Well he owns businesses, so he takes the profits and pays the staff a wage to run them. Although he does 'work' in the Archers more than anywhere else. But yeah, Steve is always seen as having a bit more cash than the average wage slave on the Street, but I can't imagine the cab office makes a lot of money and he doesn't have the Rovers anymore. Does Becky still own half of the taxi office?

Coronation Street star Kate Ford has praised her character Tracy Barlow's upcoming feud with Beth Tinker, promising that there are "really funny" scenes in store as the pair go head-to-head.
Tracy is left furious in the coming days when Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) removes the partition wall at Number 13, allowing Underworld worker Beth and her son Craig to move in as new housemates.
Steve hopes that Beth's arrival at the house will drive Tracy out once and for all, knowing that the pair will clash.
Ford told itv.com: "Tracy is completely horrified. This is a nightmare. This cosy house where she was hoping to live for years and years and years with Steve, is now completely taken over by Beth.
"It's really funny. It's a bit more light-hearted than what I'm used to as playing Tracy, which is really nice. Tracy always has to have a public enemy number one, and at the moment it's Beth."

Lisa George, who plays Beth, also predicted that Coronation Street fans will be laughing as they watch the story unfold.
George explained: "Beth is so excited that she's moving into Number 13. She's on the street, it's right near work, two minutes away from the factory. She thinks it's hilarious that she's moving in with Tracy.
"We can expect lots of comedy to come between Beth and Tracy, with little spats and things like that. Watch out!"
