Neighbours' Australian fans will see Priya Kapoor's affair exposed before the end of the year, reports have confirmed.

As the soap's dramatic 2012 finale week plays out, Priya (Menik Gooneratne) has some explaining to do when her husband Ajay discovers that she has been sleeping with bad boy Paul Robinson.

The beginning of the end for Priya's deception comes when her suspicious daughter Rani uncovers undeniable proof of her infidelity, snatching Paul's phone and finding incriminating messages on it.


While a shocked Rani (Coco-Jacinta Cherian) initially tries to escape the situation by heading off to a party across town with boyfriend Harley Canning, she makes the massive decision to tell Ajay (Sachin Joab) the truth upon her return.

At first, Ajay dismisses what Rani is telling him but when he discovers that she is right about Priya, viewers can look forward to the long-awaited fight scene between Ajay and Paul (Stefan Dennis).

Can the Kapoors get their marriage back on track following the shattering revelation, or is this the end for them?

Karl Kennedy faces a new decision over his love life in upcoming Neighbours episodes as Susan's sister Carmel makes a move on him.

Carmel, played by Kirsty Child, has already reappeared on screen in Australia and taken a shine to the newly-single Karl, who is currently busy searching for a new life partner.

Karl (Alan Fletcher) and Carmel will strike up a bond when they are united in their concern for Ajay Kapoor after he discovers his wife Priya's affair. Carmel advises Karl that Ajay should put on a brave face despite his heartbreak by going ahead with a planned Christmas performance at the community centre.


Grateful for Carmel's help in supporting Ajay, Karl later gives her a lift home to Susan's place. However, when he sees the cramped conditions she has been living in, he offers Carmel his spare room instead.

A delighted Carmel accepts this offer but soon finds herself misreading Karl's signals as she settles in at the Kennedy house. When Carmel makes her move, will Karl respond? And how would Susan react if she knew that Carmel was interested in her estranged husband?

Rhys Lawson gets the ultimate chance to prove himself to ex-girlfriend Vanessa Villante on Neighbours when he unexpectedly supports her through labour.

Upcoming episodes of the Ramsay Street soap will see Rhys (Ben Barber) become determined to win back Vanessa (Alin Sumarwata), realising that their recent split was a mistake.

Lucas Fitzgerald (Scott Major) also remains besotted with Vanessa, still hoping that the woman carrying his unborn child will finally fall for him. However, when Vanessa suddenly goes into labour during Neighbours' 2012 finale week, it's Rhys rather than Lucas who is by her side.

When Vanessa's waters break, it's just as Lucas has secretly left town for a visit to Vanessa's overbearing mother Francesca, eager to reunite the pair following their latest fall-out.

Reports have revealed that Rhys rushes Vanessa to hospital and stays by her side as she prepares to give birth. With Lucas out of reach, will Rhys and Vanessa reignite their bond in his absence?

Paying a visit to Susan unexpectedly, Carmel (Kirsty Child) initially tries to pretend that everything is fine back at home, but eventually confesses that she has split from her husband and is adjusting to life as a singleton again.

Spontaneous Carmel is keen to have some fun as she catches up with Susan (Jackie Woodburne), so she suggests that they should try speed dating.

A reluctant Susan finds herself being dragged along to the event by Carmel, leading to an awkward atmosphere when Karl (Alan Fletcher) turns up as well! Will there be trouble ahead when Carmel finds herself falling for Karl?

Neighbours star Ryan Maloney has spoken of his character Toadie's anguish as partner Sonya suffers a difficult labour.

Speaking to TV Week, the actor revealed details of Sonya's agonising home birth, which airs next week on Australian channel Eleven and next year in the UK.

Maloney explained: "All along, Toadie has wanted Sonya (Eve Morie) to have their baby at the hospital. He and Sonya had so much trouble getting pregnant in the first place, so Toadie's been really worried about things going wrong from day dot.

"The labour just seems to stop and stall. Everything seems to be taking far too long. Toadie's not at all convinced that it's going okay, even though the doula assures him that it's fine.

"Toadie tries everything he can to convince Sonya to go to the hospital and be checked out - annoying her greatly in the process - but nothing works. The longer the labour goes on and nothing happens, the more tense the situation at home becomes."

The star continued: "This is Toadie's worst nightmare. And, they're not at the hospital yet."

Maloney conceded that he would "react similar to Toadie", adding: "I'd be terribly upset. I could definitely relate to what he's going through - it wasn't that hard to pretend.

"You would just feel so helpless. In labour, men are the bystanders and they get to see how strong a woman really is."

Neighbours character Rhys will make a shock marriage proposal to ex-girlfriend Vanessa, it has been confirmed.

Ramsay Street cast member Ben Barber has revealed that his alter ego will pop the question after he helps her through her birth.

"Vanessa has the baby in her arms and Rhys tells her that he loves her and then asks her to marry him," Barber told TV Week.

When asked how Vanessa will answer, the actor challenged fans: "If you know both characters, I think you'll have an idea of how it's going to play out - but then you might be surprised, too."

The baby's dad Lucas is away and cannot be contacted when Vanessa's waters break.

Barber elaborated on the situation: "Leading up to the birth, [Rhys has] been trying to win her over, but everything seems to come out the wrong way.

"She doesn't want his help, but he's not leaving with Lucas nowhere in sight!"

Neighbours fans in Australia will see the storyline play out next week, while the drama will hit UK screens early next year.

Neighbours ends the year with a cliffhanger on UK screens later this month as Rani Kapoor gets a glimpse of what her cheating mum Priya has been up to with Paul Robinson.

Priya (Menik Gooneratne) finally ends her affair with Paul in upcoming episodes, realising that she wants to make things work with her loyal husband Ajay. However, she is left fearing that her marriage could be destroyed forever when a bitter Paul (Stefan Dennis) threatens to tell Ajay the truth.

Desperate to reason with her spurned lover, Priya arranges one last meeting with Paul so that she can beg him to see sense.

Priya points out that they could never have a successful long-term relationship as Paul loves the thrill of the chase, so she wants them to leave their fling as a happy memory without anyone getting hurt.

When Paul finally agrees to keep quiet about Priya's infidelity, the pair enjoy a goodbye kiss - unaware that a shocked Rani (Coco-Jacinta Cherian) is watching. It's clear that Priya will have some explaining to do…
