Paddy Kirk and Marlon Dingle's friendship will be tested by Paddy's attraction to Rhona in 'Emmerdale'.

The best friends - played by Dominic Brunt and Mark Charnock - will struggle to recover their close friendship when Marlon's new girlfriend falls for fellow vet Paddy.

Dominic told BANG Showbiz: "Marlon and Paddy are like brothers and they are in love in their own way, there's a wedge called Rhona on the way. Paddy's really met his match because Rhona is a vet and they're equal people and he realises that she may like him for him. We're going to see some trouble between Paddy and Marlon."

Mark said: "Paddy doesn't go out with Marlon's girlfriend, they've split up but the lines are blurred and then it becomes so much more. Hopefully we'll recover from it. The trust has been broken though so it's going to be a rocky road for them both for a while. It will add depth to their relationship. It's about Paddy's and Marlon's marriage really."

However series producer Gavin Blythe is confident nothing could ever seriously come between the pair.

He said: "Their friendship is going to be tested. There's going to be one too many people in this love triangle. They're so loyal to each other that's what the story was always going to be about, the two of them, how they would cope with betraying each other. Their love is probably stronger for each other than it is for Rhona."

Meanwhile, Faye and Natasha's ongoing war turns violent on Emmerdale later this month as Ryan's court case draws closer.

Tension between the two women reaches boiling point after Faye offers to let Maisie move in with her - a proposal which Maisie is happy to accept.

Soon after Natasha hears the news, she arrives at Faye's to check that her fragile daughter is okay - and asks her nemesis to keep an eye on Maisie's wellbeing.

When Natasha and Faye take a walk together, it's not long before harsh words are being exchanged - and in a fiery climax, Natasha declares that Mark would still be alive if Faye hadn't turned up in the village.

An angry Faye immediately slaps Natasha, who wastes no time in retaliating…

    Monday 18th

Things are looking up for Ryan as Faye fills him in on the goings-on in the village. He prompts Faye to get Cain to watch out for her, Abi and Maisie, worried what Nathan might be capable of.

Back in the village, Maisie reluctantly accepts when Faye asks her to stay with her. She makes it clear that it's what Ryan wants and they need to look out for each other.

Meanwhile, David confronts Leyla when she seems to be getting a little too maternal towards Jacob while they're babysitting. Later, David and Leyla don't realise Alicia is behind them while they're discussing Jacob. Angry, Alicia reiterates that Leyla is not Jacob's mum - but will Leyla be able to accept this?

Elsewhere, the fallout of the collision sinks in.

    Tuesday 19th

Alicia reluctantly lets Leyla take Jacob to TJ's birthday party with a stern warning to watch what Jacob eats. At the party, Leyla lets Jacob have a piece of cake that Brenda is certain has no nuts in. However, Jacob goes into anaphylactic shock and Leyla has to quickly use an epi-pen.

Alicia quickly accuses Leyla of being neglectful and rushes Jacob to hospital. When they return, Leyla is left reeling when Alicia drums it into her and seethes she knows nothing about being a mother.

Meanwhile, Maisie is more determined than ever to make Nathan crack and winds him up by revealing that she's staying at Faye's. Later, Cain tells Maisie and Faye that Ryan has asked him to look out for them, but they insist his efforts would be received better in court.

Elsewhere, Jai makes new business plans, and Nikhil is put out when Maisie insists she just needs a friend at the moment.

    Wednesday 20th

Natasha coolly asks Faye to go for a walk, but it's not long before things get heated and the insults fly. Natasha angrily blames this on Faye, who furiously slaps her. Instinctively, Natasha returns the favour as Faye spits that, whatever happens, she and Nathan will never be free of their guilt.

United in their desire to free Ryan, Maisie gives Faye a letter for him as Faye heads out for her visit. However, she's upset to see Ryan so despondent, and in a desperate bid to help her son, she offers to lie in court for him - but will Ryan really let his mum commit perjury?

Meanwhile, Brenda guiltily admits to Leyla that there were traces of nuts in the cake after all. David insists that Leyla should make a genuine apology for slipping up. But will Alicia soften when she sees how Leyla is genuinely upset?

Elsewhere, Pearl wrongly assumes that Paddy has agreed to take her to a party; Zak realises why Jai is so interested in the old factory; and Laurel is concerned about Diane's loan from Doug.

    Thursday 21st 1900

Ryan is anxious as he is led to court, while Faye arrives with the others and is annoyed to see Natasha and Nathan already there. As the trial begins, Ashley reacts when the prosecution reveals details of Ryan and Maisie's relationship.

As proceedings continue, a terrified Nathan is called to the stand and swears to tell the whole truth…

Meanwhile, despite what's happened, Paddy looks forward to the party with Rhona and is baffled by Pearl's strange behaviour, unaware that Pearl thinks she's going with him

Elsewhere, Jai approaches Pollard and Val over a possible purchase of the old factory; Laurel reveals to a tearful Diane how she feels about her treatment of Doug; and Viv returns after visiting Donna.

    Thursday 21st 2000hrs

Faye is rightfully angry about Nathan's magnanimous answers to the prosecution's questions. A smug Nathan turns on the innocent son façade, and a thoughtful Cain notes that he's managing to make a good impression. Sam and Doug take it in turn on the stand and, though they try to show Ryan in a good light, the prosecution is damning.

Later, Natasha feels utterly alone when she can't get hold of Nathan. As she leaves him a voicemail, she's unaware that Nathan is sitting frightened in a barn, bound and gagged. Lots of people want to know the truth and know Nathan is hiding something, so who has decided to take matters into their own hands to prove Ryan's innocence?

Meanwhile, Pearl covers when she catches Rhona going to the ball with Paddy. As they arrive at the party, the pair are amused to be mistaken as a couple, but enjoy the night nonetheless. Back at the hotel, Rhona and Paddy drunkenly realise they have to share a double bed.

Elsewhere, Charity may have secured a new job when she makes a good impression on Jai, and Diane begins to worry about what people think of her recent behaviour.

    Friday 22nd

Natasha prepares herself for court and is annoyed that Nathan has seemingly abandoned her. Faye seethes that she'll be listening very closely as Natasha takes to the stand. Natasha falters at her oath as the prosecution begins, but she pulls herself together and plays the grieving widow as she gives her version of events.

Still being held captive, Nathan is terrified over his predicament and, later, we finally learn who the kidnapper is…

Meanwhile, Jai gets to work on his plans for the barn and decides there's only one way to get around the Dingles as neighbours. However, his proposal to buy their land is angrily rejected by Zak and Lisa. Moving onto plan B, Jai asks Charity to be his project manager.

Elsewhere, Moira encourages Holly to talk to Hannah about Isaac, and Rhona is embarrassed when she wakes to find her and Paddy shared a bed.

Emmerdale star Lyndon Ogbourne has revealed that fans can expect to see "terrifying" scenes in next week's episodes.

In a shock twist airing on October 21, viewers will watch as the actor's character Nathan Wylde gets kidnapped shortly after he has smugly given evidence at Ryan Lamb's (James Sutton) long-awaited murder trial.

As there are so many people in the village with a motive to cause Nathan pain, fans will be left to wonder who has taken this extreme measure as he lies frightened, bound and gagged in an abandoned barn.

Speaking about the moment that Nathan gets kidnapped, Ogbourne explained: "It's all very sudden when he's on his way home from the court."

Asked what it was like to film the gritty scenes, he added: "They were quite terrifying - both to make and to watch. They're the most exhausting and shocking scenes I've ever done on Emmerdale.

"Nathan's blindfolded and bundled into the back of a car. Then when he comes to, he doesn't have a clue where he is. He's tortured and is absolutely petrified. It's obvious the kidnapper is trying to make Nathan confess to the murder."

As viewers already know, Nathan is covering for his mother Natasha (Amanda Donohoe) as he knows that she was the person responsible for the death of his dad Mark. However, whether they will be able to continue keeping this secret under wraps remains to be seen.

Nathan, Natasha and their fellow family members Maisie (Alice Coulthard) and Will (Oscar Lloyd) are all due to depart Emmerdale later this year.

My moneys on Maisie! All that stuff coming out in court about her and Ryan, and she did become slightly unhinged because of it all!
