Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor has insisted that her character Sally Webster will not be reuniting with her former husband Kevin.

Upcoming scenes will see Tim Metcalfe pop the question to Sally, but reports over the weekend suggested that the old spark between Sally and Kevin could reignite when they share a kiss.


However, Dynevor has insisted that Sally's future is with Tim, adding that it is the right direction for the character to go in.

Speaking to The Sun, she said: "Of course part of me did want Sally and Kevin to get back together, because I enjoy working with Michael Le Vell so much.

"But once they'd introduced Tim, I suddenly thought there was a different dimension to Sally. And if they had put Sally and Kevin back together, what would we have done? I don't really know where we could have gone with it.

"It's the perfect scenario that Kevin and Tim get on so well and I'm in the middle. I love the fact that's happened because I love working with Michael and I didn't want to stop working with him. I love the dynamic with Tim and Sally too."

Despite believing that Sally and Tim are a good match, Dynevor also teased that there will be no happily ever after for the pair.

She said: "I'm really pleased they're going to get married - they really like each other - but you know there's no way they're going to live happily ever after.

"They're going to drive each other insane and I like the drama and the humour that has to offer. You can never give Sally what she wants, because then there are no stories.

"You can't let her run Underworld and you can't let her have the dream man, because she wouldn't be Sally if everything was perfect."

Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor has reflected on her 30 years on the soap, discussing everything from Sally Webster's love life to battling cancer at the same time as her character.

The actress appeared on Lorraine today (January 28), where she discussed the highs and lows of her three decades on the show.

Discussing whether Sally could ever reunite with ex-husband Kevin, Dynevor said: "[Her relationship with Tim] works really well but what I love is that her and Kevin are still friends. They get on really well and I think she still really loves him​.

"He is part of her life and she's got two children with him, so who knows? But she is very happy with Tim at the moment."
