Emmerdale star Will Ash has hinted that his character Caleb Miligan will change his approach towards his son Nicky after the show's shocking storyline twist.

The actor spoke out following the on-screen revelation that Nicky was responsible for violently pushing Caleb from a ravine last week.

Tuesday's episode confirmed Nicky's guilt as he paid a visit to his father in hospital. Caleb is still in an induced coma after the incident.

In a chat with Digital Spy and other press, Will suggested that Caleb genuinely regrets the lengths he went to when forcing Nicky to help him with his schemes, so he may be willing to forgive his son.

Will explained: "There's definitely a mountain for them to climb, but there's also a lot of remorse on Caleb's part.

"It's only now that he's got a bit of perspective, that he can see how badly he treated his son and that he needs to make up for that.

"Caleb is not a big one for apologising and admitting that he's wrong, so I don't think he's ever really going to say that to his son. But he will show that to him, and moving forward, I don't think he'd treat Nicky like that again."

On the possibility of Caleb forming a healthier relationship with Nicky if he survives the attack, Will said: "Caleb ultimately wants his son to be happy, and it's almost like it's made him realise that Nicky is not just a pawn in his game.

"They can have a relationship ? they can have a good, solid, loving, father-son relationship in Emmerdale, staying in the village."

Will also spoke about the possibility of more Miligan family members arriving soon.

"There's huge potential. We've talked about Caleb's ex-wife ? Nicky's mum ? so there's already a bit of a picture of that character even though she hasn't been in it. We've talked about her quite a lot," he said.

"Caleb said to Leyla about his kids, plural. We've never had that discussion with the producer, but Nicky might have siblings. Caleb might have other kids, so there's potential for those characters to come into it.

"I think it would be nice to flesh it out. There's a lot of backstory there."
