Alfie is adamant that Kat should stay at home while the boys go to the football match - but will she play the dutiful wife when she has a mystery lover in the wings?

Will Billy make it to the torch relay in time? Everyone does their best to help him, but a number of obstacles threaten to destroy his dream... The last part of this episode will be a live broadcast.
Lola awaits the start of the torch relay for Billy’s big moment - but soon realises that this could be a big day for her as well.

Lucy is pleased when Joey comes to her rescue, but Derek is livid to find out he is a pawn in Joey’s scam. Is Joey really helping Lucy or he is only motivated to get revenge on his dad?
Tired and emotional, Janine is struggling to cope without Michael by her side. Whitney does her best to persuade Michael to return, but will he?

Tanya gets excited when she overhears rumours that Cora has a new man in her life but she ends up pushing things too far, leaving her relationship with her mother at breaking point.

EastEnders character Lola Pearce will give birth in next Monday's (July 23) live Olympics episode.

Danielle Harold will become only the second actress to act out a birth live on a soap opera.

A Walford insider told The Mirror: "Everyone thinks the live show is all about Billy with the torch, but arguably Lola will steal the show when she gives birth in the live segment.

"No-one has tried anything like this on EastEnders live before so it is a real challenge to get the emotion of the situation right. It will be the toughest thing Danielle has done in her acting career."

Her on-screen granddad Perry Fenwick will run live with the famous Olympics torch as Billy Mitchell in the special instalment.

After his iconic Olympics moment, Billy will rush to Lola's side as he learns she has gone into labour.

Coronation Street's Jennie McAlpine performed Weatherfield character Fiz's birth in the ITV serial's live 50th-anniversary edition back in December 2010.

The EastEnders birth scenes will air next Monday (July 23) at 8pm and 9pm on BBC One.

Monday

Billy's big day has finally arrived and the Olympic torch is coming to Walford. However, it starts off with business as usual for Billy as he visits Janine at the hospital to run an errand. While there, a furious Janine realises that Billy has told Michael about the combination to the safe being changed. Billy insists that both of them should start putting their daughter first rather than worrying about money, but Janine remains displeased and sacks him on the spot.

Later, the Queen Vic's football team prepares for another match, but Billy isn't sure whether he should play as he may not get back in time to carry the torch. Keen to keep hold of the publicity surrounding Billy at the moment, Alfie convinces him not to let the team down. However, as the team are travelling home on the tube following a defeat, tempers become frayed between the Branning brothers. As Derek lunges at Jack and Max, a hapless Anthony panics and pulls the emergency alarm - causing the train to stop. Billy is livid - could this stop him from getting back in time to carry the torch?


Meanwhile, Lola pays a visit to Jay at The Arches. However, as she waits for him in Derek's car, she is startled to realise that her waters have broken. Scared about the situation, Lola rushes off without saying anything to Jay. The teenager is reluctant to accept what is happening, but as she heads into McKlunkeys, it soon becomes clear to everyone that she has gone into labour…

Elsewhere, Cora and Patrick go to Joy's house clearance, as arranged last week. This means that the pair have to carry on pretending to be a couple. It's clear that Patrick genuinely likes Cora, but she is struggling to admit that she feels the same way. Later at The Vic, Joy confronts Cora about her relationship with Patrick, having been tipped off by Tyler that they are faking. However, Cora protests that it's the real deal and tries to prove it by kissing Patrick in front of everyone!

Also, Tanya's concerns for Lucy and Bobby grow when she sees Bobby accidentally cut himself in the café, a bored Kat sends a text to her mystery lover as she holds the fort at The Vic, while Zainab reluctantly takes on longer hours at the Minute Mart as she realises that the family are in a desperate financial situation.

Billy is terrified that he is going to miss his big Olympic moment following the mishap on the train. After a while, however, the vehicle starts moving again and Billy is given hope that he won't miss out after all. When the football team finally arrives back in Walford, they find that the police are waiting for them. Billy tries his hardest to convince the police to let him go, but in the end, Anthony is forced to create a diversion so that Billy can make a run for it!

At the same time, a frantic Lola fears that she'll be in deep trouble with the authorities for breaking her curfew, so she insists that nobody at McKlunkeys should call an ambulance for her. Soon afterwards, Jay inadvertently draws Cora's attention to what's going on by stealing some blankets from the charity shop. Cora then takes control of the situation at the burger bar, guiding Lola through the labour and assuring her that she'll be a great mother.


Later, Billy finally gets his moment of glory as he carries the torch through cheering crowds. William and Janet are among those watching, but Billy is disappointed that he can't see Lola. Once Billy has carried out his long-awaited opportunity, Fatboy informs him what is going on with Lola. Billy then arrives just in time to see Lola give birth to a baby girl!

Meanwhile, Lucy finds out that a man on the Square is looking for Ian. She immediately accuses Tanya of phoning social services. Tanya denies this, but can see how much Lucy is struggling when she sees the state of the Beale house. Soon afterwards, the pair are interrupted by the man from earlier, who turns out to be a bailiff. The man vows to start repossessing unless Ian's debt is paid within the next two days. Oblivious to the reality of the situation, Tanya advises Lucy to call Ian and tell him to sort it out.

Elsewhere, Max quizzes Alfie on whether he has ever been tempted to cheat, while Kat is fuming when her secret lover fails to meet her at the flat as arranged, having been delayed by the incident on the train.

Tuesday

Lola is in hospital with Billy by her side following the arrival of her baby. A social worker informs the pair that they need to flag up any issues which could affect the baby, whether financial or personal. Knowing that he has lost his job, Billy worries about this and begs Janine to give him another chance - but she refuses to help him. Janine is also harbouring concerns of her own due to Michael's lack of support, fearing that she won't be able to cope by herself when Scarlett is allowed home next week.

Later, Janine is given food for thought when she spots some flowers from Billy and realises that she does have people around who will support her. Touched, Janine finally offers Billy his job back. As the day continues, Billy and Lola arrive back home and receive a warm welcome from everyone. Lola soon announces that her daughter will be called Lexi and her second name will be 'Billie', leaving Billy touched. Billy is delighted further when Alfie hands him the Olympic torch that he carried, revealing that everyone clubbed together to buy it for him.

Back at the hospital, Michael finally arrives to see Janine and holds his hand out - offering his support. Will Janine take it?


Meanwhile, when Joey makes a surprise arrival at the café, Lucy confides in him about her financial concerns. Joey is keen to help, so he asks Derek for £500, claiming that he needs it for accommodation. Derek turns this into a challenge by offering Joey £50 for every drink he has with him, and whoever is still standing at the end gets the money. Joey wins by drinking water all night, securing the money for Lucy - as well as a new home for himself when the blonde invites him to move in. When Derek realises that he's been conned, he confronts Joey and vows revenge…

Elsewhere, Tanya invites Cora and Patrick to dinner upon hearing that they may be an item, but the friendly gathering turns sour when Cora loses patience with her daughter's interference - warning her to keep her nose out.


Wednesday


Tanya feels guilty for interfering in Cora's life yesterday, so she and Lauren team up to make things right - deciding to replace a bracelet that Cora lost recently. Needing a picture of Cora wearing the bracelet to find a match, they get the key to her house from Poppy and start to rifle through her things. In doing so, Tanya finds a document which immediately grabs her attention and brings it back home with her. Tanya is reeling as the document reveals a shocking family secret that Cora has kept from her all her life…

At the same time, Max needs to borrow some money and asks Jack for help. However, as Jack is distracted by two air stewardesses he is having lunch with, Derek steps in and offers his support instead. Max declines his financial assistance, and Derek is soon intrigued to realise that his brother doesn't want the money for his upcoming wedding - it's for something else. Later, Max goes to see Derek and says that he can sort everything out if Derek can 'get him the address'. Derek agrees, but whose address are they talking about, and what is Max up to?


Meanwhile, Lauren convinces Joey to come to her place for lunch. However, Joey isn't pleased to find Alice and Derek there. Another argument between father and son erupts, but when Alice makes a mess of the cooking, the pair put their differences aside by stepping in to help. The peace doesn't last for long, however, as Joey erupts with rage when Alice comments on how much he has in common with Derek. More harsh words are exchanged between Joey and Derek - will they ever make peace?

Elsewhere, Tamwar informs Masood that he is thinking of going back to university and giving the restaurant to him and Zainab. However, this is bad news for Masood because he has just been offered an interview for a teaching assistant position. Masood keeps quiet over his news, but his anxiety grows as Zainab seems keen to take over the business - believing that it will help her to fund the biggest wedding Walford has ever seen. To Masood's dismay, Tamwar makes his final decision - he's going back to university and wants his parents to have the restaurant.

Also today, Billy takes a step back from looking after Lexi, eager for Lola to learn how to look after the newborn herself.

The upcoming live EastEnders scenes will feature 31 regular actors, it has been announced.

Perry Fenwick will carry the Olympic torch as Billy Mitchell in an eight-minute live sequence to be slotted into tonight's (July 23) episode of the BBC soap.

11 regular child actors and 450 extras will appear during the live scenes to cheer Billy Mitchell on during the relay in Walford.

19 cameras will be used around Albert Square to film the live sequence.

The live scenes will also feature Billy's granddaughter Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) give birth.

Rehearsals for the live episode began on Saturday (July 21), while full dress rehearsals were held on Sunday (July 22).

Perry Fenwick said: "Summer arrives just in time for me to complete my 24th circuit of Albert Square and I'm sweltering! On the plus side, I'm starting to see abs, have buns of steel and the show is looking good too!"

Danielle Harold added: "I have known about this live episode for such a long time but all of a sudden it has crept up on us. I am really nervous but now we have started rehearsing, I am feeling equally excited. It will definitely be an experience and I hope Perry runs smoothly!"

Director Clive Arnold stated: "As the only drama asked to be involved with the Olympic Torch Relay, it is a huge honour for EastEnders and for everyone involved - a truly once in a lifetime opportunity.

"I was so excited and thrilled when I was asked to be part of the episode and I know that every member of cast and crew feel exactly the same way."

Fenwick recently told Digital Spy that he was feeling "nervous" about the live episode.
