    The Voice (UK show)

Dannii Minogue could reportedly join a BBC version of hit American singing competition The Voice.

The NBC programme is based on the original Dutch format The Voice Of Holland. The US show sees Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton mentoring hopefuls they chose during blind auditions - which saw the panel facing away from the aspiring artists during their auditions.

The Sun claims that Minogue, who quit ITV's The X Factor over the weekend, could feature on the panel for a British version.

"Bosses really want Dannii, as she was hugely popular on the X Factor and really knows her stuff," an insider told the paper. "She mentored Matt Cardle to the crown last year and is really good with contestants. She would be great on The Voice."

However, a source told the paper that bosses at the broadcaster know how important it is to create the right line-up.

"It is a really big hit in the US and we are looking to do our own version for next year," they said. "But the casting of judges is really important. It is all about getting the right people involved in order to make it work."

It was previously claimed that Minogue is in discussions about new television opportunities following her decision to leave Simon Cowell's competition.

Robbie Williams is reportedly being lined up to join the UK version of singing competition The Voice.

The show, which will be launched by the BBC next year, sees celebrity coaches turn their backs on performers as they sing, judging contestants solely on their voice. It has been a hit in the US, where Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton mentor the singers.

Williams joining the UK version could see him on a rival show to Take That bandmate Gary Barlow, who is replacing Simon Cowell on this year's X Factor.

An insider told The Sun: "They still have a healthy rivalry and this would kick in if they were on opposing shows.

"Robbie would be great, particularly with his rivalry with Gary."

Adele is also allegedly in the frame to become a judge. Producers of The Voice are apparently pushing ahead with plans to launch the show following rumours that The X Factor is in crisis.

Dannii Minogue will reportedly not feature on a UK version of The Voice, should it be picked up by the BBC.

Reports had previously suggested that the former X Factor judge could be among the mentors chosen to appear on a potential British edition of the competition, based on the Dutch format The Voice Of Holland.

The hit US version features Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, who are currently whittling down their teams of eight chosen singers from the audition rounds.

However, it has now been claimed that Minogue, who announced that she was quitting her role on the ITV1 show earlier this month, will not be among the famous faces targeted to fill the UK positions.

"Dannii is so associated with The X Factor she wouldn't be right for us," a BBC insider told The Mirror.

A BBC spokesperson recently told Digital Spy that "no decision" has been made on whether the corporation will pick up a UK version of The Voice.

    The Voice (UK) 2012

Cheryl Cole is reportedly the BBC's top choice for the judging panel on the UK version of The Voice.

The Girls Aloud singer, who was axed from The X Factor USA last month, may already be in discussions for the role via her management, according to Metro.

A source said: "She is still lying low at the moment but there have been conversations with her management and things are moving forward.

"The BBC are hopeful she will commit."

It was announced yesterday that BBC One will debut The Voice in 2012, after noting the success of the US version.

BBC One controller Danny Cohen said: "I'm absolutely delighted that The Voice will be coming to the BBC. It's a big, exciting and warm-hearted series and will be a fantastic Saturday night event on BBC One."

Cheryl Cole had previously been tipped to defect to the BBC for The Voice last month. A source at the singer's record label had said: "Universal are heavily involved in recruiting judges for The Voice when it moves to the BBC and they are urging Cheryl to be the big star of that show."

Robbie Williams has also been rumoured to become a judge on the BBC One show as a possible rival to his Take That bandmate Gary Barlow, who has joined ITV's The X Factor.

BBC One controller Danny Cohen has revealed that the UK version of The Voice will not clash with ITV's rival show The X Factor when it airs in 2012.

Cohen announced yesterday that the BBC had acquired the rights to air The Voice next year, after reaching an agreement with creator John de Mol.

He told The Mirror that the show will avoid clashing with The X Factor next year, adding that he views the formats as two completely different shows.

He explained: "The Voice is a really stand-out format and it has got a lot of warmth and heart.

"It has got something in it for all ages with very high quality musicians involved. There is a real freshness to the fact you are picking people not on what they look like, just on how they sing.

"In terms of judges, we want a real range of musical styles, that is something they have done well in the States. I wouldn't like to compare the show to The X Factor, it is just a big new show for the BBC. And we will work hard to avoid our show clashing with The X Factor on ITV."

Cohen added that the BBC purchased The Voice in order to keep with the BBC's vision to entertain, as well as to educate.

"We have got Strictly Come Dancing as well, we want to provide really good Saturday night entertainment right through the year. The vision of the BBC is it is there to inform, educate and entertain and we take inform and educate very seriously, but we also take the entertain bit seriously.

"The BBC has a fantastic heritage of wonderful family entertainment on Saturday evenings.

"We buy in formats for shows very rarely, like The Apprentice, and we only do it when we think it is something really special and we can add something to it as the BBC, to make it even more special. So, every so often we will take something from abroad because we think it is worth it."

He revealed that he was glad to have fought off competition from ITV to buy the format.

"We were a little worried when ITV put in a bid but we fought really passionately for the show and worked hard to show how we felt, and hopefully that played a part when bigger bids came in."

Cheryl Cole is reportedly in negotiations for a judging role for The Voice.

Cheryl Cole will not be joining the UK version of The Voice as a coach, it has been reported.

The singer, who was axed from The X Factor USA in June, had been linked to a role on the new BBC talent show and her representatives held preliminary talks about the role.

However, BBC bosses have since decided that they want a completely fresh panel, meaning no previous talent show judges will appear on the The Voice, The Sun reports.

"Cheryl is liked by everyone at the Beeb but it soon became clear we should start completely fresh," a source told the paper.

"We've got the show for at least two years - it's a great opportunity to grow our own coaches. We will be signing big names."

Dannii Minogue was apparently ruled out of The Voice UK earlier this year because she is "so associated with The X Factor".

Jessie J has been confirmed as the first coach on The Voice UK.

The announcement was made on Chris Moyles's BBC Radio 1 breakfast show on Tuesday morning. Moyles made his team play a guessing game, with the 'Price Tag' musician joining in answering 'yes' and 'no' questions in a variety of comedy voices.

Explaining the 'blind auditions' format to listeners, Jessie J confirmed that the UK format will have four coaches - who are both judges and mentors - and each will choose ten hopefuls after facing away from the acts while they perform.

The singer also praised the 'blind auditions', adding: "I do think sometimes that a lot of people don't audition for these shows because... they don't feel they look like a popstar. I can't wait, I'm so excited about it."

Danny Cohen, controller of BBC One, said: "Jessie J is going to be an amazing coach on The Voice UK. She's a massive young star with a strong personality, and her recent MOBO nominations are testament to her musical and creative ability."

Jessie J added in a statement: "I'm excited to be a coach, inspiration and mentor and I jumped at the opportunity as it's all about 'the voice'."

Further coaches will be confirmed in due course. Musicians including Lenny Kravitz, Charlotte Church and Cheryl Cole have been linked to the programme.

The US version of the show - which is based on The Voice of Holland, an original Dutch format created by John de Mol - has performed well in the ratings. It will return for a second season on NBC immediately after the Super Bowl on February 5, 2012.

Coaches Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine will all return for the US show's second season.

Anyone with the right to live or work in the UK may register to audition for The Voice UK by signing up via the show's website. Open auditions will begin in London on October 31 and continue across the UK throughout November.

The Voice UK premieres on BBC One in spring 2012.
