EastEnders star Tony Discipline has today (August 14) been cleared of GBH and common assault charges.
The actor, who plays Walford's Tyler Moon, had been accused of breaking 21-year-old Hayden Deol's jaw and injuring his cousin Sab Deol during an altercation at a nightclub in May 2011.
However, This Is Local London reports that Judge Jeffrey Pegden has now thrown the case out of court.
The 23-year-old has therefore been acquitted of GBH and common assault.
According to the Evening Standard, Discipline did not deny hitting Hayden Deol, but claimed that he was acting in self-defence as the alleged victims were "acting like thugs" and he was surrounded by a group of men.
Judge Pegden ordered the jury to return verdicts of not guilty after the Deol cousins gave conflicting accounts of the night in question.
He said: "I have a duty to consider whether this jury, given proper direction in law, could safely convict this defendant Mr Discipline on either charges that he faces. I have very carefully considered the evidence in this case and have heard detailed submissions from counsel.
"I have come to the conclusion that bearing in mind the markedly different accounts of these two young men that no jury could safely and properly be sure that the assault was unlawful in the sense that it was other than lawful and reasonable self-defence.
"For all those reasons I have come to the conclusion that it would be unsafe for this case to go further. I'm going to ask you to return a unanimous verdict of not guilty."
The soap star's trial began yesterday (August 13) and had been expected to last for four days.
Discipline joined EastEnders in spring 2011 but did not appear on screen until June, a month after the alleged nightclub incident.

Ross Kemp has revealed that a return to EastEnders is unlikely, but possible.
The actor and TV journalist stated that he has no plans of following Letitia Dean (Sharon Watts) back to the BBC soap, but that he would never fully rule it out.
"I would never say never to going back. It was a good ten years of my life, I really enjoyed it," he told The Sun.
"But I am doing other things now. It has taken the skin off my knees and my bald head to get this far, so I'm not about to give up just yet."
He added: "I'm hoping I will want a quieter life one day, but who knows? I bet Letitia and Steve McFadden are having a ball now she is back. She is such good fun to work with."
Kemp last appeared as Grant Mitchell on the soap six years ago.
He wished his former on-screen wife Letitia Dean good luck on her return to Albert Square earlier this year.
The second series of Ross Kemp: Extreme World will premiere on Monday, September 3 at 9pm on Sky1

Barbara Windsor has revealed that she was good friends with Amy Winehouse.
The former EastEnders actress explained that her friendship with the late singer was kept secret from the press.
"I kept our friendship private even though she was often in the news," she told The Mirror.
"We kept it a secret. We always said our friendship would be very private because we knew what it would be like…'Friends with Barbara Windsor, what's that all about?'"
Talking about how they become close, she stated: "My husband's family is very friendly with Amy's family.
"The two have known each other for a long time. I live near Regent's Park and she used to go to a clinic near us. She would sit out at the back entrance and have a cigarette.
"I spotted her one day and said to Scott, 'That's Amy out there having a cigarette, you should go out'. He went out and she said, 'Hello, Scott, I was wondering which house you and Ba lived in'.
"He told her to stop sitting outside and come in. Then, whenever she was there, she knew she didn't have to sit on a wall and could come and see us.
"She would knock on the door and we would have quality time with her."
Windsor revealed that Winehouse would often help her learn lines for EastEnders.
"There was always an EastEnders script on the coffee table and we would read the scripts together.
"There was one really heavy scene between Peggy and Pat where it really kicked off. I pretended to be Peggy and for the first time Amy played Pat.
"Afterwards she always insisted on playing Peggy, which was lovely. She was very good, she was a very good actress.
"That was one of our smashing moments. It was lovely and we always said we would never tell anyone."
Speaking about the singer-songwriter's death aged 27, she added: "I was so upset when I heard the news. She was an amazing, amazing talent.
"It was tragic that she was getting herself sorted out…but that's life isn't it?
"We stayed away from her funeral but we went to the third Shiva and said prayers with her family."
Stevie Wonder recently revealed that he wanted to duet with Amy Winehouse.
..EastEnders bosses have spent one million pounds filming the soap's biggest ever car crash which will leave fans fearing that their favourite characters have been axed, according to reports.
The Sun said that an incident happens when Lauren Branning, played by Jacqueline Jossa, steals her uncle Derek's Jaguar and goes for a ride with her cousin Joey.
But the car crashes into a shop window and viewers will see characters rush to help the pair before the car explodes.
The crash was filmed over a five-day shoot in Keynsham, Somerset.
A soap insider said: "No expense was spared on this car crash. With salaries, location fees, hotel costs, security fees and maintaining the set for five days, costs were nudging one million pounds.
"But fans will think it all worth it with this thrilling plot line."

So perhaps there is a point to the post-schoolgirl Lauren Branning character after all. She's never had a job, doesn't want a job, is not looking for a job, has no pressure from her parents to get a job etc etc - surely there should be more to a character than simply drinking alcohol? As for whether we'll think the plot was worth a million quid, I very much doubt that we will.
