Sammy Winward has admitted that a relationship between Emmerdale's Katie Sugden and Declan Macey has "come out of nowhere".

Upcoming episodes see the pair get together, while Declan's ex-wife Ella attempts to get in the way of the new couple.

Winward told Soaplife: "I think finding out Declan and Ella had split up was the catalyst for making Katie realise she did actually quite like him. But this has kind of come out of nowhere. The two of them have been working together for about 18 months, but there's never been any inkling that they like each other. Now all of a sudden it's like, 'Oh, he's really nice'."

When Ella's attempts at keeping them apart fail, the 25-year-old teased that Katie has her own way of responding.

"Because she wants to annoy Ella after Ella warns her to stay away from Declan, Katie thinks, 'Right, what's the perfect place for everybody to find out we've been on a date?'," she said. "The B&B, with Val as our waitress. Val will tell everybody!"

However, a "really annoyed" Ella plays dirty by telling her daughter Mia that Declan and Katie have been having an affair for a long time.

Winward added: "The only thing Ella can do is use Mia, because that's Declan's weak point and that's a nasty thing to do. Katie makes it clear she won't be Declan's secret and she also respects Mia's feelings. But I don't think it's the end of it - hopefully Mia will come round."

the moment that Aaron Livesy and his loved ones have dreaded arrives as his trial for murder begins.

When the proceedings get under way, Hazel and Adam are among those who take the stand to reveal what they know about Jackson's death. However, there's concern for Aaron as he seems strangely detached from the entire situation.

In a further twist as the trial continues, Aaron begins to be plagued by self-doubt as he hears the evidence in court - which makes him question whether he did the right thing by helping Jackson to die after all.

With Aaron fearing that he's made a terrible mistake and Chas and Paddy desperate to ensure that he avoids a jail sentence, will the troubled mechanic be found guilty or not guilty when the jury reach their verdict?

Sammy Winward spills the beans on her character Katie’s new romance…

How does Katie feel about Declan?

All of a sudden she really likes him.

Do they have a lot in common?

They’re both quite down to earth, enjoy having a good time and have got a good friendship already.

Is she worried that Declan and Ella will get back together?

She fears that she’s missed her chance. So she feels happy when Declan says there’s no way of it happening.

Can Katie see herself as the new lady of the manor?

She mingled with the posh crowd when she had a relationship with Grayson, so she’s quite comfortable at Home Farm.

    25th

Everyone seems anxious about the first day of the trial, but Aaron appears calm. As the court case begins, Chas worries about Hazel crumbling under the prosecution's questions as she's called to the witness box. Chas despairs as Hazel tries to defend Aaron's actions but is tripped up by the prosecutor and ends up implicating Aaron.

Chas leaves the court frustrated and as her emotions boil over, Aaron overhears her criticising Hazel. Aaron remains detached as Chas apologises to Hazel, telling her that she must stay strong.

Meanwhile, Declan feels guilty when Mia tells him that she'll try to stop Ella from moving to Singapore now he's finished with Katie. At the same time, Katie is resigned to the fact Mia will always come first for Declan. Later, Ella pretends to consider Mia's suggestion that she stays in England, but it's clear she's confident that she's won.

Elsewhere, Belle and Samson are unimpressed when they're forced to spend the day helping Sam at work because of the court case. Later, Samson falls in a patch of mud and demands to go home. Back at the house, Belle reassures Sam he's a good dad when he worries about Samson being miserable but is encouraged when Samson agrees to go back and help the next day.

    26th

Ashley has decided to attend the second day of the trial, but Laurel warns him to be sensitive. As Jerry is in the witness box, the judge warns him from speculating about Aaron's hold over Jackson and instructs the jury to strike his comments from the record. Afterwards, Hazel has a go at Jerry but Aaron tells her that he has a right to be there.

Aaron's full of self-doubt when the defence play Jackson's video, and Chas and Hazel are devastated when Adam is forced to admit that Aaron confessed that he killed Jackson. Chas feels bitter and worries about her son, while Aaron sits alone in his room, rewatching Jackson's video. Later, visiting Ashley at the church, Aaron gets angry as he questions Ashley over what he thinks about his actions and crumples in despair, feeling tormented.

Meanwhile, Ella makes snide remarks and tries to get the upper hand with Katie, but is thrown when Katie tells her that a grown woman should know better. Declan is unconvinced when Katie insists that she's fine about Ella laying into her. He confronts Ella, telling her to leave Katie alone or he'll tell Mia the truth about her and Adam. Katie is unimpressed when Declan tells her that he's sorted Ella but can't lie to Mia and she tells him she won't wait forever.

Elsewhere, Jimmy tells Carl about Scarlett's money trouble and they agree to pay her back with interest. In the pub, Scarlett gets angry when she realises Carl knows and walks out.

    27th

Aaron's mood is increasingly dark and when Steve arrives in the village and wishes him luck for the trial, it's clear he feels he doesn't deserve his best wishes. Once in the courtroom, Aaron is disinterested as the defence try to demonstrate his closeness with Jackson. When the prosecution try to suggest that Aaron didn't want to be burdened with Jackson, he inadvertently strikes a chord with the jury, suggesting that he thinks about Jackson every single day.

As Paddy takes to the stand, he states that he'd be proud to be Aaron's dad but his confidence is shaken when he lets slip that Aaron once hit him and apologises later for potentially damaging his case. Chas, Paddy and Rhona worry about Aaron's state of mind when he questions whether he's done the right thing after all.

Meanwhile, Alicia and Andy return from Spain but Leyla gets frustrated at the lack of answers about their move. Andy's not happy about Alicia keeping the truth from Jacob, thinking it would be better for him to get used to the idea of moving rather than surprise him at the last minute.

Elsewhere, Debbie spots that Sarah has a bruise on her arm and wonders if Samson could have hit her, while Scarlett is thoughtful when Adam tells her that life's too short and she should spend her money on what she fancies.

    28th

The prosecution and defence sum up their cases for the jury and the judge asks them to go and consider the verdict.

Chas has a go at Lizzie outside the court as they wait to be called back in, but is hopeful when Lizzie shows her and Hazel support. Zak calls them back in as Aaron re-enters the court to await the verdict…

Meanwhile, Amy, Pollard and Val move into the barn but Amy's happiness is short-lived when Jared shows up wanting more money, threatening to tell Val and Pollard everything if she doesn't give him what he wants.

Elsewhere, worried about the bruise and thinking Samson hit Sarah, Debbie doesn't want him near her. Seeing her arm, Andy is suspicious of Cameron but heads out to see Sam when they tell him that they suspect it was Samson. Sam is left shaken when Andy accuses Samson, especially as he's recently been in trouble at school for pushing girls around.

Also, Alicia doesn't give much away about moving to Spain as Leyla tries to talk her out of it, while Carl and Jimmy are shocked when Scarlett tells them that she's going to Mexico then on to Canada to live with her mum.

Aaron is shell-shocked as the jury reach a verdict.

Meanwhile, Debbie worries there's more to Sarah's bruising. Sam questions Samson about hurting Sarah but he denies hitting her. At the same time, Andy is worried about Sarah and feels dreadful when he tells Debbie and Cameron that he might be moving to Spain. Later, Debbie finds another bruise on Sarah and is fearful there's more to it than she first thought.

Elsewhere, Amy struggles with her conscience after smashing a window at the barn and stealing Val's jewellery. She feels dreadful when Val and Pollard realise they've been burgled and Val sees her engagement ring and mother's eternity ring are missing.

Also, Scarlett says her goodbyes and tells Carl she'll invest her money before leaving. Carl mocks Eve when she vents her anger and frustration about not having a job anymore.

    29th

Debbie, Cameron and Andy continue to worry about Sarah's bruises. Debbie knows Cameron is telling the truth when she says he didn't hurt her and he tries to reassure her that it's probably nothing.

Meanwhile, Amy continues to feel guilty about the burglary and Pollard starts to suspect she might know something. He's unconvinced when Victoria covers for her.

Elsewhere, Alicia eventually tells David and Leyla her and Andy's plans and is upset when Jacob says that he doesn't want to go. Leyla despairs when David thinks Alicia's being fair by telling Jacob they can come home if he doesn't like it in Spain.

Elsewhere, Aaron breaks down - overwhelmed by guilt, while Jai tells Charity that he's booked them a holiday.

Could be, but then sometimes kids are too tired to play outside for a number of other reasons, not necessarily because of illness. Hope it is not what you think it might be though
