    'Casualty' star fighting breast cancer

Former Casualty star Rebekah Gibbs has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The actress, who played paramedic Nina Farr in the BBC medical drama until 2006, underwent surgery on Wednesday to have a lump removed.

She first noticed it while seven months pregnant with daughter Gigi, who was born 11 weeks ago.

She wrote on her Mirror blog before the surgery: "By the time you read this, I will be lying on an operating table as surgeons try to cut out a lump from my breast.

"It's a fairly small lump really, about the size of a walnut, but it is doing a great job of trying to screw up my life at the moment."

The 35-year-old revealed that she was given her final diagnosis last week, writing: "First a male doctor asked me gravely: 'What do you know about cancer? I think you've got it.' Two days later a cancer specialist nurse told me gently that his hunch had been right.

"She didn't use the word aggressive, but I know that it is. I don't need to look up statistics on the internet to know I may not make it."

She added that she had saved some mementos for her daughter while she was still pregnant, saying: "I packed up boxes of photos, keepsakes and memories as a legacy for my unborn baby, I wanted to have my things in order. I just didn't imagine I'd need to do it so soon."

This is so sad to hear, especially when this should be such a happy time for Rebekka and her family. Let's hope she makes a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks to Vicky for my great new banner xxx

EASTENDERS was in chaos yesterday after soap beauty Samantha Janus plunged down stairs – smashing her shoulder.
The blonde, 35 – who plays Ronnie Mitchell – was rushed to hospital in agony.
Mum-of-two Sam was last night recuperating at home after doctors confirmed her shoulder was fractured.
The actress tripped as she dashed to go to work.
Her character is in the middle of a major storyline – leaving the BBC1 soap’s production schedule in tatters.
Ronnie is secretly romancing her old flame Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) – after he cheated on her with his ex-wife. A studio insider at Elstree, Herts, said: “Sam was due on set yesterday, so we had to cancel her scenes.
“We don’t know how long it will take her to recover.”
An EastEnders spokeswoman said: “We hope Sam feels better soon.”
Peter: So how many are there? Is it bad? Olivia: Did you eat? Peter: Yeah. Olivia: Well, that's unfortunate.

    Coleen McLoughlin axed by Asda

Coleen McLoughlin has been axed by Asda as the face of its George fashion range.

The girlfriend of footballer Wayne Rooney will reportedly be replaced by French model Carla Bruni.

According to The Sun, Asda was impressed by Bruni during her recent visit to the UK with her husband President Nicolas Sarkozy.

A spokesperson said: "Among the names being considered is Carla Bruni. She’s very attractive and a highly stylish person. We feel she would fit in very well with the George look."

Speaking about McLoughlin's departure, brand director Fiona Lambert said: "Coleen has been a fantastic ambassador for us, but we want to show that our core fashions are for everyone.

"We have been chasing younger customers rather than people who shop at Asda week-in, week-out - namely mums and dads who buy their clothing during the weekly shopping trip."

    Miley Cyrus to write autobiography

Teen star Miley Cyrus has agreed a deal to write her autobiography.

The 15-year-old has signed a seven-figure contract with Disney Book Group to pen her life story, reports People.

The memoir will follow the actress/singer from her childhood in Tennessee to international stardom following the success of Disney show Hannah Montana.

It will mainly focus on her relationship with mum Leticia, but will also discuss her father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.

She said in a statement: "I hope to motivate mothers and daughters to build lifetimes of memories together and inspire kids around the world to live their dreams."

The book, which will include previously unseen family photographs, is scheduled for release next year.

I'm sure she's going to have lots to write about from her fifteen years of life

I don't even know who she is. God knows why the autobiography is aimed at. I doubt young children or teens will understand or want to read it.
