    Laptop problem - windows 7

    Hi All,

I have a problem with starting my laptop. It asks me to either run start-up repair or start windows normally. When I choose start up repair, it takes about half an hour to go through the repair wizard before saying that it can't fix to problem and to shut down. Starting windows normally means I have to wait around half an hour for the "starting windows" screen to proceed to the log on page.

I haven't got a virus or malware; I'm up to date on windows updates. My laptop has been running really slowly over the past few months which probably coincides with when I first noticed the start up problem. My HDD are 82% and 11% full so I can't see how that would be causing the problem. I have 2GB RAM which has always been sufficient prior to the problem. I haven't installed any high demand software. Other than the basic/standard Toshiba programs, the only other programs I have are Office, VLC media player, Vuze, Chrome, AVG, iTunes and HP printer software.

Any help or tips would be great
    Thanks CrazyLea

Abigail.. don't know how long you have had the printer but sometimes it works fine but then you add a new program (any one, not only a printer one) and the HP printer drives the machine bananas.. can you remove the Printer and see if it makes any difference.. I don't know how it causes errors but I have seen it loads of time in my work.. again I might be totally wrong but worth a try

I got the printer with the laptop. I do have problems with it not responding although I can't remember when it started. I'll definitely look into it. I reinstalled the printer a few days ago and since then my laptop has been restarting on it's own several times.
    Thanks CrazyLea

let me know if removing it makes any difference... I was surprised when I first start seen this problem... wondered how a printer could affect so many random things... and it only seemed to be HP printers..

I will do. I've never heard of this problem before, I wonder why it happens.
    Thanks CrazyLea
