Dannii Minogue is "highly likely" to quit The X Factor at the end of the current series, according to a report in The Mirror today.
Citing a reliable show source, the newspaper claims that Minogue has decided to leave the show in order to move back to Australia and start a family with her boyfriend, rugby player Kris Smith.
"Although it hasn't been officially confirmed, it is highly likely Dannii won't be on the panel next year and Simon is already thinking about a replacement," said the insider.
The leading candidate is thought to be Mel B, who has been linked to the show on numerous occasions in the past.
"He thinks Mel could be brilliant as she is outspoken, down-to-earth and won't be afraid to hold back," the source added. "There were times during the current series that he felt things were a bit boring and he is certain sparks will fly with her on board. It will also be interesting to see whether she and Cheryl Cole will gel with each other - or whether it will be handbags at dawn. He thinks it could make compulsive viewing. Louis Walsh is also a huge champion of hers and has been campaigning to get her on the show."
Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland is also rumoured to be in the running for the position.
As much as i Love Danni as a person, shes not the most interesting person in the world, and i think a new judge like Mel B would really spice things up!!! If Kelly Rowland became a judge she'd finally get the recognition shes deserved, just like being on X Factor helped Cheryl's career.![]()
i think dannii will be replaced next year...but personally they should kick that cheryl out because she hasnt got a clue

Dannii is a far better judge than Cheryl, all Cheryl seems to come out with is along the lines of "wye aye man, mah little popstar" etc and telling Simon and Louis to "shut up". Dannii may not be the best judge in the world but atleast she actually gives constructive criticism.
anyway im really not that bothered about tonights final, its shaping up to be a total non event imo
Happy New Year SoapBoards!
I wouldn't say the reason The X Factor gets 14 million is because of Cheryl. The show helped boost her profile, not the other way around. Cheryl has to thank the X Factor for where she is now because without the show, I bet she wouldn't enjoy half the success she has now. 14 million viewers don't tune in just to watch Cheryl walk down the podium to the judges panel. I believe the reason it's watched by so many people is because of the clever publicity that Cowell employs.
I'd be sad to see Dannii go. She is the only judge, along with Simon who gives regular constructive criticism in my opinion.

I agree. I really like Danii. To be honest, Cheryl is one oft he reasons I no longer watch this show regularly.

'Fans unhappy with X Factor single'
X Factor fans are already put off by the winner's single, thinking the song a poor choice, a survey has found.
Joe McElderry is the odds-on bookmakers' favourite to win the ITV talent show and be given the opportunity to release his own cover version of Disney teen sensation Miley Cyrus's ballad The Climb.
But a poll for online bingo site 888ladies.com revealed that 66 per cent are unhappy that the X Factor winner - to be crowned this weekend - will release the song as their first track and it will almost inevitably become the Christmas No 1.
Joe, from South Shields, is the 2/5 favourite, according to William Hill, which predicts that £10 million will be bet on the X Factor this year.
The bookmaker has doubled its staff this weekend and expects to take up to 500 bets a minute at the peak.
The X Factor finalists - Joe, 18, Stacey Solomon, 20, and 25-year-old Olly Murs - recorded five potential songs for the winner's single and recorded the video for the chosen song this week, although it has not yet been officially confirmed that the winner will release The Climb.
Joe is so popular with fans that he has significantly boosted sales for all the tracks he has covered on the show, according to online retailer Amazon.
In the semi-final last week, he performed Open Arms - previously released by Journey and Mariah Carey - as his second song, which prompted sales of the track at the amazon.co.uk's MP3 store to rise by 5,600 per cent.
Carpe Diem ~ seize the day!
