Amy explains to Belle that she is not keeping the baby, but she is secretly having doubts so she decides to visit the newborn. While in the hospital, Amy asks where she can find Cain. At his bedside and full of hatred, she tells a sleeping Cain she might keep her baby. She is unaware that he has heard everything.

Afterwards, Amy visits her baby but hesitates when the midwife leads her to him. Amy instinctively reaches into the cot to touch him. She decides to name him Kyle, which is the nickname the nurses gave him. Zak watches from the corridor, heartened to see Amy with her baby. However, when Amy sees Zak, she is concerned that he's manipulating her into keeping her son. Despite this, it's clear that his words have affected her.

Meanwhile, in the aftermath of Cain's accusation, Debbie asks Chas if Charity is protecting Jai. Chas suspects that she is, but tells Debbie that she will have to ask her for herself. With Jai accused, Nikhil explains to the factory workers that he's in charge for the time being. At home, Jai feels desperate as he waits to be arrested and shares his worries with Charity.

Elsewhere, John is irked that he's still on bail despite Cain accusing Jai.

    Tuesday

Cain tries to hide his pain and he's irritated to hear that his car has been stolen. It's only when Chas and Aaron leave the hospital room that we see the extent of Cain's agony. Chas is frustrated that Aaron is getting overly concerned about Cain, worried that it might affect him. Later, at the pub, Chas refuses to serve Charity - who reminds her that she too turned her back on Cain. There's further tension when Moira comments that if Jai did attack Cain, then he did everyone a favour.

Back at the hospital, Cain is shocked when the doctor tells him that it could take up to 18 months for him to fully recover. As Cain struggles to deal with the news, he tells Aaron to keep quiet - determined not to be in this state for long.

Meanwhile, Val is hopeful when Amy tells her that she has named her baby, but Pollard thinks Val is reading too much into it. Diane asks Val all about Kyle as Amy listens in from the stairs, unaware Val has seen her. Val explains that she hopes Amy is starting to see things her way and how she would love for Kyle to be with them for Christmas. However, Pollard tells Val that Amy doesn't need her pressure. Later, Val is surprised when Amy tells them that she may keep the baby after all.

Elsewhere, Ashley snaps at Sandy when he questions the planned vow renewals; Nikhil is feeling stressed and under pressure over the Cain situation; while Marlon is on edge when Rhona and Paddy insist that he goes to Laurel and Ashley's ceremony.

    Wednesday

Laurel and Ashley are concerned when Sandy says that he won't be at the ceremony. At the same time, Ashley is railroaded into going for a stag night drink with Jimmy, while Nicola suggests a hen night for Laurel. Later, Jimmy and Carl are amused when Ashley enters the pub with Jude and Marlon is uncomfortable when he is invited to join them.

Ashley is gutted and leaves the party when he realises that Jimmy knows about Laurel and Marlon - distraught that everyone's talking about him. Laurel is shocked when Ashley bursts in and confronts her about telling Nicola. Later, Marlon apologises to Ashley, but Ashley is furious and further incensed when Marlon suggests the vow renewal is a sham.

Meanwhile, as the Pollard family visit baby Kyle, Amy is uncomfortable as Val coos over him. Amy panics when Kyle cries as she holds him, but Val reassures her that she'll soon get used to it. Back home, Val wants to talk to Amy, hopeful about her bringing Kyle back. However, Amy remains torn over what to do.

Elsewhere, Adam is desperate to have his mum home for Christmas but Holly won't agree; Nikhil's behaviour is becoming unreasonable and Gennie forces him to address it; while Chas is shocked to learn from Aaron just how bad Cain's prognosis is

Elsewhere, Adam is desperate to have his mum home for Christmas but Holly won't agree; Nikhil's behaviour is becoming unreasonable and Gennie forces him to address it; while Chas is shocked to learn from Aaron just how bad Cain's prognosis is

Laurel stands outside the church shivering as there is still no sign of Ashley, but she pleads with Jude to wait another five minutes for Ashley. At the same time, there is a scuffle as Paddy and Rhona do their best to stop Marlon from going to see Laurel. Paddy grabs him firmly by the shoulders. In the graveyard, Ashley is given food for thought after a conversation with Carl about revenge and forgiveness.

Just as Laurel announces to the congregation that the ceremony isn't happening and they can all go home, Ashley arrives - he is ready to proceed with the ceremony yet seems evasive. At the same time, Paddy and Marlon are still grappling in the kitchen. In the end, Marlon whacks Paddy before escaping and heading for the church. Will Laurel and Ashley go through with the ceremony, or will Marlon halt the service to fight for the woman he loves?

Meanwhile, Pearl is intrigued when the police want to question her further about her statement, in which she admitted seeing Jai hanging around the garage. In the pub, Charity and Jai pretend that everything's fine as they hear Pearl talking about the police. Back home, Jai talks to Gennie, wanting to know that Nikhil will be in safe hands if the worst happens. An emotional Charity embraces Jai as he awaits his fate.

Elsewhere, Alicia feels sidelined when Andy says they're going over to Debbie's on Christmas Day, while Val and Pollard discover that Amy's mum has sent her a Christmas card.

    Friday

With the pressure of Christmas and all the questions about Kyle, Amy is confused about her feelings for the baby and asks Debbie what she should do. Both Debbie and Amy realise how much Kyle already means to Zak, who is on his way to hospital to visit him. Soon afterwards, Val is emotional when Amy announces that she wants to bring Kyle home.

Later, at the hospital, the nurse enters and hands the baby to his mother. Amy takes hold of Kyle, but it's clear from her expression that she is concerned she may be making a huge mistake.

Soon the family are home with baby Kyle and Val can barely contain her delight. Pollard wonders if Amy could be having doubts, but Amy does her best to smile and insists this will be her best Christmas ever.

Elsewhere, Laurel stresses when questioned about Marlon and Ashley at the Christmas party; Nikhil is anxious about Jai's situation and voices his concerns to Gennie; Charity wants to help Jai but he's unconvinced that talking to Cain will change anything; while Alicia feels that Jacob is being left out when she sees the castle Andy has got for Sarah for Christmas.

    SUNDAY CHRISTMAS DAY

    Hour-long episode

Amy struggles with Kyle being home as she is feeling useless, while Val adds to the problem by being overly involved. The Dingles are overjoyed to hear that Kyle is home, but their visit leaves Amy feeling overwhelmed. Pollard advises Val to take a step back and Amy is sent up to bath Kyle on her own. However, Amy feels very nervous handling him on her own, and as she sets about bathing him, she feels a flood of emotions and zones out from what she is doing.

In the nick of time, Val rushes in and catches Kyle before he slips under the water. Embarrassed and shocked, Amy flees the room. Victoria follows her and Amy eventually voices her fears that she is not good enough to be a mother to Kyle. Amy then makes a final decision over Kyle's future, with huge repercussions for them all.

Meanwhile, Alicia has to force a smile at the sight of all Sarah's lavish presents, as Jacob has got nothing in comparison. Alicia can't resist making snide comments to Debbie, and the pair's bickering ruins the atmosphere. The situation reaches a new peak when Debbie slams Alicia's face into her plate of Christmas dinner.

Later, with the dinner finished, Debbie wants to go and visit Cain. Cain is reflective about his life when Debbie wants to know what she should do about Cameron and taking her pregnancy test. Back home, Cameron leaves when Debbie tells him that she wants to do a pregnancy test. In the end, the test is negative and Debbie's heart breaks as she reads the result, fearing the worst for Sarah's future.

Elsewhere, during her shift at the pub, Moira finally plucks up the courage to go to her family - but she loses confidence when she hears them laughing as she approaches. Moira can't bring herself to knock on the door and leaves without seeing them. Inside the house, the family's frustrations boil over and Hannah's left upset after Holly has an outburst about Moira not coming up to see them. Later, Moira's devastated when an angry Adam comes to find her at the pub. Towards the end of the day, John finds the presents Moira has left for them in the barn and breaks down in tears to see one of the tags is addressed to him.

Also today, Sandy is suspicious when Ashley invites everyone round for Christmas dinner and there's an awkward atmosphere; Chas spends the day feeling hurt that Aaron hasn't got her a present but she later finds it balanced on top of the tree; Belle shares a kiss with Sean; while Hazel visits Jackson's grave.
