Emmerdale airs Alicia Gallagher's temporary exit scenes later this month as she is forced to say a heartbreaking goodbye.

Next week's episodes see Alicia and David go ahead with their sham wedding plan, which was hatched so David could keep custody of Jacob throughout the feisty barmaid's stint in prison. However, at the time that they exchange their vows, Alicia (Natalie Anderson) is secretly aware that Justin has backed down from the custody fight - meaning that the wedding is no longer necessary.

In the aftermath of the nuptials, Alicia is finally honest with David (Matthew Wolfenden) - admitting that she only went ahead with the wedding because she loves him. However, David is freaked out by her declaration and makes it clear that he doesn't feel the same way.

As Alicia heads to court, she is in despair over the knowledge that nothing romantic is ever going to happen between her and David. Standing in the dock, she then hears her sentence from the judge…

Nikhil is looking more and more like a hirsute version of Harry Hill every day - judging by the photograph above. Great pics alan45. Thanks.

After rounding people up to look for Ashley, Marlon puts his feelings for Laurel aside and reassures her they will find him. In Hotten, Ashley sees the homeless pair who stole his phone. He begs desperately for them to give it back, but they refuse and mock him. Suddenly, Marlon appears and steps in to defend Ashley. The homeless pair leave and Ashley breaks down, grateful to Marlon but devastated at what has become of him.

Realising how low Ashley is, Marlon makes a surprising offer when he says that he can return to the village to stay with him. Back in Emmerdale, Ashley is grateful, but Marlon makes it clear that he has only given him this chance as a long time ago Ashley did him a favour over Trisha's funeral. Ashley understands, but cannot manage to pluck up the courage to phone Laurel.

Meanwhile, Alicia is still secretly harbouring her love for David, wishing she could just come clean about her feelings. Later, she takes the first step by admitting to David that she had known on her wedding day that Justin wasn't going to pursue a custody case over Jacob. David looks shocked and Alicia continues by explaining the real reason she went ahead with the wedding was because she loves him. David is totally and utterly shocked by Alicia's declaration and freaks out, bolting for the door.

Elsewhere, Cameron is certain that he made the right decision to stay with Debbie, while Lisa thanks Charity for her help with the loan sharks and Charity insists that she doesn't want paying back.

    Monday

Alicia attempts to explain her feelings to David, but is gutted when he tells her that he has never thought about her in that way. Later, as Alicia prepares for her appearance in court, the pressure is too much for them both. Alicia pleads with David not to tell Pollard the truth about Justin and the custody of Jacob.

A tearful Alicia then makes her way into court, knowing nothing romantically is going to ever happen between her and David. As she stands in the dock, Alicia looks helpless as she accepts her sentence from the judge. Everyone is shocked and David is devastated - he cannot believe how little she fought and blames himself.

Meanwhile, Ali is having a reading lesson with Ruby. Clearly jealous about Ruby's friendship with Laurel, she makes reference to the fact that it wouldn't be the first time Ruby had fallen for a client's relative. It is too much for Ruby, who storms out. Later, Ali feels wretched when Ruby says that she has seen a side to her she doesn't like.

Elsewhere, Chas gives Cameron his last wage packet, while Sandy visits Ashley and tells him how angry he is that Ashley couldn't come to him when things got so bad.

    Tuesday

Lisa is worried after receiving a phone call from Zak, who tells her that he is coming home. As Zak is reunited with his family, he is desperate to show Lisa and Sam that he is on the mend. He passes Lisa his medication, saying she should look after it.

Later, the loan sharks stop Zak as he is out on a walk, threateningly telling him they have unfinished business. Zak is firm, insisting that Lisa paid the money, but they explain that they still want the full amount and give him a 48-hour deadline. A devastated Zak is left struggling to work out what to do about finding the money.

Meanwhile, Ali sneaks a look at Ruby's phone, but panics when she is almost caught by Ruby and hides the phone. Once Ruby has left for work, her hidden phone begins to ring. Sean answers it and tells the caller that Ruby is out at work looking after Sandy Thomas. Later, Ali is shocked to discover that Ruby has been sacked for moonlighting. Ruby realises that Ali has been going through her text messages and storms out, leaving Ali guilty.

Soon afterwards, Laurel apologises to Ruby, feeling responsible for her losing her job. She offers to let Ruby stay on her sofa, aware that she and Ali are rowing. Ruby agrees and it makes Ali even more jealous to witness Laurel and Ruby giggling together.

Elsewhere, David tells Pollard that Alicia married him because she loves him, while Laurel visits Ashley and he is thrilled at the proposition of seeing his children.

    Wednesday

Zak is alarmed after reading a hand delivered letter. When Lisa and Sam leave for work, he grabs a shovel and heads out with his van keys. He arrives at the moorland and begins to dig, telling walkers that he is looking for something he buried. Later, he arrives home dishevelled and empty handed, having been unable to find the cash he had buried there.

Soon afterwards, Zak swallows his pride and Cain is stunned when his dad asks for his help with the loan sharks. When Cain refuses, Zak feels guilty - realising the pain his son still feels over last year's attack. Zak waits until his family are asleep before making a phone call, telling the person on the other end that he has the money.

Meanwhile, Ali is angry with Ruby for staying the night at Laurel's. She tells Ruby that she is not welcome at their house until she apologises. Later, Ali is drunk as she talks to Rachel about her argument with Ruby. She begins to cry and Rachel realises that Ali needs to see Dan, as he is the only one who can help her when she is in this state.

As the day continues, Dan takes Ali back to Bob's with him. Seeing the state his ex-wife is in, Dan tries to make her see sense. He tells Ali that she needs to make up with Ruby. Ali drunkenly thanks Dan for his advice.

Elsewhere, Laurel advises Ruby to work things out with Ali, Robbie tells Katie that she might like him if she spent less time being angry with him for no reason, while Paddy tells Rhona that the vets practice in New Zealand want him to apply for the job.

    Thursday

Zak heads off in his van, unaware that Belle has hidden herself inside after sensing that something is wrong with her father. Zak then pulls into a barn, where he has arranged to meet the loan sharks. The men lose their patience as Zak tells them that he doesn't have any money after all and they should do their worst on him, offering himself up as a sacrifice. Belle watches aghast from inside the van, terrified. She surreptitiously phones her mum, who in turn tells Charity to call Cain.

Back at the barn, the loan sharks continue to demand the money from Zak. He tries to keep calm as one of the men smashes a piece of wood against the side of the van. Zak is shocked and terrified when young Belle leaps out of the vehicle, brushing the broken glass from herself. The men are shocked - this is not what they had intended. Zak orders Belle to get out of the way and back into the van, but she refuses - prompting one of the men to force her. It's clear that Belle and Zak are in grave danger…

Meanwhile, Robbie brags about having nothing to do in the day, and Declan warns that he needs a word with him. Later in The Woolpack, Robbie is flirting with Priya when Carl arrives. Carl hints to Robbie that they are struggling without a driver. Robbie takes the opportunity and offers his services, telling Carl that he has driven a van previously so a truck will not be a problem.

Elsewhere, Ruby is stunned when Dan says she is the one person who makes Ali happy, while Debbie is annoyed as she knows that Charity and Lisa are keeping something from her.

Charity calls Cain as she drives off with Lisa. She pleads with Cain to help find and save Zak, but Cain cancels the call and turns off his phone. Soon afterwards, Charity surprises the loan sharks as she suddenly appears, skidding the car to a halt outside the barn. She threatens the men that she will tell the police they have hurt Belle. They are adamant they haven't touched her, but Belle is convincing as she understands Charity's plan and lies that they have hit her.

Belle's accusations stall the men as they begin to back off, before Charity knees one of them in the groin. Zak is relieved as Charity and Belle congratulate each other on their performances, but he also feels ashamed that he couldn't solve his own problem. Later, Lisa tells Zak that he needs to stop acting like a child and talk to her. At the same time, Charity finds out that Cain knew all about Zak's debt and tells him he isn't the man he used to be.

Meanwhile, Ali realises that Dan has set her up when Ruby arrives at The Woolpack. Both women are apprehensive, knowing they have to sort things out. Ali apologises to Ruby for the way she has been acting. Ruby makes her feel guilty for making her lose her job, but quickly tells Ali that she loves her more than the job.

Elsewhere, Paddy and Rhona talk each other into moving to New Zealand, Megan presumes that Carl has given Robbie a job for her sake, but he tells her that Robbie asked him, while Katie is uncomfortable around Robbie as he taunts her by calling her Aunty Katie.

    Friday

Lisa tells Lizzie that she doesn't know if she can forgive Zak for putting Belle in such danger. She adds that he isn't her Zak anymore and that he should have stayed in hospital. When Lizzie asks if she still loves Zak, it's clear that Lisa is unsure.

Later, Lisa arrives home and Zak tells her that Charity is taking the family out for dinner together in The Woolpack. Lisa expresses her annoyance, suggesting that all Zak cares about is getting something for free. Zak is hurt, telling Lisa that he loves her but he should probably do the family a favour and pack his bags. Lisa is saddened seeing Zak so broken and agrees that they should just see what happens. They both want to make it work, but Lisa is unsure whether they can…

Meanwhile, Paddy is nervous as he heads for the job interview. Rhona is awkward as she lies to Marlon about where Paddy is, and suggests he should spend some time with Leo. She encourages Marlon to find himself a girlfriend, but feels guilty when he explains they are his family.

Later, Paddy returns telling Rhona that his interview was awful as he was laughed at. Soon afterwards, Marlon is angry with Paddy after hearing about the job interview from Priya. Marlon leaves just as Paddy receives a call from the job agency offering him the position. Paddy and Rhona are elated, but worry about Marlon…

Elsewhere, Dan shows an interest in Chas as he compliments her looks, Carl is annoyed when Robbie returns too quickly from a job, while Chas feels guilty when Debbie asks why she hasn't been round to see her recently and asks why she and Cameron have fallen out.

I never thought I'd see the day I would be cheering for Ashley, but Laurel has become a pain in the butt, did he really BATTER his dad he give the old soak a few shoves. She has really milked this so she can dump him, he needs to fight back and put Laurel in her place.

I'm surprised its taken this long before those two are at it. Not predictable at all. She gets off with her boyfriend's nephew blah di blah di blah - she always did like to keep things in families.

Oh I will give it to the end of the months. Declan needs to kick Katie out and make Chas the lady of the manor. Him and Chas would be better suited together.

Geordie matriarch Val Pollard is soaked in this evening's trip to Emmerdale.

Reeling from mum Alicia's prison sentence, young Jacob throws a cup of orange juice over Val in the cafe.

Nikhil and David look stunned when the schoolboy exacts revenge on the woman half responsible for his mum's strife. The B&B owner is sitting down eating a muffin when she is attacked.

Back in May, a bleeding and furious Val called the police when Alicia punched her in the face.

Despite dropping charges, Alicia's previous record hindered her and she was forced to marry David to keep her son.
