    Here you go

An actor with Down's Syndrome is set to join the cast of EastEnders, playing the long-lost son of Eddie Moon.

According to Mail Online actor Elliot Rosen will appear as Craig Moon in scenes which will be screened in the autumn.

The 32-year-old has previously appeared in small roles in Holby City and 90s drama Peak Practice - but this will be his most high-profile role to date.

The scenes will see Eddie - played by David Essex - taking Craig to meet his brother Michael, who is shocked at the revelation that he has a long-lost sibling - and even more shocked to discover he has Down's Syndrome.

The soap was previously criticised for its portrayal of the condition after a storyline in which Billy and Honey Mitchell's baby daughter Janet was born with Down's.

This time around, however, the Down's Syndrome Association has reportedly congratulated the show for shedding light on the issue of people living with the condition.

"Presenting people with Down’s syndrome living successful lives is always positive," said a spokesman for the charity.

[QUOTE=owenlee4me;752519]HOw awful that you think anyone over 50 can't snog!
I am not ageist, nor do I not find over 50's unattractive. Eastenders is only a soap for goodness sake. No need to take it as a personal insult. Sorry if I offended you.

I wasn't aware it had been so much critisized, I thought they did a fine job . To me it felt genuine. People do get shocked when their baby has down syndrome.

not offeneded just fed up that "oldies" (ie: Over 50) are still worthwhile,
and soaps need to realise that hence my comment.

EastEnders star David Essex has admitted that he will miss playing his character Eddie Moon.

The actor recently completed his stint on the BBC soap as he has a number of other projects on the way. Viewers will see Eddie bow out from Walford next week.

Essex told All About Soap: "I'll miss all the people and the togetherness of the cast. I'll also miss Eddie - playing him has involved a lot of soul-baring and it's been very challenging.

"I really wanted something to get my teeth into, and to give credit to producer Bryan Kirkwood and the writers, they certainly gave me that."

Essex named his screen sons Tony Discipline (Tyler), Matt Lapinskas (Anthony) and Steve John Shepherd (Michael) as the castmates he will miss the most, and added that filming his final scenes had been an emotional experience.

"There are some really powerful scenes coming up between Eddie and the boys in the boxing gym," he explained. "It was very hard work and all of us were crying our eyes out.

"The emotion was appropriate for the scene we were filming, but I think that the sadness also came from the fact that it was one of the last times all of us would be filming together."

Vanessa Gold, played by Zöe Lucker, also leaves EastEnders in next week's episodes.

After only four months as benevolent rag and bone man Eddie Moon, David Essex hitches up his horse and cart and heads out of Walford.

For the former pop star who has subsequently enjoyed four decades of success in film, theatre and onstage, his first major role in a soap hasn’t exactly been a resounding success. I beg to differ on that

Unfortunately, after such a lacklustre performance as the head of the Moon family trying to bring sons Michael, Tyler, Anthony and Craig together, his exit storyline is incredibly unconvincing.

While they may all briefly come together as Tyler and Anthony meet their secret half-brother Craig – who has Down’s syndrome – at a frog treasure hunt, then lunch in the Vic, the bond is quickly broken.

Eddie discovers from Craig that Michael has threatened Vanessa. And she finally has to own up to her part in trying to destroy Eddie for Michael.

“He hates you so much that he paid me to split up you and Carol, to break your heart,” she admits. “He even put a psychopath in the ring with your son. He wanted Tyler hurt.”

By Thursday, Eddie has come up with a ludicrous scheme of his own to destroy Michael and then head off to Spain with Vanessa and his boys.

“This is what they call payback time,” Eddie says. “He’s done some wicked things. Now he’s gunna find out how it feels to be on the receiving end.”

With the excellent Zoe Lucker also leaving, the question is whether Vanessa will head off to the costas with Eddie.

Let’s just say that she might still need those bottles of fake tan…
