    Jack is arrested
Airs on Monday, October 27 2008 at 20:00 GMT on BBC One

On the Square, Max sees the removal van parked outside Tanya's, while Ronnie also looks on anxiously. Inside, Tanya has all their travel plans laid out on the table, but Lauren doesn't look too pleased. Later in the café, Lauren's saying goodbye to Peter, while Max watches with disdain. He soon confronts his daughter over how she can say goodbye to Peter but not her father. He spots her travel documents and insists that she's going nowhere. When she stands up to leave, Max grabs her wrist and restrains Peter by the throat, prompting Lauren to protest that she hates her dad. Jack's furious when he hears what's happened and vows to sort things out before he leaves. He heads across the Square and bangs on Max's door, while Max cowers inside.

As everyone goes about their daily business on the market, Danielle jumps at the sound of a gun shot. Stacey, however, assures her that it must have been a firework. Jack returns home, where Tanya confronts him over the time it's taken him to return. Jack insists that they just need to get away and everything will be fine. PC Kenny Morris arrives on the Square and knocks on Max's door. Inside, the house is a mess with all the furniture having been tipped over. When asked as to who the intruder was, Max keeps quiet. The police officer then goes to inspect a bullet hole in the wall and insists that Max reveal the identity of the intruder.

Across the Square, Tanya, Jack, Abi and Lauren are preparing to leave for France. Just as Tanya heads for the door, an armed response team smash through the front door. With a warrant in-hand, they handcuff Jack and Tanya before pushing them out of the front door. Much to Max's pleasure, he overhears Jack being arrested for attempted murder...

Elsewhere, Darren's revising for his driving theory test; Zainab mentions a mock Oxford exam and Denise panics that Libby's missed it; Stacey bets Callum £20 he won't flirt with anyone for the rest of the day; Roxy's pleased when she hears about Jack's imminent departure; Denise confronts Libby over not sitting the exam; Stacey enlists Roxy's help in a bid to win her bet with Callum, but Callum doesn't fall for it; Archie gives Peggy her Halloween outfit – a Countess Dracula costume; Stacey and Callum share a kiss in Charlie's summer house; and Denise urges Darren to let Libby go for the sake of her future.

Morgan finds the gun in the gardens
Airs on Tuesday, October 28 2008 at 19:30 GMT on BBC One

As the police raid the house and R&R in search of a gun, Max is hiding the real firearm in a bush the Square's gardens. Meanwhile, DS Collins questions Jack as to why Max would want to frame him, prompting Jack to explain how a few weeks ago, Max 'found' a gun and claimed he's handed it in to the police. Meanwhile, Tanya assures Max that they're still going to France and refuses to believe that Jack tried to kill him yesterday. An inspector turns up and calls Max a liar in front of him. While Ronnie protests Jack's innocence to Roxy, Roxy claims that he's a loose cannon. The pair are further frustrated when DS Collins informs them that R&R is closed until further notice.

DI Turner speaks with Max about Jack's claims and informs him about the forensics they're looking for. When Max reminds him that they don't yet have the gun, DI Turner points out that if Jack did fire a gun, there would be residue on him, of which there is none. Back at the station, DI Turner accuses Jack of knowing how to commit the perfect crime as he's an ex-cop. In the Square, Lauren sees Max and drops her mobile phone, close to the spot where Max hid the gun. She picks up her phone without seeing the gun and quickly moves on. Max, meanwhile, is gutted that he's not had a chance to speak with her. A police car draws up to the house and Jack steps out. His family rush to greet him, while Max goes to retrieve the gun. When he gets to the spot, it's stunned to find that it's not there.

Later, Ricky and the kids are out trick or treating and Ricky manages to lose Morgan. When he looks across the Square, he sees Morgan pointing at something shiny and shouting 'bang, bang, you're dead'. Max looks on, his heart in his mouth. Just as Morgan goes to pick up the gun, DI Turner manages to get there first. Over the road, Jack continues to plead his innocence to Tanya, who seemingly has some niggling doubts about his story. That night, Tanya, Jack and the girls have just settled down to eat a pizza when Jack receives a text message. He quickly disappears and meets DI Turner in an alleyway. Drawing comparisons between their working methods, DI Turner hands Jack the gun and suggests that he dispose of it.

Elsewhere, Darren tries to finish things with Libby; Stacey tells Danielle that she and Callum spent the afternoon in Charlie's summer house; Libby arranges for her Oxford application to be withdrawn but is rumbled by Denise and Chelsea; Tanya tries to reassure Dot that Jack is innocent; Libby tells her mum that Oxford isn't for her; Darren ends his relationship with Libby, claiming he's met someone else; the Halloween party kicks off at The Vic; Callum tries to make Stacey jealous; after speaking to Lucas, Libby discovers the real reason Darren finished with her and decides she should leave Walford.

Max is mown down by a speeding car
Airs on Thursday, October 30 2008 at 19:30 GMT on BBC One

    One-hour Halloween special

Jack sits in his car and ponders what to do with the gun. His ringing mobile breaks the silence and he's forced to lie about where he is. He covers the gun with a newspaper and drives off. Meanwhile, Tanya and the girls are still packing when the doorbell goes – it's Max. Tanya and Max are mid-argument, while Jack's heading to his car. He reaches into the glove box of his car and takes out a pair of handcuffs. He slips the handcuffs into one pocket and the gun into another. Just what is Jack planning? Max, meanwhile, is determined to get Tanya to see what a bad man Jack is, before ranting about how she and Jack have turned his kids against him. Tanya assures him, however, that he only has himself to blame.

Outside, Max bumps into Bradley and tries to win him around. Bradley's insistent – he's ruined his life. Lauren, meanwhile, runs into Peter who is forced to reveal that it was Max who made him give her up. In The Vic, Ronnie's sympathetic with Jack when he reveals that Max set him up. When Tanya enters the pub, Jack makes a hasty retreat. Max is steadily getting drunk at Suzy's and he hears the doorbell ring. No sooner has he opened the door, has he been cuffed and bundled into a waiting car. Hell-bent on revenge, Jack drives off with his brother stowed in the back and pulls up down a dark street. A showdown between the brothers ensues.

Afterwards, Jack leaves Max alone with the unloaded gun and his fingerprints all over it. On his return home, Jack bins his blood-stained shirt before Tanya returns home. Jack's forced to lie to Tanya when she asks why he's changed his shirt. When she finds his original shirt, she's gobsmacked. As Max stumbles back into his house following his beating, Jack confesses to Tanya that he hit Max. However, he doesn't reveal the true nature of his run-in with his brother.

Jack leaves the house claiming he's heading across to the club, but Tanya sees him take the keys to Ronnie's flat. Sneaking into Ronnie's flat, he opens a safe and takes out some documents and a medal, just as Ronnie emerges from the bathroom wearing nothing but a robe. In a last-ditch attempt to get him to stay, Ronnie declares her undying love for him, but Jack resists her advances and leaves. Across the Square, Tanya finds Max in a terrible state.

Max proceeds to tells Tanya exactly what Jack did to him and when she doesn't believe him, he shows her the gun. Max begins to cry as the pair reminisce about the past and all the good times they shared. In the heat of the moment, the pair kiss. Tanya pulls away and despite Max pleading with her to stay, she walks out. Meanwhile, Jack returns to the house and finds Abi alone. He tells her that they're leaving tonight. Tanya comes through the door and asks Jack what he did to Max. As they argue, Abi overhears the commotion and leaves through the front door. As Jack tries to persuade Tanya that there's nothing going on between him and Ronnie, Tanya confesses that she kissed Max.

Max manages to load a bullet into the gun and as he's about to walk out of the house, he finds Abi on his doorstep. As they talk, Max is filled with remorse and realises the problems he's caused for his family over the last few months. Reassuring his daughter, Max decides to go and make peace with Tanya and Jack. On his way across the Square, he drops the gun down a drain and continues walking. Suddenly, there's a heavy revving sound as Darren's car speeds towards him. He's dazzled by the headlights and the car rams straight into him, throwing him over its bonnet. His eyes are fixed as his motionless body lies face down on the pavement...

Elsewhere, The Vic is packed with locals for the Halloween party; Bianca's ecstatic that the whole family's together again; Archie winds up Ronnie when he mentions Jack's arrest, but she's quick to jump to the defence of the man she still holds a torch for; Whitney and Tony share a kiss; Bradley's still bitter about Max trying to pay off Callum; Tiffany wins the costume competition; Bianca accuses Ronnie of kissing Tony; and Darren and Libby prepare to leave Walford in their car.

Lucas and Denise share a kiss
Airs on Friday, October 31 2008 at 20:00 GMT on BBC One

Tanya, Jack and the kids rush to the hospital to see Max who is in intensive care. They realise that someone should call Bradley and let him know what's happened, but before they do, Jack asks if Abi has said anything. Both Jack and Tanya look extremely worried. Back on the Square, Dot's beside herself as Bradley hasn't returned home and still doesn't know about Max's situation. Tanya asks Abi if she saw anything before Max's accident. All Abi reveals is that she heard a bang after Max walked outside. Abi's adamant that it's her fault and while Tanya reassures her that it's not, Lauren jumps in and tells her that it is.

Jack asks the nurse about his brother's condition and the nurse suggests all of his family be there for him. A shaken Jack makes a call to Bradley. Jack leaves a message for DI Turner. Afterwards, Lauren asks Jack if he'd rather Max wasn't around. Jack, however, covers his emotions and states that Max is still his brother. At Dot's, Bradley returns home and she's quick to inform him of Max's accident, but Bradley doesn't react. Dot presumes that he's struggling to come to terms with what he's heard, but is shocked when he refuses to visit Max in the hospital.

Jack and Tanya are in the hospital talking about the accident and Jack suggests that Max may have thrown himself in front of the car on purpose – at the end of the day, it's prevented them from leaving for France. Dot, meanwhile, is trying to persuade Bradley to visit his dad at the hospital, telling him that he'll regret it for the rest of his life if the worst were to happen. The doctors update Jack, Tanya and the girls on Max's situation. He has a broken leg and bruising to his spleen, along with some superficial wounds, but they're more worried about his head injuries. It's too early to say if he'll have any brain damage. As they head into the intensive care room to see Max, Bradley sees them from the end of the corridor but can't handle it and walks off.

DI Turner arrives at the hospital and asks Jack and Tanya to step outside. When Jack asks if they have any information as to what happened, DI Turner reveals that they believe they're looking at attempted murder. Both Tanya and Jack turn to each other with the same question on their lips – did you try to kill Max?

Elsewhere, Darren is questioned about his car being in the hit and run; Libby and Denise tell the police that Darren has been with them all night; Pat offers to give Bianca a makeover; Bianca confides in Pat that Tony's not touched her since he came out of prison; Denise slaps Lucas, before the pair share a passionate kiss; and Darren tells Libby that he wants her to go to university.
