Emmerdale star Dominic Power has admitted that he felt slightly uncomfortable when filming his character Cameron Murray's latest gruesome act.
Next week, viewers will see Cameron dig up the body of his murder victim Alex Moss so that he can move it somewhere else. He resorts to the desperate measure as the land where Alex is buried is about to be dug over for development.
Speaking of the dark scenes, Power explained: "It was a very strange experience. Sometimes when you go into filming, you know what the scene entails and you get a bad taste in your mouth.
"Even though we know that it's only pretend, there's a part of you that is in that environment - you put it into your head to make sure that it's convincing. You have to convince yourself first in order to convince your audience.
"But it's also been exciting, so that's great. Night shoots are always great fun anyway. I did find myself sat in the half dug-out shallow grave and I did have to look out and ask the crew, 'Has Emmerdale always been this dark? Can this really be going on in Emmerdale?'
"It does surprise me. Cameron does find the body, and the camera doesn't shy away."
Cameron's situation gets even worse when workmen turn up with diggers and vans while he is in the middle of his terrible task.
Power continued: "Basically, he's disturbed and he's like a rabbit caught in the headlights. There are literally headlights, and he is caught in them!
"Cameron has to quickly cover up everything that he's done and put it all back, very hastily. It's a shoddy job, so he knows that he has to get back there. All it would take is for someone to kick a leaf and they would find something."
Back in the village, Cameron doesn't just have the body to worry about as his partner Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and her half-sister Gennie Walker (Sian Reese-Williams) realise that he is behaving suspiciously.
Power said: "Cameron is covering with Chas and having to make all these excuses, so that's putting strain on that relationship. Gennie is also being a busybody and she's interfering, as she thinks Cameron is up to something. She's never trusted him from day one, as she thinks that he's going to end up having an affair.
"So Cameron's got all these other exterior forces against him, but all he wants to do is get that body out of the ground and move it to somewhere else before someone finds it. He is a worried man.
