If its female, the only one I could see it being would be Liza, as she went behind the families back to go see Chaz in prison and support her, don't see him telling debbie or charity. Don't see it being any female outwith Liza, not a lot of females he talks with in the village. Male their are more choices, Bob always lends an ear but don't see it being him, if he told Dan he would be shouting all about it before he could do him in, you would think. Tells the person then sees it as a mistake, that tends to say there is time in between the 2 events. Again not many if any guys he's close to in the Village. Unless as with the females in the village he gets close to one in the build up to telling them. With Liza gone, that would be a trigger for wee Belle to go off the rails, which she seems to be ready to start doing.
