I have been on a few time management courses in my career, and one of the things that they all recommend is that you 'touch each piece of paper only once'.

What this means in practice is that if you are doing something that needs to be done do your best to stop interuptions, i.e. no computer, mobile phone etc with constant messages and texts.

Set yourself a target of a sensible end point, obviously if the task can be done in and hour and a half then do it - finish the task and scratch it off your to do list.

If the task is longer term, e.g. a dissertaion or long essay then it is harder to find a suitable stopping point - but it is essential tthat you try. Loads of time is wasted if you stop work at the wrong point. You may have to go over everything you have done previously just to get a handle on where you left off. Finish your point/arguement/section - and have a plan so that you know you can just go on to the next bit then no duplication.

Good luck with the studying guys - glad it isn't me! My son is doing his Highers this year and no one wants advise from their mum and dad - which is a shame because we both have loads of academic experience......

Haha Trinity... you're more than welcome to give academic advice on here anyday! I know I'd be more than greatful for any good tips you have lol

I have an interview for Brighton University, thing is... I really don't want to go there. I made a stupid decision only thinking of the social life to be honest, it's way too far from home and I know I won't settle in, but I only have one other offer apart from that so part of me says I should go.. I'm all confused

I'm having my tea now, then cracking on with my school work, tonight is my only proper free night I have to myself, and instead of going out I'm staying in to catch up... that way I can go out on Friday night instead if my mates go out and not feel bad ...and I'm goign to take the time saving tips into account too

You should talk to your tutor about it. It's a tricky situation when you only hold one offer. You have three main options.

    1. Go for the interview, and if they accept you, put it down as an insurance choice.
    2. Decline the interview and just accept the one offer.
    3. Decline the offer and the interview and go through Extra (you can't use Extra is you already hold offers).

Are you happy with the offer you already have? Do you think you will be able to meet it? Is the university known to be flexible with their offers when it comes to results day?

Remember most students who don't get a place at uni because of their results get a place through Clearing.
    Thanks CrazyLea

Yeahh I'm happy with the offer I have and that, and the Uni is flexible.. is known to be flexible anyways and I reckon I could meet their grades, it's the only place I want to go.

I've spoken to my Nan and she said that if I don't want to go I don't have too, but I think I will speak to my head of year or tutor tomorrow.
