Tracy's had a comfortable night. The doctors tell Ken and Deirdre that while she's not out of the woods yet, she's responding well to treatment. When Tracy wakes up, however, all she can discuss is what Steve said to her the night before. It's helping her through the ordeal because she knows now more than ever that they're destined to be together again.

After being told the good news about Tracy, Steve finds himself getting closer to Michelle when he gets rid of Niall from the cab office after catching him hassling Ryan. He gives Ryan a pep talk about getting involved with 'low life scum', telling him about his own troubles years ago with Jez Quigly. Michelle's delighted by Steve's fatherly actions, and she instinctively reacts in a way he hadn't dared to hope.

Later, when Steve visits Tracy, he realises the impact his words the previous evening have had. Will he be able to tell her that the relationship she's dreaming of isn't going to happen?

Meanwhile, Roy is perplexed when Mary is brusque after he suggests they have a nice chess game to make up for missing the Elgar concert. When he shares his bemusement with Hayley, Anna takes her to one side. She reckons it's clear Mary had designs on Roy but was thwarted. Needing to get to the bottom of things, Hayley tackles Mary. Mary confesses that she did have a crush, but then realised she had no hope. How will Hayley react when she hears her reason why?

Elsewhere, Tyrone relies further on Kevin when he decides to report Kirsty as missing to the police. But will he like what the police have to tell him?

Also today, Katy is furious when Chesney finally tells her the van's a write-off.

Steve is deeply uncomfortable when Tracy asks Amy if she'd like her mummy and daddy to get back together. Later in the pub, the conundrum he's in even makes him back off Michelle a bit. However, Steve soon apologises to Michelle and they kiss again, unaware that Amy's watching them.

Suddenly, Steve is like a rabbit caught in the headlights when a distressed Amy reveals that he's meant to be getting back with Tracy. Michelle is icy when she tells him they need serious words, as there's no way she's going to be hurt by him again. Steve confesses that he said stuff to Tracy to help her get through her ordeal - it was wrong of him, but he couldn't think what else to do! Michelle tells him that Tracy needs to know the truth fast or they'll be over before they've even started.

Like a man facing the gallows, Steve heads for the hospital. As Tracy discusses where she and Steve might live and how happy they'll be, Steve announces that he just wants to be on his own. Will Tracy believe him? And how will Deirdre react to a little nugget of information Amy shares with her?

Meanwhile, Chesney and Katy are fretting about their van problem, until Gary arrives and chucks the keys to his van on the table. The couple protest, but Gary insists that the van is theirs as an indefinite loan, as they're practically family now and need to look out for each other. Chesney is chuffed, and he and Katy ask Gary and Izzy to be Joseph's godparents. Later, when they tell Anna the news that they're going to be godparents, she notices their delight is tinged with heartache over their own problems and suggests a possible solution.

Elsewhere, Mary arrives at the Kabin and makes it known that it's time for her to move on to pastures new - she's leaving today. Norris can't wait to spread the news, while Hayley blames herself and explains to a disbelieving Roy that Mary had designs on him. Later, Roy takes a call from the hotel in Malvern that makes Hayley change her opinion regarding Mary's behaviour.

Also today, Karl begs Rob for a job at the factory

    Thursday
Gary and Izzy's adoption plans fail at the first hurdle when Izzy reveals that Gary has a criminal record. A devastated Gary rails at Izzy for ruining their chances.

Desperate to help, Katy makes a stunning announcement - she'll be their surrogate. Gary's thrilled at the idea, but how will Izzy react?

Meanwhile, Steve is in trouble when Deirdre tackles him about having an affair behind Tracy's back. Michelle joins in, realising he chickened out of telling Tracy about their rekindled relationship. Deirdre tells Tracy the news, and unable to believe it, she tackles Steve too. Will he finally tell her the truth?

Elsewhere, Hayley calls in on Mary in her motor home and offers heartfelt apologies. Will Mary accept her offer of a trip to the café for a game of chess with Roy?

Also today, Eva is less than impressed that Rob has given Karl a job in packing and delivery.

    Friday
Katy urges Izzy to consider her offer to be a surrogate mum, and suggests that they should all book in to see Doctor Carter. At the surgery, Carter tells them about the pitfalls and the cost of the IVF. Although Gary reckons they'll find the money somehow, this once again gives Izzy cause to question the idea.

Later at the christening, Owen - who spotted Gary earlier going in to Carter's surgery - senses something's up and tackles Gary. Will Owen's reaction to Katy's offer lead to Joseph's christening grinding to a halt?

Meanwhile, Deirdre brings Tracy home. Tracy puts on a brave front and claims she wants to go out. It's clear that she's looking for an excuse to make her anger felt, and it arrives sooner than she hoped. Michelle, who's blissfully unaware of the animosity, asks her how she is and swiftly regrets her show of concern.

Elsewhere, while Karl is in Rob's office, Eva sabotages the order he's about to deliver. When this results in a tirade of abuse from an irate customer, Rob is fuming. Eva is thrilled - she's got a result. But will her scheme succeed in getting Karl the sack?

Owen's anger reaches a new peak as Anna holds him back from attacking Gary. At the same time, Chesney is stunned - this is the first he's heard of Katy's plans. The christening party is promptly cancelled. As Katy looks forlornly at the wasted buffet, Izzy announces that Owen's reaction has helped her make her mind up - she wants to go ahead with the surrogacy.

Katy is thrilled, but Chesney is clearly concerned, telling her that she should have talked the decision through with him first. Later, after a talking-to from Anna, Owen comes round to apologise for ruining the christening. Izzy won't accept his apologies, and what she has to tell him leaves him reeling…

Meanwhile, after surviving her bashing from Tracy, Michelle's in no mood for Steve being weak. She tells him emphatically that they have to forget about the mother of his child - she's not part of their future.

Elsewhere, Eva is ecstatic when Rob tears a strip off Karl for the mucked-up order and sacks him on the spot. As Karl leaves, he knows it was Eva who set him up. He heads home dreading how Sunita will react to the news.

Also today, Kevin's DIY at number 13 drives his new neighbour Paul up the wall.
