Cool Bill Spoiler 27th November 2008

    Thursday, 27 November 2008, 8:00PM - 9:00PM

It’s the morning of PC Nate Roberts' (Ben Richards) driving assessment and while walking to his vehicle, he is amused to see his colleagues adding ‘L’ plates. PC Tony Stamp (Graham Cole), taking his role as Nate’s assessor very seriously, removes the stickers and tells Nate to prepare himself for the test.

During the assessment, Tony becomes frustrated when Nate loses a speeding stolen car which is soon involved in a hit and run. The officers quickly attend the scene where Layla Dwyer (Millie Pierce) has been hurt and attempt to calm down her terrified brother, Noel (Bradley Hall). After Layla is sent to hospital, Nate takes Noel to see his father, Sean (George Anton), to tell him about the incident and Noel is immediately blamed for not looking after his younger sister. When Tony, Nate and Sean later visit Layla in hospital, Tony begins to worry about Sean’s mental state as it becomes clear he’s not coping with being a single father.

The investigation finally uncovers Rory Gallagher (Jamie Knox) as the driver of the hit and run. Rory is interviewed and confesses to stealing a number of vehicles from the car dealer he works for. He admits to the hit and run but stuns the officers when he tells them Noel has also been involved in the thefts. A distraught Noel later surprises Nate by handing himself in.

With Sean present in his interview, he admits to stealing the cars to help his dad pay their ever increasing bills and keep the family together. He also reveals that the car dealer’s is a cover for drug transportation. Nate and Tony set up a sting and get a result when they uncover a huge stash of drugs in the cars. Tony is still concerned about the Dwyers and heads over to their house with Nate, sensing that something is wrong. They reach the house and find Sean slumped over a table, with slit wrists and no sign of his children.

As Tony tends to Sean’s wounds, Nate tentatively heads up the stairs, heart thumping as he see’s a bloodied knife and handprints on the walls. Calling out to Layla and Noel, he braces himself for the worst when he opens a bedroom door.
