First of all they would test her family to see if there is a match within them, if there is no match they would then go UK and worldwide to try to find a matched unrelated bone marrow donor (MUD) from the worldwide database of volunteer bone marrow donors. There are 3 registries within the UK, the British Bone Marrow Registry (made up from people who already donate blood and have requested to go on the bone marrow register), the Anthony Nolan Trust and the Welsh Bone Marrow Registry.
