View Full Version : Leah and Elijah
Home and Away star Ada Nicodemou has expressed delight over her character's new romance storyline.
Fans will soon see Nicodemou's alter ego Leah Patterson-Baker falling in love with new arrival Elijah Johnson, played by Water Rats actor Jay Laga'aia.
Nicodemou told Sunrise: "There's a whole lot of love in the Bay and I get a love interest. It's nice and it's really fun and happy and comedy - a lot of warm and fuzzy moments.
"And it's Jay Laga'aia and I'm loving working with him as well. It's all happy times ahead. We're moving away from the darker storylines into lighter stuff."
Home and Away's leading producer Cameron Welsh recently revealed that romance plots would be one main focus on the soap this year.
His comments came after the show's long-standing actor Ray Meagher argued that Summer Bay had seen "too many guns and balaclavas and bank robberies and that sort of thing".
The year will also continue to be an eventful one for Leah Patterson-Baker. As we teased at a few months back, Leah will find a new long-term boyfriend in the shape of Reverend Elijah - and it is hoped that the couple will become a popular pairing with fans. However Leah will also have to face her past, as we this year learn the truth about what happened to her first husband Vinnie, last heard to be in witness protection in 2004...
Jay Laga'aia has revealed that he didn't think he was due back to Home and Away for another week until he received a panicked phone call.
The actor's character Rev Elijah Johnson had left Summer Bay to work as a missionary in Africa and had been filming another TV show in the meantime.
Laga'aia told Inside Soap: "I'd just finished filming another big TV show called Bed Of Roses and thought I didn't start back on Home and Away until the following week.
"Then I got a panicked phone call from the set asking, 'Where are you?' They were actually expecting me back that day."
Laga'aia explained that he was surprised to find out that his character returns with an African wife, Grace, and a teenage stepson, Thabo.
He added: "I hadn't read any of the scripts. And then suddenly I'm back in Summer Bay and married to an African girl. I just had to try and get my head around everything and then run with it!"

I'm not a fan of Rev Elijah Johnson
I am a fan, Rev Elijah is Bi-winning a win here, a win there = Winning! Jay Laga'aia is an awesome actor and it doesn't hurt to look at him either. I'm interested in seeing where his character is going with his current faith and relationship struggles (however, in the end he has to be with Leah right? Unless she decides she's had enough of his commitment issues towards her and VJ).
It's brilliant to finally see an ethnically diverse cast, how long has it taken??? Let's hope that Grace and Thabo have some decent dialogue coming up so we can explore the characters and make them three dimentional.
And come on it's about time we had some minorities as series regulars after all this is 2011.
I'm a diehard, I've been watching since the first episode to the present day, instead of rushing from school, I know rush from work. ;-D

Hey
I certainly didn't mean to cause offence, I was jesting!!!!
I sincerely apologise and did not expect anyone to take my troll comment seriously.
I'm glad to see Elijah back.
Home and Away's Ada Nicodemou doesn't think Leah will ever forgive Elijah for getting married.
Single mother Leah still loves Elijah and is broken-hearted that he has returned to Summer Bay with a wife, but despite his efforts, she'll never rekindle their romance while he is married to Grace.
Ada revealed: "Leah fell very hard for Elijah and they formed a life together and planned a future, but having said that Leah would never take Elijah back as a married man.
"I think he has hurt her too many times. VJ is also hurt by Elijah and Leah would do anything to protect her son from getting hurt.
"She is very upset! She was really looking forward to seeing Elijah and who knows, maybe exploring her feelings for him. She definitely didn't think he would get married. That came out of the blue."
But Ada is delighted to have Jay Laga'aia, who plays Elijah, back at Home and Away.
She said: "Jay and I love working together and I think we work together really well. It's great having him back."

Home and Away's Ada Nicodemou doesn't think Leah will ever forgive Elijah for getting married.
It was Leah who told Elijah they couldn't be together before she came back from Africa! Leah annoys me, she's so self-righteous.
Home and Away's Jay Laga'aia has confessed he felt haunted by the dead husbands of Leah Patterson-Baker.
The soap star's character Elijah Johnson was engaged to Leah, who arrived in Summer Bay in a wedding dress after fleeing one marriage, and has been married to Vinnie Patterson and Dan Baker, who both died on the soap.
Jay told Inside Soap magazine: "When I started Home and Away there was a mantelpiece in Leah's house with photos of both her dead husbands - and everyone called her the black widow.
"I went to the producers and said 'I want those photos gone!'
"Unless you're a Martian you couldn't fail to fall in love with Ada [Nicodemou who plays Leah] if you meet her in person. She's so beautiful and vivacious, and has a lot of energy.
"I think maybe her (Leah's) husbands died because they couldn't keep up with her."
Jay admits he'd love to see Elijah and Leah rekindle their romance, but perhaps their being apart is better for the viewers.
He said: "If you look at old US shows like Moonlighting, the chemistry died when the leading characters got together.
"For now, it seems that they're pushing us apart so the spark stays alive. I'm not sure about the future - that's up to the gods of the script department."

^ What chemistry? I never seen any between him and Leah

Me neither. I find the whole Leah/Elijag/Grace saga boring.
