I'll get there Lea I always do. I've already paid the £95 deposit and I've got another £100 to pay before Christmas, which I'll pay of my next month's salary.

Im in work for another 3 hours, then im off the manchester for the football! its derby day, im soo excited.

I went to the cuts demo in London today. It was a bloody long day but well worth it!! You're probably heard about the "violence" at Tory HQ. We tried to get in, a guy asked us to provide solidarity in the occupation, but we couldn't reach the front. There was a couple of thousand people just in the courtyard, two fires burning and flares going off. The bonfires certainly brought a literal meaning to the chant "build a bonfire..."

Us and the Manchester students also had a little rave outside the Department for Business and Skills, down near Westminster Abbey. You won't have seen that on the news though. We went with the intention of occupying (peacefully of course) but they saw us coming and locked the doors. We were dancing and singing to music, not causing any trouble, then the police got their asps out and came at us.

I'd like to make it clear that I DO NOT condone the violence that happened today. I believe in occupation to make a point, that was a necessary part of today, but attacking police officers and civilians, dropping fire extinguishers from the top of an eight storey building, graffiti, throwing missiles, destroying property is NOT what I stand for. The point one tries to make in an occupation is completely negated once that line is crossed. The whole media coverage is focused on that, not on the point we were making and that's not the idea of an occupation. I also think it was a dangerous idea to light a bonfire where loads of people were gathering. If there had been a riot or the line was pushed, people could have got seriously injured. I know people get caught up in the heat of the moment and they probably didn't expect thousands of people to cram into such a small space but still, its not hard to think before literally stoking the fire.

I have a video of when the first occupation reached the roof, I might upload it tomorrow.

The police presence was shockingly low though. Having been on other demos where the police line each side of the procession, we were surprised to see no police at all until we got to the Department for Business and Skills. We managed to break away through Downing Street to the Treasury without even being stopped.

I am going absolutley mental with ticketmaster, they are the worst conmpany i have ever come across, they do nothing until 3 days before your gig and then its inmpossible to speak to a human being and when you eventually get through they say they cant help you. Argh! i am never using them again. Hopefully i will get though at some point today as the events tomorrow night. i had an automated thing there saying your booking on november the 12th requires further assistance we cannot help you further phone back! what is that all about. Rant over!

It must have been terrifying for you and fellow students who went there for a peacful protest Abigail. I think these people who cause trouble at protests are not true supporters at all they just go round the country causing mayhem and distruction without thinking of peoples safety. If the police find them they should be made to join the army send them to Afghanistan to fight for their country.

i agree completley Kath! its not the same but it is kind of, i was at the manchester derby last night and there was hardly any trouble apart from a few idiots at the end and the police barging in! there was really no need for it. they do go round and not think of what they are doing to other people.

So, anyway, my wife, Linda, went into our local Morrison's today and they had black pudding on special offer - 25% off. The girl behind the counter weighed some out and said it came to £1.08.

The conversation then continued like this:
Linda: Is that before or after the 25% off?
Shop Assistant: I don't know. I think it's before the 25%.
Linda: Well take the 25% off then.
SA: I don't know what 25% means.
Linda: It means a quarter. Take a quarter off the price.
SA: How do you do that?
Linda: It's 27 pence.
SA: I don't think that can be right.
Linda: A quarter of £1 is 25 pence and then a quarter of 8 pence is 2p. So it's 27p.
SA: Are you sure?
Linda: Yes
SA: All right then.

She then marked the black pudding sale price as 27p!!!!!

I know this is not strictly my day, but I couldn't resist telling the story.
