Marilyn (Emily Symons) has been harbouring secret feelings for John (Shane Withington) for a while now but her emotions threaten to overwhelm her when he recites a poetry reading.

Deciding it is time to be honest, Marilyn finally plucks up the courage to talk to John about how she feels but the moment is interrupted by a distressed Sally.

Sally is frantic with worry after learning that Pippa has left school with Jett and she and John set off to find them. Has Marilyn missed her chance?

Monday episode 5856 - 21/10/13

Nate enlists Ricky and Nate to help him search for Josh. Maddy reluctantly goes to school, knowing that he has a bad infection and could die if not found. When Ricky returns to the house she finds a very sick Josh on her doorstep. She quickly calls Nate as Josh explains that he didn’t want to be in hospital anymore. Nate arrives and is concerned about Josh’s poor condition. Josh refuses to go back to hospital forcing Nate, along with Ricky, to treat him there.

Tamara’s apprehensive about her exam results. Casey’s confident Tamara will have done well. Oscar’s worried about starting his first day at school, and doesn’t want everyone to know that Zac is his uncle. Bianca is similarly daunted by the influx of new Mangrove River students. It’s clear there’s a divide between the Summer Bay and Mangrove River kids, and Zac tries valiantly to integrate them. When a new student, Matt, runs into Tamara, Montgomery unfairly targets him. Matt starts to make fun of Summer Bay kids, especially Oscar and Sasha. When Maddy defends Oscar he snaps and tells her he can handle it. Heath and Casey show up to the school to throw some River Boy weight around, but all it does is give ammunition to Montgomery to use against Bianca. Bianca angrily tells Casey and Heath to leave. Heath overhears Matt calling Bianca a slag and threatens him. Matt tries to brush it off, but Heath lays down the law. Meanwhile, Zac and Bianca are working late, and find Bianca’s office vandalised. Bianca and Tamara are convinced that Matt is behind the graffiti.

Tuesday episode 5857 - 22/10/13

Kyle arrives home to find Josh sleeping on their couch. He’s suspicious when he finds Nate hanging around but Ricky explains Nate is a doctor and they’re looking after Josh. After Nate tells Josh he needs her, Josh calls Maddy. The pair happily reconcile. Kyle warns Nate off, worried he’s trying to make a move on Ricky. When Maddy convinces Josh to return to hospital, Nate reveals what Kyle said. Ricky tells Kyle to step off - he doesn’t have the right to tell her what to do. Upset at Ricky’s reaction, Kyle quits Angelo’s and says he doesn’t want to be part of the family.

Bianca’s determined to turn things around at school. When she asks Matt about the graffiti he plays it cool and tells her to skip to the punishment. Montgomery comes to gloat about the trashed office. When she runs into Heath at the Diner, she tells him his wife is a bad judge of character. Heath tells her she’s the one who’s wrong and that she’d judged him ten years ago when she accused him of stealing a car. Bolstered by standing up to Montgomery, Heath goes to Bianca and tells her about when he didn’t defend himself all those years ago. Maybe they need to give Matt the benefit of the doubt. Bianca gives Matt a second chance, telling him she’ll believe him if he tells her he didn’t trash her office. Matt is confused by Bianca’s apparent understanding. It’s the first time anyone’s believed him.

Oscar doesn’t want to go back to school after his run ins with Matt. Hannah tries to convince him to go but he’s not interested. Hannah talks to Leah about teenage boys. She doubts if she and Zac are ready to be parents, but Leah urges them to take charge. Maddy finds Oscar skipping school and convinces him to come back to school. Oscar reveals that Zac trying to be a father figure is what’s bothering him, and he misses Evie. However, he allows himself to be led back to school with Maddy. Unfortunately, Matt’s out for a fight and he pushes Oscar to breaking point. Oscar punches Matt in the face, forcing Zac to intervene. Hannah asks Oscar to stop blaming her and Zac for everything. It’s time to start communicating. Hannah tells Zac and Leah that she and Oscar are going to move out. Zac’s hurt to realise that it’s him making Oscar act out, and Zac offers to move out.

Wednesday episode 5858 - 23/10/13


Indi’s been dreaming about the locket that Romeo gave her. Meanwhile Chris and Sasha worry about Spencer being in the cult. Sasha tells Chris that Evelyn is keeping Spencer safe – but if he blows her cover she’ll be in terrible trouble. Chris decides to go to the cult and win back Spencer. Evie tries to convince Spencer to go home and take his medication, but Spencer doesn’t want to be away from the cult. Evelyn’s only staying so she can see her father. When Chris arrives, Spencer’s bemused. He’s invited to a seminar, but Murray’s suss from the start. Spencer tells Chris to leave if he’s going to be negative, but Evie tells Spencer to give Chris a chance. When they have a chance to speak in private, Evelyn tells Chris about the Discovery Weekend. After being constantly interrupted by Chris during his seminar, Murray asks Chris to leave. He brainwashes Spencer into rejecting Chris and Spencer punches Chris. He doesn’t want Chris in his life. Before he’s taken away, Chris slips Evelyn a mobile phone.

Ricky goes after Kyle to apologise, who shrugs it off. Casey cheerfully passes on his way back to work and its clear Kyle feels like life is going great for Casey and downhill for him. Ricky asks Casey to ease off with Kyle. Casey bristles at the suggestion that Kyle is struggling with Brax being gone more than anyone else. When he’s confronted, Kyle lashes out at Casey and they begin to shove each other. Ricky intervenes, concerned about how these brothers are coping.

Roo’s determined to keep on as usual even though Harvey and Winston are missing at sea. Meanwhile, she privately battles to keep it together. John and Marilyn would like to be together, but feel too sorry for Roo to tell her they’re an item. Irene, Leah, Marilyn and John all band around Roo who wants to be alone. Understanding what Roo is going through, Indi relates to her.

Thursday episode 5859 - 24/10/13


Indi’s been distracted by her dreams of Romeo. When Chris arrives dishevelled and defeated in the face of Spencer’s rejection, she knows she needs to be there for her boyfriend. But Indi can’t help being distant, and when Dex asks Indi what’s up she lashes out. Chris realises Indi’s been cold, and she apologises for not being there for him. He deserves someone who stands by him. Chris reads between the lines – she’s breaking up with him. Indi doesn’t want to break up, she just needs time to get over Romeo. In her dreams, Romeo returns to Indi. Dex sees his sister crying in her sleep and his heart breaks for Indi. Indi tells Dex the reason she’s stayed in the Bay was the hope that one day Romeo would come find her. Now that he’s dead she needs to leave the Bay and Romeo. She has to make a new start.

Jett is miserable over Nina leaving the bay, while John and Marilyn keep up the ruse that they’re just friends so they don’t hurt Roo. Marilyn is concerned that Roo isn’t allowing her true feelings to come to the surface. Meanwhile, Jett has a plan to be with Nina – he’ll enrol himself at her private boarding school! John is unimpressed with his plan and a heartbroken Jett tells Roo about his problems. When he backtracks, realising Roo is in the grip of her own loss, Roo snaps – she’s not a widow. Later, Marilyn and John discuss how much they want to be together, and Jett overhears them, happy that they’ve finally been honest with one another.

Bianca gets caught by Tamara while attempting to hack into Heath’s computer. He’s unaware that she knows about his study. Bianca gets into his exam and is disappointed that he doesn’t do any work. Casey’s annoyed when he finds Heath copying Casey’s old assignment. He should do the work like Casey did, and not cheat. April is keen to escape Dex’s sci-fi wedding planning when Casey runs into Dex and tells him that Heath’s been cheating. Dex understands – Heath has zero self-esteem and as supportive as they’ve been, nothing has got through to him. This gives Casey an idea. Heath needs some tough love. He goads Heath into doing the test and helps him complete the module. Off the back of Heath’s dedication, Casey decides he wants his HSC. Now Heath has taken the first steps, he reveals he’s been studying to be a personal trainer. Bianca tells him she already knows, and supports him.

Thursday episode 5860 - 24/10/13


Dex and April know that once Indi leaves the Bay it won’t be the same. Also, she won’t be able to make the wedding. They decide to move the wedding to be in two weeks. April agrees, Indi has to be there. But planning a wedding in two weeks is a daunting task. Already tensions are raised when Dex guns for a Star Wars themed wedding and April is set against it. Roo overhears and offers to organise the whole thing for free. They gently rebuff her, and she takes it hard. Irene has a word to the feuding couple – Roo’s doing it tough, and so for her sake, and theirs, they should let her help them. Roo’s grateful to work with them, but is overwhelmed when she sees a picture of her and Harvey on their wedding day. Roo has to leave when John arrives with news about Harvey. As Dex and April reflect on how hard it must be for Roo. April decides it doesn’t matter what they have at their wedding, they’re just lucky to have each other.

Roo apologises for snapping last night, but today she’s feeling normal. Jett congratulates John on telling Marilyn on how he feels. John tells Jett they’re keeping it on the down low with Harvey missing. Jett again asks John if he can change schools and John ignores the suggestion. But deep down the financial strain of sending Jett to an expensive private school would be too much for John, and he doesn’t want to burden Jett with that knowledge. Jett’s campaign to go to private school pushes John to tell Jett the truth – John’s broke. Jett appreciates everything that John’s done for him – the warm moment is interrupted when John receives a phone call from his navy buddies. He runs to tell Roo they’ve found Winston safe and alive, but not Harvey. He’s still missing at sea. Roo is devastated, and Marilyn thinks they should call Alf home from America. Roo is adamant, there’s no need to call Alf. Ignoring Roo, Marilyn contacts Alf.

Spencer’s looking forward to the Discovery Weekend, believing he’ll finally be able to control his Bipolar Disorder with Murray’s help. Evelyn is concerned about what the weekend holds for them. Murray gives them white robes to wear – they are about to take their first steps into their new lives. They arrive to the Discovery Weekend where Murray is dressed in his ceremonial robes. As they enter the clearing, Evelyn turns on the mobile phone Chris gave her and presses record. In the clearing, other young people in white robes are waiting. Evelyn quickly realises that you are forced to be married on the Discovery Weekend. Spencer and Evelyn will be married to each other, and then to an older cult member. Evelyn knows they have to escape, but Spencer can’t process what is happening. He just wanted to be normal. However, when it becomes their turn to be married, Spencer tells Murray he won’t do it, and what is happening is wrong. Murray tries to convince Spencer that it’s his Bipolar talking and that Murray can help him be normal. Evelyn moves her phone so she can record everything. Murray slaps Spencer and has him taken away to be punished. Evelyn’s frightened about what they’re going to do to Spencer. She finds Spencer beaten in a shed and convinces him to leave with her. She has evidence to stop Murray. He feels like a fool for ever believing Murray, but allows her to help him escape. Evelyn vows to return for her father.
