My sister got another dog last week. He's called Bramble Pie and he's a gun dog. His owner died and the new owner hasn't been treating him well so my sister rehomed him. They were going to get a puppy and train him up as a gun dog but they have a three year old lab fully trained for free.

Bramble is really stubborn and digs his claws in. He wouldn't even go inside the house when it was -6C last week because his previous owner made him sleep outside all year round. I don't think they will be able to use him as a gun dog for a few months, they've got a lot of work to rehabilitate him.

Aww, the poor dog. He is obviously so confused. I go to Spain regularly and don't wish to post what the Spanish do to their gun dogs /racing dogs once they are past their career, I am pleased your sister has given the poor soul a new home, she also needs to give him time to re-adjust, might take a while though.

He's only three years old which makes it even worse.

They got another rescue dog a couple of years ago that had been beaten and abused by children. He'll never be a normal dog but he's as close as it gets. At one point he refused to have his collar taken off or be left alone with anyone except my sister's boyfriend. The vet said she's never seen a rescue dog rehabilitated as well as Rocky. To look at him now you'd never know he'd been skin and bone when they got him.

I hope that they keep him and don't give up on him. The poor sausage does not know that he can trust them not to do horrible things to him and it will take time for Rocky to totally put his trust into the new owners.

There's no chance of them giving up on Bamble. After all the work and expense that is put into a gun dog to train them you can't just let it go to waste.

Bramble was initially on a trial with my sister and her boyfriend to see if they suited each other. Obviously if you don't trust the dog and vice versa then you aren't going to have a good working relationship. When he arrived and they realised what condition he was in they both said he wasn't going back. They thought he was a black lab, after giving him a bath and he came out white.

I don't know how people can be cruel to animals.

Rehibilitating animals is hard work but rewarding. Although not as much work as dogs we rescued chickens from a battery farm a few years back and had to teach them everything because they didn't know what anything was e.g. grass, rain. Remember everyone buy free range eggs
Peter: So how many are there? Is it bad? Olivia: Did you eat? Peter: Yeah. Olivia: Well, that's unfortunate.

We always buy free range eggs. I don't eat eggs but apparantly they taste better.

The conditions battery and barn chickens are kept in are appalling. I don't know how farmers can think it is morally and ethically right.

had quite a good week. my sis was staying down with me cos shes on half term so we went shopping on wed, i got a skirt which i thought was £12 but was actually only £5 (and it was an age 14yrs lol!) played around for absolutely ages in hawkins bazzar, dont know if any of you know that shop but its amazing! then went out in the evening, my housemates bailed out on me so it was just me and my sis but it was a good night

yesterday it was my dads bday so when my parents came down to pick my sis up we all went out for a meal

today i spent most of the day in the library trying to do research for my essay without much luck. i hate the librarian she was really horrible to me! then went cheerleading and we started learning the routine for the competition so it was really fun!
