Who on soapboards uses a Mac?

I brought a macbook last week, a bit pricey at £700, but well worth it! It's very stylish, smaller and more easy on the eye. The operating system looks and works a treat. Takes about 30 seconds to load up as oppose to 5 minutes on a windows laptop. And whenever i plug in hardware, it's simple - plug and play - love it! Everything is so much tidier, easier and more effeciant!

So for those who have a mac, which do you prefer?

I seriously think that once you go Mac, you never go back!

Not true... I had a mac and went back... I didn't find it very friendly at all and you can't use anything you save on a mac on a windows machine and vice versa... maybe it has changed as it was years since I used one but I found it horrible at UNI cause I couldn't load my reports at uni to print out.. went and got myself a windows system to make my life easier

I have to use a Mac when i do editing once a year and i hate it. It's good for something yes, but i still prefer my windows

I think it's still like that. Apple and Microsoft are rivals, there's no way they'd make their systems compatible.

Considering the majority of people and places use Windows (personal, schools, colleges, uni, workplaces etc) I'll stick with M'soft and make my life easier

you can get microsoft office for mac, so it saves it to the right format to use on windows. and also my screenwriting software Final Draft allows for it to be used on both, so no problems them.

i honestly find it easier to use than windows, for first time users of computers, i think mac is far more user friendly.the only reason people get confused with macs is becuase they've been used to windows, and it is fairly different.

Windows for me, I onlt went on a Mac once and really didnt like it at all

ive never used a mac. though someone on my course at uni got one cos her brother does something with computers and told her they were better, she seems to like it. i think ill stick with windows though

I use several operating systems. I have a macbook pro which I'm selling. As much as I like the Mac, I'm not a zealot that thinks the Mac is the greatest OS ever. The OS is good but like every other OS has its failings.

My first gripe is the single buttoned mouse. Far from being intuitive, I find it a hinderance. An expert user will operate more efficiently with more that one mouse button. Mac zealots argue that the one mouse button system makes it easy for new users but I remember the good old days of the Archimedes. That had 3 mouse button and it was the easiest to use.

My second gripe is the single menu bar. That is a throwback to the old days when a computer could only run one application at a time. Why does the Mac insist on keeping a legacy idea?

Finally, what annoys me most about the Mac is the Mac community. Most of them can't appreciate that not everyone believes in the Apple hype and that no one OS is better than any other. It comes down to what suits your purpose and what you feel most comfortable with.

If I had to list my favourite OS it'd have to be RiscOS, Linux, Vista, Mac

totally agree Rimmer.. I find Mac users can be pompous at times.. I like linix system, very hard to use if you are a newbie but a lot more stable than window.. win98 was by far the best windows system... I am going to give O/S (IBM system) a go.. I believe it is a very stable system, just got crushed under windows and never had a chance to develope
