Confirmed by ITV as well. I can't believe it. 60 is so young. Will miss Deirdre Barlow. She was a character. I imagine there will be a lot of upset at corrie after this as she was such a big part of the show for so long. They will be devastated.

Very sad to hear of Anne Kirkbride's passing--she may have been nicknamed "Dreary", but her character was one of the greats on Corrie. My condolences to her family and castmates.

Shocked & stunned, a massive part of Corrie and a soap legend. A key figure of the show ever since i began watching as a kid. RIP Anne

So Sad - she was a lovely lady - I met her once - Sue Nicholls will be devastated - they were very close friends.

I am in shock and saddened by this and I am not the biggest Corrie fan, RIP, a big loss to her family and friends and the show itself

Wow! What a shock. There was never any indication that it was this serious. So sad. A great actress and a great character. She will be very badly missed.
