Why would Bernice marry a gay guy? It is obvious Lawrence is not straight he is sexually attracted to young men. He was attracted to Connor and Robert.

Lawrence likes the outward respectablity of
marriage -tho his stronger feelings are for
    younger men.

Bernice likes money and despite not being
    very young is gullible!

    A not uncommon pairing!!

It also seems Lawrence has been shamed by his sexuality owing to his treatment in prison as he talked about last week and the stigma at the time and want's to be respected by the community in which he lives also

ITV has confirmed the scheduling details for Emmerdale's exciting rewind episode.

The special flashback edition will air on Thursday, October 22 at 8pm in an hour-long timeslot, revealing what really happened on the night of Robert Sugden's shooting.

A normal episode of the show will also air an hour beforehand at 7pm, meaning that fans can enjoy 90 minutes of Emmerdale drama that night.

Emmerdale announced plans for the rewind special last week, promising that the identity of Robert's shooter would be revealed in the episode.

With a number of suspects still in the frame, viewers will be able to see the crucial moments which led up to the shooting and what happened next.

The flashback will also reveal two other secrets which will change life in the village forever, setting the scene for an explosive winter in the Dales and lives for the villagers will never be the same again!

Emmerdale's producer Kate Oates recently commented: "This won't be the first time Emmerdale has broken its 'house style' of storytelling, but it will be the first time we've told a story in a non-linear way.

"What makes this 'rewind' episode special is that we won't just learn who shot Robert, but two other big secrets that will propel the show into an exciting, emotional and dramatic winter."

Deleted my post above. Got mixed up. So the Friday after the rewind ep it is actually continuing from the shooting? So it's like the next day. Is that right?

My impression is that the TV episodes for Monday-Friday for 19th-23rd October are the usual ongoing Emmerdale storylines and the 'rewind' episode is Emmerdale Extra, a special one-hour inserted episode for the 43rd anniversary of Emmerdale first airing on TV. The 'rewind' episode, I think, is just for TV viewers to see who Robert's shooter really was and to shed some light on how some future storylines for two or more Emmerdale characters start off as a consequence of what they did during the time of Robert's shooting. My suspicions right now for these 'extra' character storylines include a Tess/Paddy affair and Ashley setting-up something with Laurel about cot-death baby Daniel. Although we know from spoilers that TV viewers will be shown who shot Robert, nothing has been said about whether the villagers or police will see and know what TV viewers will see (so we will maybe be privileged viewers and just us will be 'in on the know'?).

I still think right now that it was Lachlan who shot Robert from behind the bushes behind the Woolpack on Friday evening for September 25th. I also still think that Robert was carrying a ball-bearing-type gun which dropped out of his pocket after he'd been shot by his shooter, and that it was Robert's gun that Aaron found when he ran onto the shooting scene about 20 seconds after Robert had been shot in front of Chas.

Ross still has no alibi for the time that Robert was shot. He is my #2 shooter suspect but much less likely to be the shooter than Lachlan is, based on present information and spoilers. My thoughts right now about Ross is that had planned to kill Pete at Butler's Farm during the evening of September 25th but something made him change his mind. Whether some other 'job' came up or he saw Robert had been shot and scared him enough to realise that this could have been him shooting Pete has yet to be seen. Whatever happened for Ross that night, he went to see Debbie to tell her that he was leaving Emmerdale for now, maybe forever. I suspect that Ross seeing that Robert had been shot (by someone other than Ross?) made Ross come to his senses and realise that this was how he could have ended Pete's life, so he did what was only to be expected then and that was to leave Emmerdale, at least for a while, so as to prevent Ross doing something regrettable lifelong. Spoilers tell that Ross returns to Emmerdale on October 22nd, the day of the 'rewind' episode airing. The ITV spoilers for Friday episode October 23rd say "Pete is horrified to learn the truth". Maybe Ross tells Pete then that Ross really meant to kill Pete on the night of September 25th but Ross changed his mind, maybe because he saw that Robert had been shot and Ross then had second thoughts about doing something like this to Pete? As for "some other 'job' came up" for Ross that night, maybe Ross called around to Home Farm and talked to Lawrence who gave Ross his gun back on condition that Ross was to later kill Robert as Lawrence's hired hitman? Maybe Ross' payment for 'doing the deed' on Robert was Chrissie's bracelet (obviously valuable as it was usually kept in the Home Farm safe).

I am certain that I can think of many outlandish storylines involving minor Emmerdale characters and outsiders who were the one that shot at Robert. I really do hope that every loyal Emmerdale TV viewer is not ultimately conned by Emmerdale storyliners to accept, and have to live with, any wacky and wierd explanations of who shot Robert on September 25th and why this was done. The simplest stories are usually for the best long-term for any soap, I reckon.

The way I understand it is that the rewind episode will be a repeat of what we have already seen but with revelation of who the shooter is and a couple of other things. On the following Friday we carry on from the normal episode shown before the rewind but a lot of things will be much clearer to the viewers

    Soap spoilers: Emmerdale murder plan

By Sophie Dainty and Daniel Kilkelly
    Sunday, Oct 11 2015, 00:01 BST

Meanwhile, Robert Sugden's life will rest in Cain Dingle's hands on Emmerdale as he threatens to cut the villain's oxygen tube.

Cain (Jeff Hordley) comes up with the shocking plan of action after his nephew Aaron Livesy has been arrested for Robert's recent shooting.

Determined to save Aaron from a long prison sentence by shifting suspicion elsewhere, Cain recruits Adam Barton to help him kill Robert and ensure that Chrissie takes the fall for it.

Adam is shocked by the scheme and shares his concerns with Cain's father Zak, but a determined Cain prepares to go ahead with his plan as he hides himself from the hospital CCTV with a large teddy.

After Cain distracts a nurse, he snatches a cordless phone from reception and lures Chrissie into his trap by making a bogus call 'from the hospital' and getting her to come in.

However, as Cain prepares to cut Robert's oxygen tube, he is stopped in his tracks when Zak arrives suddenly and interrupts him. Can Zak talk him out of it, or will Cain's determination to save his family spell the end for Robert?
