Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has confirmed the outcome of Josh Tucker's trial.
Viewers have recently seen David appearing in court to give evidence against his rapist, as Josh (Ryan Clayton) is standing trial in relation to two other attacks.
David is also concerned for Shona, who is in hospital after the Christmas shooting drama.
Discussing the trial, Shepherd said that Josh will receive a 15-year prison sentence but David is much more focused on Shona's condition.
"When he gets the news that Josh has got 15 years, he's numb to it really," he explained. "It doesn't really mean anything to David because he can't share the news with Shona. She's his priority, so he brushes it off for now.
"All he can focus on is Shona and when she wakes up."
Shepherd added: "[David]'s been through so much. There's a lot of anger and frustration, then there are moments when he does lose it and break down.
"But despite all that, David is still determined to stick by Shona's side no matter what and is positive that she will make a full recovery."
Shona will emerge from her coma next week, but there is devastating news for David when he learns that she doesn't recognise him and has serious memory issues.
"The doctors start to say they've done all they can for Shona at this point and she needs more specialist help. David's adamant he'll be there every step of the way, he's not giving up on her," Shepherd said.
