Its a fecking joke, you have the regular barmaid who gets 2 lines/2 words every couple of months, Roxy, Jean, Mo and Alfie himself, the pub is empty and they are standing about with nothing to do. In walks Max's new wife, Alfie can I speak to you, cuts away to another scene then back to the Vic, now Max's Mrs is now working behind the bar. And if that wasn't stupid enough, he's hired Kat to work there too. So a pub that has little in the way of customers, the manager has apart from himself, he now has 5 staff and 1 part time Moe, right sure money must be rolling in and profits sky high.

I know this show has went down hill, but can't the writers come up with better than this --- as soon Max's wife walked into the pub for the 1st time, I said she will end up with a job behind the bar.

    Monday

It's the day of Joey's court appearance as he continues with his plan to take the rap for the car crash. Before leaving for the day ahead, Joey pays a visit to Alice. Following Joey's spontaneous confession at Derek's funeral, Alice wants answers about what really happened on the night her father died. After Alice hears Joey's version of events, she also has some questions for Jack and everyone else who was there that night. Will Alice get the answers she is looking for?

Later, Joey arrives back from court with the news that he only received a suspended sentence. He initially avoids going to see Alice, but soon realises that he'll have to do so sooner rather than later. When Joey does speak to Alice, she tells him that she knows the truth and Joey needs to stop punishing himself.

Meanwhile, a new boy named Dexter arrives on Albert Square and immediately makes a good impression on Abi. However, this doesn't go down well with Jay, who doesn't trust Dexter at all. When Max and Joey arrive home from court, Dexter watches them from afar before staring at a family photograph he has of the Brannings.

Elsewhere, Denise and Ray make a pact never to tell Kim about the kiss they shared. At the same time, Ray presents Kim with a surprise gift, but Kim admits to Denise that she is disappointed it's not an engagement ring. Later, Kim tries to be honest with Ray about her feelings and mentions that she spoke to Denise. However, Ray jumps to the wrong conclusion about what Kim is saying, and blurts out that Denise kissed him. An outraged Kim then heads over to The Vic and slaps Denise.

Also today, Kat secures a cleaning job at the R&R but selflessly shares half of the work with unsuccessful applicant Bianca, while Masood tries to offer Ayesha some philosophical advice about marriage.

    Tuesday

The mood is tense at the Brannings' as Tanya piles pressure on Max, wanting answers and decisions following the fallout from Christmas.

Meanwhile, Jack suggests to Sharon that they should throw a party tonight to announce their engagement. Sharon agrees, but is keen to tell Phil first. Unfortunately, the chance to speak to Phil doesn't arise, so Jack is left frustrated when it's time to leave for the party and it's clear that Sharon is not ready. Jack points out to Sharon that Phil shouldn't be a concern, and if she wants to marry him she should meet him at the club to announce the engagement ASAP.

Sharon tries one last time to find Phil, but learns that he has just left to go to the club. She rushes down the road to find him before he walks into the engagement party, but it's too late. As Sharon follows Phil inside, Jack excitedly makes their announcement. While everyone else cheers, Phil has a face like thunder.

Elsewhere, Denise is eager to make peace with her sister, but Kim doesn't want to hear it. Knowing that Ray has twisted the truth, Denise confronts him at The Vic over his lies. Denise soon realises that Ray is having doubts about his relationship with Kim. Feeling for Kim and not wanting her to be dumped, Denise decides to go along with Ray's false version of events - even though this adds to the tension between her and Kim.

Also today, Michael finds a stash of Derek's dodgy money at the gym and suggests to Phil that they should launder it through their businesses, a kind-hearted Roxy says that Kat and Bianca could take on the cleaning at the pub but Michael questions why she is letting Alfie's ex back in The Vic, while Derek's ashes arrive and the Brannings agree that Alice should be the one to decide where they are scattered.

    Thursday

Max is exasperated with Tanya for her recent plan. He decides to sort out his current situation once and for all, so he arranges a dinner for everyone to talk about the problem. The mood is strained when the meal gets under way, but the focus is soon taken off Max when Abi turns up with her new friend Dexter. A jealous Jay is next to arrive and when he sees Dexter, he loses his temper by flying at him.

Jay is soon thrown out of the house, but the drama of the evening doesn't end there as Ava pays a visit. Tanya tries to introduce her to everyone, but Ava gets annoyed and tells her that she has no right. Tanya mistakenly thinks that Ava is upset over not being invited to the meal, but Ava makes it clear that the only reason she's there is to get her son - Dexter!

Meanwhile, Bianca turns up on time for her new cleaning job at The Vic, but it's a no-show from Kat. Alfie lies to Roxy that he's got a supplier to see, but he really goes to see Kat to find out what's wrong. Kat explains that it was too hard to go into the pub, but Alfie manages to convince her to start again next week. When Roxy finds out that Alfie has lied to her about seeing Kat, she isn't best pleased and confronts him about it.

Later, tensions escalate between Roxy and Kat when Kat turns up at The Vic and goes too far by trying to get Alfie to read Tommy a bedtime story. Roxy is pleased when Alfie stands up to Kat.

Elsewhere, Ian offers Denise his spare room to stay in when it becomes clear that she is feeling very down at the moment, while Phil decides to speak to Michael following yesterday's conversation - but Phil's plan doesn't involve laundering dodgy notes...

    Friday
Zainab stumbles across a letter that Ayesha has written about a mystery man and can't resist reading it. However, Zainab is shocked by its contents and tells Masood that it is obscene. It's clear that Ayesha has got a crush, but as there is no mention of Rashid in the letter, the Masoods are baffled about who Ayesha is writing about. Zainab decides that Ayesha must fancy either Fatboy or Tamwar, so she orders Masood to investigate further. In doing so, Masood eliminates both Fatboy and Tamwar from the suspect list, but becomes worried when he sees Ayesha talking to AJ. Masood shares his theory with a horrified Zainab, but assures her that he'll manage the situation by keeping the pair apart.

Later, during a family meal, Masood is pleased when Zainab appears to be showing him some affection by playing footsie with him under the table. However, Masood's delight turns to fear when he realises that it's not Zainab's foot, but Ayesha's...

Meanwhile, Denise visits the B&B as she is determined to make things up with Kim. Kim milks the situation by extracting a full apology from her sister, but the pair end up hugging and making up. Later, however, Ray turns up at the B&B and announces to Kim that their relationship is over, and her pleas for him to change his mind don't work. Kim thinks this is all Denise's fault, so she angrily declares that she never wants to see Denise again. Denise then returns to Ian's place looking for somewhere to stay.

Elsewhere, Abi is in trouble with her family over all the trouble caused when she invited Dexter over last night. However, Abi defends herself strongly by insisting that she meant no harm, and the Brannings are taken aback by her fierce attitude. Abi also has words with Jay as she rebukes him for thinking that she cheated on him. It's not long before the whole family know Abi's feelings and for once it looks as though she is being listened to.

Also today, Liam trains up Shirley as the new girl at McKlunkeys.

Another Branning family gathering descends into chaos in tonight's episode of EastEnders (January 10).

The clan come together to support Tanya this evening after Max (Jake Wood) invites Kirsty around for dinner to discuss their ongoing problem, hoping to reach a solution once and for all.

Unsurprisingly, the mood is tense at the meal as Tanya (Jo Joyner) and Kirsty (Kierston Wareing) continue to exchange barbed remarks in front of everyone.

However, this isn't the only issue on the night, as Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) also inadvertently sparks trouble by inviting along her new friend Dexter (Khali Best).

Dexter manages to charm most of the Brannings, but when a furious Ava (Clare Perkins) turns up and announces that he's her son, it's clear that Dexter hasn't been honest with everyone about his intentions...

EastEnders teenager Abi Branning goes on the warpath this evening (January 11) as she gives her loved ones some home truths.

Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) is left furious when Tanya and Cora both blame her for the previous night's arguments, questioning why she had to invite Dexter over to dinner in the first place.

The Brannings are stunned as Abi fiercely defends herself in response, and she doesn't stop there as she also slams the door in Dexter's face when he comes over to apologise.

Later, Jay (Jamie Borthwick) is next to face Abi's wrath as she rants at him outside the café, livid that he suspected her of being unfaithful.

With everyone shocked by Abi's antics, it seems like she is being listened to for once - but will her anger get results?
