wow, I mean 11% doesnt sound like a alot, but out of the whole world I suppose it is
I thought it was a third of people that were lefties.
I always wanted to be a lefty.
Thanks CrazyLea
There were quite a few lefties in my class. Not as many as ten but at least seven.
Thanks CrazyLea

I am a leftie and I was always under the impression 10% of people were.
Interestingly the statistics seems to vary with age and sex. Oldies over 80 are only 3% likely to be a leftie - and there is speculation that this is because it was less socially acceptable in the past to be left handed.
I am 43 and when I was at primary school they forced me to eat right handed and use scissors right handed. This has stayed with me till this day. They didn't manage to get me to write right handed though - I just cannot do it.
Among younger people 13% are left handed - I guess the 11% is an average that will go up as older people die.
i agree with what youre saying about it being less exceptable in the past than it is now. someone i know joined my school when she was 7, previously she had been to a private school since the age of 3 (nursery) and they had made her write with her right hand. she still chooses to write with her left hand but she can now also write neatly with her right hand. i was shocked when she told us, but obviously from what youve said its not that uncommon
