    Cool Coker and Son"s"

Am the only one who suspects Vincent is Les's son and that's why he has Coker and Son's' above his Funeral Parlour--- and why he keeps saying his affair with Vincent's mother is "complicated"??????

Not at all, it's a popular theory elsewhere on the internet. I think it's entirely possible because there's definitely more to Les and Claudette's relationship than just an affair.

I remember Claudette saying to Vincent that there hadn't been anyone since his father (they were talking about her love life at the time). If she is romantically involved with Les, that line's a dead giveaway that he's Vincent's dad.

I don't think Vincent is Les's son. Vincent is quite clearly coloured rather than half-caste, which he would be if Les were his father. (I don't mean that in a racist way at all; I didn't know how to get the point across without being direct.)

Aside from that, Coker and Sons has just celebrated its centenary. I think it's a fair assumption that the company would have been named by the original founders.

Absolutely, Kim. It's been Coker and Son for a hundred years, so unless Les and Vincent are very old.......

With regards to Vincent's skin colour, of course it'd be unusual if he had a white father but it's not genetically impossible. Skin colour is determined by a number genes, so it's possible for the children of a black mother and white father to have skin colours anywhere on the scale between their parents'. Also, the writers could make it more likely by giving Les a black ancestor.

The EE fans who favour the theory that Les is Vincent's father think the name "Coker and Sons" was chosen very deliberately by DTC because it'll turn out Les has a secret son.

I'm not saying I favour this theory, just that it's a possibility, and Claudette's line I quoted above (that she hadn't been with a man since Vincent's father) seemed very deliberate and made me think the theory had some merit.

Hey yea, maybe Sharon's father is his Les's son too, (it's possible!!) and then she is Vincent's half sister, ohhh can you imagine how the fall out of that would be, poor Birdie

Not even DTC could make the ages work in that scenario lol.

However, keeping to the theme of possible if unlikely theories about Vincent's parentage, how about Claudette and Gavin as the parents of twins: Sharon and Vincent! (Richard Blackwood doesn't look it but he's actually in his 40s!) Claudette could have had Sharon adopted because she couldn't pass her off as being her husband's child. The criminal Gavin sounds far more Claudette's type than the rather eccentric Les anyway.

What fun family get-togethers that twisted lot would have - especially with the addition of the resurrected Kathy...

(BTW, if anyone thinks I'm talking complete nonsense, google "twins of different races" and you'll find lots of articles and pictures of mixed race twins who look as though they're different races. I haven't come across an example as different looking as Sharon and Vincent, but hey, EE's long past the point of claiming to be realistic! )

I think the name Coker and Sons was chosen by Bryan Kirkwood. I'll see if I can find a clip.

Yes, you're right. I just watched Les' introduction on 9th January 2012 on youtube.

Still, there have been other hints about the Les/Vincent theory. As I said, it's one of several possibilities floating around the EE internet community about what's going on between Les and Claudette.
