    There is no such thing as an automatic divorce. You would still have to go through the courts, but if both parties are in agreement and there is no problems with custody of children or division of property it would be a fairly simple straightforward matter and would not really need a solicitor to be involved, but some people feel nervous about going through court procedures without professional legal help. There are organisations that could help at much lower fees though.
