Val is alarmed when her holiday friend pitches up. Donna vows that she's through with Ross and the police. Doug looks forward to Hilary's return.

Tuesday 26th August 2008

Unhappy Birthday.
Anna's plans are thwarted when Donald, furious that she has gone on a date with Matthew, gives Carl the money to buy Mill Cottage. How will she react to her father's betrayal? Laurel organises a birthday party for Arthur. But she is later devastated to see Doug crumble after receiving a call from Hilary - telling him that she wants a divorce. Ross tries to convince Donna to stay with the police.

Val and Paul begin to see Bonnie's true colours. Doug is in denial about the breakdown of his marriage. Katie returns to find her business failing.

Thursday 28th August 2008
Val and Paul eventually get rid of Bonnie. Laurel is alarmed by her father's reckless behaviour. Jo is pleased to see Andy's softer side.

Friday 29th August 2008
After a blazing row, Jo throws Andy out. Bob struggles to cope with the shop and the cafe. Doug calls time on his fling with Bonnie.

Val (Charlie Hardwick) employs all of her tried and tested methods to get Pollard's (Chris Chittell) forgiveness, but when holiday friend Bonnie (Sue Jenkins) turns up, Val has more questions to answer. Mentioning that Val didn't tell her she was married, Pollard plies Bonnie with drinks in the Woolpack to find out more about their holiday exploits. When he invites her to stay with them, Val worries that she may have had an affair on holiday and that Bonnie's proximity will cause the truth to come out.

Meanwhile, Marlon (Mark Charnock) is unable to raise Donna's (Verity Rushworth) spirits in hospital and when Ross (Samuel Anderson) delivers the news that she's hot gossip at the station, Donna only feels worse. Feeling that Ross doesn't support her actions over Viv, an upset Donna announces her intention to leave the police force.

Elsewhere, Doug (Duncan Preston) looks forward to Hilary's return when it's decided to throw Arthur (Luis Townley) a birthday party. Breezing through work, Doug expresses that absence has only made the heart grow fonder.


Tuesday 26 August

Anna (Emma Davies) is furious when she finds herself in the middle of a bidding war with Carl (Tom Lister) over Mill Cottage. When Carl asks Jimmy (Nick Miles) to buy him out of the family business so he can outbid Anna, he is stunned to hear of King & Sons' financial dire straits. Desperate, Carl complains to Donald (Michael Jayston) about Anna, but when he tries to contact his daughter, the entrepreneur is wrathful when it transpires she's on a date with Matthew (Matt Healy). In his anger Donald gives Carl the money he requires to win the property.

Elsewhere, at Arthur's (Luis Townley) party, Doug (Duncan Preston) decides to leave the village and is happy when Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) supports him. When the party is over, Doug receives a phone call from Hilary, who has missed the whole thing. The room goes silent as Doug reveals that his wife has asked for a divorce. Laurel feels powerless as she watches her father crumble.


Wednesday 27 August

Val (Charlie Hardwick) tries to send Bonnie (Sue Jenkins) on her way but is stopped in her tracks when Bonnie reveals that the 'Derek' tattoo refers to a barman they met on holiday. Convincing Val that it will be their secret, Bonnie forces her into another all-day drinking session and finds herself at Paul's (Mathew Bose) for the night when Pollard (Chris Chittell) kicks the drunken pair out. When Bonnie falls into a deep sleep, Val is horrified to discover a tattoo on her friend dedicated to their holiday experience.

Meanwhile, Doug (Duncan Preston) scorns both family and friends when news of his marital breakdown begins to spread. Drowning his sorrows in the pub, Doug decides to flirt with Bonnie and soon the pair are causing havoc, with Bonnie dancing on a table. After much damage is caused, Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) throws the two of them out and a furious Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) marches her dad home.

Elsewhere, Katie (Sammy Winward) returns from her break and is pleased to hear that Gray has left the village. However, she discovers he has taken revenge when she finds the stables empty, and complains to Matthew (Matt Healy) that Gray has been spreading lies about her reputation. With Katie's business faltering, Matthew warns her that he may have to consider an alternative tenant.


Thursday 28 August

Bonnie (Sue Jenkins) states that her daughter no longer wants her to visit so she must remain with Val (Charlie Hardwick). Suspicious, Paul (Mathew Bose) redials the number and reaches the speaking clock. Rounding on Bonnie, Paul manages to extract the truth that Bonnie has no daughter and invented the lie because Val is her only friend. When he also discovers the affair was a lie, Paul agrees to keep Bonnie's secret as long as she leaves the village. Val is thrilled with her son's work and looks forward to getting her marriage back on track.

Also, Jo (Roxanne Pallett) is caught by surprise when Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) leaves Sarah (Sophia Amber Moore) with Debbie (Charley Webb) so they can spend the day painting the kitchen. Jo enjoys spending a stress-free day with her husband and they get more intimate after a few more glasses of wine.

Meanwhile, Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) can't believe it when Doug (Duncan Preston) returns from a shopping trip with a flash new sports car. She accuses her irate father of having a mid-life crisis and he does nothing to dispel her fears when he kisses the brazen Bonnie. Watching the badly-matched two-some drive away, Laurel fears that the worst is yet to come.


Friday 29 August

Andy's (Kelvin Fletcher) temper flares up when Jo (Roxanne Pallett) refuses to discuss having babies with him. Grabbing her shoulder, Andy is taken aback when Jo wrestles free from his grasp and calls him a wife-beating monster. Ordering her husband out of the house, Andy gets drunk and a worried Daz (Luke Tittensor) encourages his brother to patch things up with Jo. However, the family are worried later when Andy doesn't return home and his mobile is switched off.

Elsewhere, Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) implores Bob (Tony Audenshaw) to seek help from Jamie (Alex Carter) in the midst of spiralling pressure at the café and Post Office. However, on arriving at the B&B, Bob falters and fails to ask his son for the assistance he so badly needs.

Meanwhile, Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) is mortified to discover that Doug (Duncan Preston) spent the night with Bonnie (Sue Jenkins). Though initially indignant, Doug soon grows weary of his companion and asks to cool things down.

However, the overbearing Bonnie insists on accompanying Doug back to the vicarage where they are met by Ashley (John Middleton). Sensing Doug's discomfort, Ashley states that certain ground rules stand in a house of God and Bonnie is less than thrilled about an alcohol and sex free residence. Bonnie leaves for good, but Doug's problems are far from over.
