Surely Kush wasn't daft enough to fall for Phil's so called 'advice', apart from the fact that picking fights would scupper any chance of time off for good behaviour, it might even add time. Though that might be Phil's intent.

No, but Phil's 'advice' was that basically as soon as Kush was inside was to pick someone smaller and weaker (typical Phil cowardice) and beat the crap out of them. That's just an example of Phil being a cowardly would be thug and nothing else. It also would most likely mean that Kush could get an extended sentence at worst and at best lose chance at getting out early for good behaviour.
