But how do you know that all that you have read is true? How do you know that Madeleine cried and asked for them? I do agree though that they should not have left the kids alone, I spend a lot of time in Spain and young kids are always with their parents, and not just the Spanish ones, plenty of British kids are around, even in the early morning hours. The same will be in Portugal, it is their way of life. As far as I am concerned, all the stuff that was published in all kind of newspapers is mostly speculation, I do not trust 'reliable sources'. being closely connected to people working in media, I know how they can and do manipulate things. Anything to sell their stories and how better than having a little girl cry for her parents who chose to have tapas and wine with friends instead. Just my opinion.

Perdita.. it is in Kate's statement.. I have read them all... I never read the ones where is states: "a source says".. I get the info straight from everyone involved in this (through papers or documentaries) or from the police files and that remark about Madeleine crying is in the statement of Kate and of one of the other women in the party that went on holidays with them

I detest the McCanns - absolutely detest them. What I think happened to Madeleine I can't say here as it would probably be libelous (sp) so I'm sure from that you can guess my views on this case.

I have read alot from the offiical PJ files and extracts from Goncolo Amaral's book and I just hope that one day the truth comes out but I won't hold my breath.

Joanne, recommend you look at Amaral's documentary.. it is in portugese but one of the sites has an english transcript..

Why can't we have the documentary screened and the book published over here? The rest of Europe have got the book - why can't the British public have access to the truth (of the lie)?

Instead we'll have the Channel 4 documentary featuring the reconstruction which Gerry and a couple of his friends returned to Portugal to make. Why would they not go and do it when the PJ asked them too?

Gerry has said that the fund will be empty by the end of the year - that's why they're doing it, also to coincide with the 2nd anniversary obviously.

They're doing Oprah as well where they will reveal a picture of what Madeleine would look like today.

It will be interesting to see both.. but why would they go to the US when last week they said the answer lies in Portugal.. I am thinking the cupboard is bare and they need a top up...
