1. Tough times for Ashey & Laurel!

Exes Laurel and Ashley head into 2016 as a couple. But problems loom as Ashley's health deteriorates and the type of dementia he has means he'll experience unannounced episodes that rob him o more of his faculties. That means doting Laurel will have to dig deep to find the strength to support Ashley without turning to her lethal vice: booze. Meanwhile, Harriet slopes off to lick her wounds, but will she cry on Bob's shoulder?

2. Unhappy families for Nicola!

Having jetted off to Dubai to run a spa and returned with hr tail between her legs, Nicola King decides a career is not for her, and opts to be a stay-at-home mum. It's not quite the fantasy she imagined it would be, though, especially when there are suddenly some unexpected mouths to feed!

3. Charity's back!

Charity Macey may be in prison, but her presence looms large in the village as she stirs things up. She'll be released some time in the new year and being in prison hasn't mellowed her in the slightest. With daughter Debbie gone, Charity will need to find somewhere to live. Then there's the matter of her children. How will Noah feel about suddenly having his mum back on the scene and will she want custody of baby Moses? 'It will be like one big hurricane has hit when Charity gets out of prison. Her presence will affect many, especially Cain and Moira,' says an insider.

4. Baby drama for Megan!

Megan Macey is due to give birth at some point soon and, no doubt, her no-good ex, Jai Sharma, will do anything to get his hands on their kid. We reckon Megan will find herself struggling to keep him at bay and she knows just how dangerous he can be. Remember, ruthless Jai has previously proved he'll stop at nothing to get access to his child and, in the past, he's resorted to kidnap and blackmail o deal with those who've crossed him. We think Megan should be very afraid...

5. Paddy's secret affair exposed?

Paddy Kirk's clandestine relationship with Tess heats up, but the love rat vet continues to make silly slip-ups that could alert Rhona to the truth. 'There's guilt and regret, but it's repeated behaviour and the time he spends with Tess, and the chats they have, means they start falling in love. However, he loves Rhona and he doesn't want her to find out,' Paddy actor Dominic Brunt tells Soaplife. All poor Rhona can think about is the adoption procedure and she's annoyed that Paddy isn't taking it as seriously as she'd hoped. He, in turn, feels the pressure and ends up confiding in someone about his affair. But that's dangerous, as tongues are notoriously loose in the village. Is Paddy about to be found out?

6. New love for Nikhil!

Nikhil Sharma looks saintly next to his twisted brother, Jai, and lovely Leyla Harding's been enjoying his company. When she realises Jai's sneering at them from the shadows, she decides to step things up a bit and pretends to be dating Nikhil, just to wind her ex up. However, faking a relationship means they end up spending more time together... so there's a chance that real feelings could develop. Who can blame her? Nikhil's rich and handsome!

7. Deadly duo Carly & Tracy!

Crafty Carly Hope and temptress Tracy Shankley fall out over a hot fella. But, after making up, the femme fatales work out they have more in common than they realised. Together, they concoct a 'foolproof' scam and they decide to go into business together. As individuals, neither of them is exactly a Lord Sugar protege. Together, though, they may well be a force to be reckoned with!

8. Not-so lonely Lisa!

Nobody would blame Lisa Dingle if she spent months crying into her pillow over husband Zak's infidelity with Joanie. But determined Lisa won't necessarily let this destroy her. 'Lisa won't be able to forgive hubby Zak immediately,' says Jane Cox, who plays the feisty Dingle matriarch. 'At the moment, she wants him to go away and never come back! However, the situation may not be as bad as betrayed Lisa thinks. Perhaps some good will come out of something so devastating.' And what will Zak do if Lisa takes it upon herself to give the dating scene another go?

They should be aired within the first 3 to 4 months of 2016 as episodes are usually filmed around 2 months in advance of broadcast ... some interesting stuff involving most villagers not just gay men!
