Ben Stiller will take home the MTV Movie Awards' highest accolade at this year's ceremony - he will receive the Generation Award for his laughter-packed Hollywood career.

The Meet The Parents funnyman has been named as the recipient of the honour in recognition of giving cinema-goers some of the funniest characters of the last decade, including Zoolander, Gaylord Focker and Tugg Speedman.

Stiller kicked off his career with his own MTV series in the early 1990s, which was subsequently cancelled after one season.

But the actor remembers his time at the channel fondly, even joking he romanced veteran MTV presenter J.J. Jackson.

He says, "I am honoured to be getting the Generation Award. I was given my first show at MTV and also cancelled for the first time. I also was secretly having an affair with J.J. Jackson, so it brings back pleasant memories."

Stiller joins a stellar list of previous winners of the Generation Award, including Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler and Mike Myers.

The Golden Popcorn prizes, nominated and voted for by MTV viewers, will be handed out in Los Angeles on 31 May.

Russell Brand has warned SNL's Andy Samberg not to make any controversial comments when presenting this weekend's MTV Movie Awards.

Speaking to MTV News, the comedian shared some of the lessons that he had learned following his own stint as ceremony host at last year's Video Music Awards.

"Do not criticise George W. Bush. You will receive death threats," he said.

"Do not jokingly criticise the Jonas Brothers. You will receive less-threatening death threats... There is nothing worse than opening a letter and then seeing it is a death threat."

    P. Diddy, who hosted the VMAs in 2005, added that he would advise Samberg to "just get drunk, throw away the script and have a good time".

The 2009 MTV Movie Awards will be held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, on May 31.

MTV has announced that Kiefer Sutherland will be among the celebrities presenting at this year's Movie Awards.

The 24 star will be joined in the hosting duties by Star Trek actor Chris Pine and Sacha Baron Cohen as BrĂ¼no.

LeAnn Rimes, Ed Helms, Anna Faris and Justin Bartha are also lined up to present awards.

The ceremony is being hosted by Saturday Night Live's Andy Samberg, while Eminem and Kings Of Leon are among the musical performers scheduled to appear.

The full list of nominees was announced earlier this month.

Eminem stormed out of the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night after outrageous funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen literally landed in his lap.

The rapper had just performed a medley of new hits and was sitting in the audience when the daring Brit - as his Austrian fashion expert character Bruno - flew overhead in a dove outfit, chanting, "Ich bin Bruno. Ich bin dove of peace."

Cohen's outrageous alter-ego 'suffered' an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction - baring his naked backside, he landed upside down on rapper Eminem's lap.

The Stan hitmaker screamed, "Are you serious? Are you f**kin' serious?" as his entourage rushed to free the rapper.

What appeared to be a joke quickly turned awkward when it seemed apparent that Eminem wasn't in on the gag.

As a suspended Cohen cracked jokes about the incident, stating, "Is the real Slim Shady about to stand up?" Eminem and his entourage left their seats and walked out of the Universal Ampitheater.

Before the awards started, Cohen was stunning red carpet reporters - he turned up as Bruno, wearing a leopard skin Speedo-style swimming trunks and T-shirt ensemble, topped off with a matching Bavarian hunter's hat.
