    sorry parkerman -I must have missed
    the bit where it was said it was a Lasting
    power of Attorney - which does have to
    be registered with Office of Public Guardian.

    there are many different sorts -general ordinary
    lasting enduring etc . Different names in different
    parts of UK - different rules & powers to cover
    all situations from.permanent impairment down
    to short- term problem.

    It does stress in guidance how careful people
    have to be to get right sort or they may not
    acheive what they wish.

    Your point about contract is very important.
