortunately that simply hasn't been possible with his health.

"It is true to say he is very unwell, but he's an incredible man and enjoys lots of support from his close circle of friends and family, and particularly from his wife Dwina."

Garbutt added: "He is receiving regular chemotherapy and fighting hard. He is also heading home to be with his family at every possible opportunity as that's where he feels comfortable, but the reality is that he is very unwell. He has set himself a goal to be at the gala performance of his first classical composition in April and everybody around him hopes that he will be there."

Gibb is currently working on the Titanic Requiem, which was commissioned to mark the centenary of the ship's sinking in April 1912.

A representative for the 62-year-old said in a statement: "Robin is at the London Clinic as part of his treatment and rehabilitation."

Sources told The Sun that doctors have been "astounded at his response to treatment".

Gibb has been receiving chemotherapy following his diagnosis last year.

However, the 'How Deep Is Your Love' star claimed recently that he "feels fantastic" and was deemed well enough to perform at a London Palladium charity concert on February 13.

Robin Gibb was reportedly in a coma last night (April 13), sparking fears he has just days to live.

The Bee Gees star's family remain at his bedside as he continues to battle colon and liver cancer and pneumonia.

Wife Dwina, brother Barry, daughter Melissa, and sons Spencer and Robin-John are holding a vigil at a private hospital in Chelsea, West London, The Sun reports.

Doctors are said to be concerned that the singer has a secondary tumour.

"Our prayers are with Robin. He has kept so positive and always believed he could beat this. Sadly, it looks like he has developed pneumonia, which is very bad in his situation," a friend said.

"If there is anyone you would put money on pulling through such a dire situation, it would be Robin because he is a fighter. But this is a battle he will struggle to win."

The 62-year-old was diagnosed with colon and liver cancer last year following bowel surgery, but later revealed he was in remission after chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

He missed the London premiere of his classical score The Titanic Requiem, written alongside son Robin-John and performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, on Thursday (April 12).

A spokesman declined to comment on reports of Gibb's health.

The Bee Gees star was reported to have passed away earlier today (May 20) after a lengthy battle with colon and liver cancer.

Gibb's family confirmed the news in a statement, saying: "The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery.

"The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time."

Gibb had been diagnosed with colon and liver cancer in 2011, from which he announced he had recovered in February. In April, he suffered a pneumonia setback before slipping into a coma, but was last week revealed to be awake and responsive in hospital.

Before his cancer diagnosis, Gibb had been working on classical composition The Titanic Requiem to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the disaster, but was too ill to attend its premiere in April in London.

Robin Gibb, along with brothers Maurice and Barry, formed the Bee Gees in 1958, with the trio's best-known hits including 'Saturday Night Fever', 'Stayin' Alive' and 'How Deep Is Your Love'.

The Bee Gees earned nine Grammys and inductions into the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame during a career spanning six decades and millions of records sold worldwide.

Gibb is survived by Barry, wife Dwina, daughters Melissa and Snow Robin and sons Spencer and Robin-John.

Sad news, RIP Robin
