Exactly this! I don't have a problem with people disliking other characters. But I do have a problem when they think they should go down for what they have done while it's perfectly fine for others to get away with it. You can't have different rules for different characters.

But that would reflect reality ... some people do get away with everything whilst others get found out and punished

Following Charity Tate's confession that Ross Barton is in fact the father of baby Moses, expect her return to the village to be accompanied by fireworks. As he attempts to work on his relationship with girlfriend Debbie - the reappearance of her mother and his secret lover is only going to be bad news.

When exactly is she getting out then? Before new years day? would seem silly to kill Ross off just before that happens as obviously it's building up to be a reason for Debbie leaving.
We know that Moses ends up in hospital on Friday 18th Dec and is in a bad way after more high drama following a quick sip of bathwater at Debbie's hazardous house... Anyway, we also know that Debbie "visits" Charity on New Year's Day 2016 (probably at the prison then). What we haven't been told yet is what happens with Charity between these two dates.

What I think might happen is that the prison might allow Charity to have temporary release on special licence from prison for several days after Friday 18th in case Moses doesn't pull through [he will...], so I guess Charity could stay at Debbie's house for some time, maybe under night curfew, no alcohol, etc, during some of 21-25 Dec, when she isn't at the hospital. I'm guessing that Debbie might find Ross and Charity canoodling or even more to add to Debbie's growing problems with Ross?

    1) Spoilers say that Debbie finds out on Wednesday 30th Dec about Ross's involvement with the (Robert's) shooting. Maybe this triggers some sort of PTSD reaction in Debbie from her involvement with Cameron?

    2) Spoilers say Robert turns the gun on Ross on Thursday 31st Dec. Maybe Robert doesn't shoot or maybe Ross is only wounded. Whatever happens, I reckon that Debbie will afterwards know about this too. We know from previous history for Robert that he has nearly shot Aaron before (but hit Paddy instead at the lodge) and that Robert pushed Katie by accident to her death, and how Robert tried to suffocate Paddy in the grain pit, amongst many other dodgy storylines, so Robert definitely has a wild impulsive streak and should have a big need for payback for the guy who shot him nearly dead at the back of the Woolpack last September. Although Robert has done some bad things himself in the past, he does have a strange charm about him which helps him get through life and so he remains capable of anything and scot-free for now. I'm not sure that the same can be said for Ross though, we'll see.

    3) The spoiler for Friday 1st Jan says "Debbie visits Charity, and the experience leaves her determined to leave the village for good." I'm guessing that Charity blames Debbie for Moses being harmed in the bathroom and that Charity will also talk about her previous love experiences with and feelings for Ross?

So Debbie's problems seem to peak by New Year's Day 2016.

It does look as if the big reason why Debbie leaves Emmerdale is that Charity and Ross have both done enough by then to make Debbie leave Emmerdale and everyone, as mentioned on yesterday's unrealitytv website:

Emmerdale Spoilers: Ghost of Coronation Street Christmas past arrives just as Debbie leaves!

    by Lynn Connolly
    3rd December 2015

Well, we’re going to see turmoil for Debbie Dingle when her mum Charity gets between Debbie and Ross – he is of course the father of Charity’s baby Moses – which is a plotline that will see Debbie leaving the village for a few months. The character has been temporarily written out as Charley Webb, who plays Debbie, is going on maternity leave.

Ross won't die in the coming months, Rik Makarem who plays Nikhil said in an interview that there is going to be a Ross/Nikhil feud in the new year. Regarding Charity, a few brief spoilers have hinted that she'll be "Knocking on Cain's door at Christmas", so she must be in the village around that time.

On 29th December, Detective Sergeant Hart visits Mulberry Cottage, where Ross is living with Debbie and the kids, to question him about the warehouse robbery. During the meeting, things get noticed (Sarah's new trainers, TV Times, 19 Dec 2015-1 Jan 2016, "but they get more than they bargained for when they find a clue that links Ross to Robert's shooting") and DS Hart later returns with a search warrant. A house search reveals evidence that Ross was near the back of the pub on September 25th when Robert was shot. [TW: On the night of Robert's shooting, the police did find a partial footprint at the back of Pear Tree Cottage which hasn't been mentioned much since then but maybe this now comes back to haunt Ross? I'm guessing that when the police search Debbie's house, they find (or Ross is even wearing) a shoe/boot with the same/similar sole pattern and shoe size as the footprint found on September 25th. This seems to me to be a little dodgy for evidence though, as it can't be certain as to what the exact time was when the footprint was made.] Spoilers say that Debbie gives Ross a cast-iron alibi for Ross for the time when Robert was shot, so Ross, if arrested, must get released from police custody pending further enquiries (Radio Times has spoiled that Ross is arrested on suspicion of shooting Robert, but no date of arrest is stated.). I suppose that, if she was really pressed one day, Debbie could always say then that she was a little confused about when Ross came into her house on the night that Robert was shot. [TW: Ross actually came into Debbie's house minutes after the shooting, with just enough of a time gap to get from the garden behind Pear Tree Cottage, then presumably down the back lane, past the garage and up the front street to Debbie's house.]

DS spoilers say for 31st December that "Later, Pete is troubled to learn that Debbie gave Ross a false alibi for the shooting, but will he tell her the truth? Not long afterwards, Ross is shaken when Robert appears from the shadows and pulls out a gun. Soon it all comes to a head between Debbie and Ross..." Maybe Debbie disturbs the scene between Robert and Ross and it ends as "unfinished business" for Robert and Ross for the short-term?

As I wrote in a previous post here on soapboards yesterday, Robert and Ross's deal could be just to promise each other that they'll keep quiet about the things each knows about the other. But, of course, the only really silent man is a dead man and things usually/always eventually get found out in Emmerdale, so I really can't see this type of "won't tell" deal working that well in practice really The actual deal could go beyond this "won't tell" one though. Maybe Robert gets Ross to promise that Ross will leave the village "or else"?

Whatever happens, Debbie is going to leave on New Year's Day 2016 and Ross is going to be a very unpopular guy in Emmerdale Village. His list of friends will most likely be empty by then and that safe prison cell might not be such a bad place after all, either there or somewhere else away from Emmerdale Village. The main enemies for Ross will include:

Cain - Daddy's little girl has left until who knows when (TW: I expect Debbie to be away for about 8 months.)
    Robert - for many reasons.
Chas/Paddy/Gordon - for leading Aaron astray again and making Gordon provide a false alibi for Aaron at the robbery.
    All of the other Sugdens.
    All of the other Dingles.
Most likely all of the other Bartons (even Emma?)
David - always had a soft spot for "our Debbeh".

As Charity usually follows Debbie's way of thinking, I'm not convinced that Charity will have much time for Ross either after New Year's Day 2016. Maybe Charity and Cain are an item again real soon?

Time will tell what happens next!

Maybe it's time for some New Year's resolutions?

Ross: "I must turn over a new leaf." (=maybe the gold leaf at the nearest Hotton jewellers shop...but then again, maybe not )

I'm beginning to think that Debbie has all three kids in her car with her when she drives away from Mulberry Cottage on New Year's Day.

She's leaving in a hurry because she doesn't trust Ross so taking all of the kids would make sense, I suppose.
