There's not a great deal the police can do if there are no leads to follow up. It's been 14 months now and the police and private detectives are still no closer to finding her. As sad as it is, the police can't keep using resources on a case that is unlikely to be solved.

Maybe one day she'll be found alive like Natasha Kampusch.

it could years before they find her if they ever do, I just wonder if the McCann's will face charges of neglect for leaving the kids in the room alone.

I doubt if they will ever face charges of neglect.. apparently what they did was "within the bounds of responsible parenting".. that was a direct quote from them.. there is no law to state you can't leave kids under a certain age alone as long as you check on them... it is wrong but not illegal...

I doubt so too... but Ben's mum is not hogging limelight, make blockbuster reconstruction instead of officially ones and heading to see the pope and Oprah... I don't know what happened to Madeleine but I don't think this case should have been shelved, I think if I was a parent of a missing child, I would do everything I possible could to keep the case open even if it meant I would stay under scrutiny as a suspect

I can't imagine what the parents and other family members of missing children must be going through. I know that Maddie's parents are suspects and lots of people believe they know what happened to her, but this is all speculation and none of it has ever been proven. I only hope that they are still alive and living a good life, albeit not with their real families. The other options do not bear thinking about. I hope that one day they will be found.

Perdita, it is hard to tell what happen, What annoys me most about this is that her parent suspect she was taken by a Paedophile ring but still insist she is alive and WELL.. no offence but how can you said your child is WELL if you suspect they were taken by Paedophiles??? it beggars belief and recently they asked to get over the "hurdle" of them leaving their 3 young children alone for 5 nights in a row even after Madeleine asked them why they didn't come to her when she cried.. that breaks my heart... how could they possible think it was safe, anything could have happened. A fire, and accident and yet I bet they locked up their passports and money safely...
