Over on Coronation Street, Lloyd Mullaney's health takes a sudden turn for the worse as he competes in a fun run.

Tensions grow high when Lloyd (Craig Charles) takes on his best friend Steve McDonald in the race, with each determined to beat the other.

When Steve (Simon Gregson) accidentally trips him up during the race, Lloyd struggles to keep a lid on his temper as he is convinced that the Rovers boss did it on purpose.

Lloyd's setback ensures that Steve wins the race, but there's a petty squabble afterwards as Lloyd accuses his mate of dirty tricks.

In the midst of the row, the day takes a shocking turn as Lloyd suddenly collapses to the ground, suffering a heart attack. After being rushed to the hospital, will he be okay?

Coronation Street star Craig Charles has spoken about his upcoming heart attack storyline, confirming that his character Lloyd Mullaney will make big lifestyle changes following his health scare.

As seen in official pictures released at the weekend, an upcoming episode will see Lloyd suffer a heart attack after competing in a Weatherfield fun run.

Speaking on ITV's Lorraine about the storyline today (April 28), Charles joked: "Basically it's just the producer telling you that you're getting a bit fat - that's what I thought! I thought, 'Well, after that, I'm going to have to go away and lose some weight!'

"But they had people there who told you how to act while you're having a heart attack, and a nurse said that I did very well.

"He does have to change his life. Lloyd has to start eating healthy, cutting down on the cigarettes, cutting down on the drinking, going to the gym. He's got this new girlfriend now, Andrea, and she starts looking after him."

However, Charles warned that Lloyd could be heading for trouble in his relationship with Andrea (Hayley Tamaddon).

He said: "You need to watch that space, really, because Lloyd could easily end up getting his heart broken again. I think there's things afoot there as well."

Charles also confirmed that he hopes to continue juggling Coronation Street with other projects like Red Dwarf, on which he plays Dave Lister.

"I'm trying to keep all the plates spinning, really," he explained. "Coronation Street have been really kind to me - they let me go off and do other things every now and again. There's a few things towards the end of the year that we'll be filming that we can't really talk about yet."

On Red Dwarf, he added: "We did Red Dwarf X a couple of years ago and that went really well. It was really well-received. It was a bit like going back in time, but within about five or ten minutes, it was like we'd never been away. I know the lads are trying to make a Red Dwarf XI."

Monday (1)

Lloyd is disappointed when Andrea fails to turn up at the race, but he continues to goad Steve. During the race, Steve accidentally trips up Lloyd. Convinced Steve did it on purpose, Lloyd is furious when Steve crosses the finish line before him.

Soon afterwards, Lloyd collapses during a squabble with Steve. Has he suffered a heart attack?

At the same time, Kal graciously lets Nick beat him in the race, and Mary is proud when Dev crosses the finish line.

Meanwhile, Sophie is worried about Sally when she hears from Sean that Tim has walked out on her.

Elsewhere, Owen confronts Anna, wanting to know what's bothering her.

Also, in a bid to get back into Rita's good books, Dennis looks for a job.


Monday (2)

A deeply upset Steve blames himself for Lloyd's heart attack.

Soon afterwards, Andrea arrives at the hospital and spins Lloyd a story about having to rush to the aid of a friend. Lloyd believes her, but will Jenna and Eileen be so easily fooled?

Meanwhile, Owen is increasingly concerned about Anna's behaviour. When she snaps at Faye, Owen thinks money worries are behind her outbursts. Owen wants Anna to be happy, but what is he willing to sacrifice to help his partner?

Elsewhere, Jason tells Tim that he needs to fight to get Sally back. Calling round to collect the rest of his stuff, Tim kisses Sally and she kisses him back.

Also, Dennis is devastated when Rita tells him that she can no longer trust him and he has to find somewhere else to live.

Finally, Julie hands Izzy the charity money they raised from the race, which Izzy promises to add to the fund.


Wednesday

Tony overhears Owen telling Jason that he's selling up.

Later in the café, Anna breaks down and confesses to Roy that she has done something terrible. Roy urges her to talk to Owen about it, but will she listen to his advice?

Meanwhile, Andrea promises Lloyd that she will never leave his side, but Jenna remains unconvinced. Is Andrea hiding something from them?

Elsewhere, Tina is shocked when Carla tells her that Peter is due out of rehab on Friday and that if he doesn't stop drinking he will end up dead.

Also today, Izzy is worried they can't afford the gas bill.

Finally, Sally is horrified when Tim cooks tea for her but uses instant mash, while Dennis pulls at Julie's heart strings - telling her that he's going to end up living on the streets again.


Friday (1)

Izzy is beside herself when Gary tells her that they won't receive his wage until next week. She confesses to Katy that she dipped into the charity money to pay a bill.

Aware that it's £318 short, Izzy hands the charity money envelope to Julie but as the reporter from the Gazette arrives, will Izzy confess to her crime?

Meanwhile, a nervous and shaky Peter arrives back from rehab. Wanting to see Simon, Carla calls Leanne. But will Simon want to see his troubled dad?

Elsewhere, Lloyd is touched when Steve offers to give up cigarettes and booze to help Lloyd give up too.

Also, Maddie is downbeat as she and Sophie set off to say goodbye to Ben.

Finally, Tracy talks about wedding venues, but Tina suggests with her lack of friends she should book a phone box.


Friday (2)

Owen tells Anna about Tony's paltry offer for the business.

Soon afterwards, as Anna psychs herself up to confess to Owen, Izzy arrives clearly upset. Will the family be shocked at Izzy's wrongdoing? And will Anna admit to her infidelity?

At the same time, the factory girls are shocked to discover that Izzy took the charity money.

Meanwhile, Peter is upset when Simon visits Tina but is hostile towards him. A worried Tina holds Peter's face and assures him that he's a good dad, but will Peter be able to resist the drink and Tina for much longer?

Elsewhere, Jenna agrees to stop being nasty to Andrea for Lloyd's sake. Andrea receives a text and quickly covers it, telling Lloyd it's nothing, but what is Andrea hiding?

Also, Rob and Tracy decide to hold their wedding reception in The Rovers.

Finally, Sally calls round with T-shirts as a peace offering for Maddie and Sophie.
