    Post Temporary Internet Files

Okay this post is like a reminder/note/question!

Note/Story: I filled up 40GB of my C drive memory, thinking it was my photos and files and started using my D drive.. I thought I would just delete some files through the internet options.. it took about an hour so I thought my comp froze and closed it. Just thought if it would affect my disk space and it did! I did it again and once it finished I checked how much there was.. it took two hours to delete 30GB out of 40GB on my C drive.. All full of temporary internet files!
I didn't know there was really such a thing and I was shocked! Glad I got plenty of memory now though!

My Question: Where can I view my temporary internet files? + What are they?

My reminder for all you's out there: Check your disk space and delete them files ;]

    Thanks in advance! x

Temporary Internet files are downloaded to speed up your viewing of the internet. Each time you visit a web page temporary files are downloaded so as next time you visit the same site you see it quicker. Some files are used by the site owners to establish who is visiting them and they get a lot of statistics from them. 30gb seems an enormous amount. Are you sure you have your computer set up correctly.

They are usually stored here C:/Windows/temp/temporary intermet files

Thank-you for the answer. I haven't cleared it out for a while and I do view alot of different pages everyday and use the computer alot so it seems alright. I'm pretty sure everything is set up correctly.. I shall be clearing it out once a month or so from now on! Thanks once again x

    30GB out of 40 - that's 75%

You can set an option to limit how much disk space is used for temp files as a % of the complete disk space

Did you get rid of them through the Disk Clean-up function? That will delete other things as well, you see. Like files you have deleted, temporary files, that kind of thing. Some of the files you deleted might have been other kinds, and so the temporary internet files might not have gone over the limit set.

Can I ask when was the last time you did a scan disk or defrag on your computer?
Free progs like http://www.ccleaner.com/ or http://disk-cleaner.safe-install.com/ wil keep your computer in tip top condition. I use this one and it`s brilliant http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html
