Stuart is drinking with Jon and Mandy in the pub.

Stuart: So what do you think of the new owner of the nightclub?

Jon: I didn't realise it had been bought..

Stuart: Looks like Craig's bought it for Leah..

Mandy: Expensive birthday present...

Stuart: It's her birthday?

Mandy: Yeah, not that I care anymore...

Jon: (sarcastic) This is great! Just what we need! The jewel in his crown! How long before he starts dealing his drugs in there?! Kids ODing left right and centre!

Mandy: Don't get involved!

Jon: Sorry Mand', but i've got to say something to him about it..

Stuart has a devious look on his face, pleased that he's stirring up some trouble for Craig.

INT. DANIEL'S NIGHTCLUB - NIGHT

Craig and Leah are inside the club, walking around and checking the place out.

Leah: How did you manage to buy this?

Craig: Kyle was in a tricky situation so he sold it to me.

Leah: This best have not been a repeat performance of what you did to the Singhs...

Craig: I swear it's all above board and lefit, he needed money for his bail, so he sold me this place at a discount price.

Leah: The decor's alright...

Craig: What are you gonna call the place?

Leah: I quite like the name Saphhire...

Craig: I'll get on to the sign makers later, if we sort evrything out we could have this place re-opended by the end of the month...

Jon: Not if I have anything to to do with it...

Craig and Leah turn around to see Jon in the doorway, looking moody and meaning buisness.

EXT. GAY BAR - NIGHT

Val and Gavin walk out of the club and flag up a taxi. As they walk across the pavement someone rushes up to them and grabs Val's handbag.

Val screams and tries to resist, but the force of the mugger sends her to the floor. Gavin chases after the mugger, and corners him down an alleyway.

Gavin: Give that handbag back!

The mugger drops the bag and barges past Gavin, rushing off into the distance. Gavin picks up the handbag and returns to a shaken Val.

Val: Oh thank god, you got it back!

Gavin: Are you alright?

Val: Yeah, just a bit shaken, god you're my night in shining armour...

The taxi driver beeps his horn with impatience. Gavin walks Val over to the taxi and opens the door for her.

Gavin: Come on, in you get...

Val: Do you want to come back to mine for coffee?

Gavin: I've told you already...I'm gay...

Val: So is half the world!

Gavin: I really should be getting home...

Val: Maybe in another lifetime eh?

Gavin: Maybe...Bye Val...

Gavin closes the door to the taxi, as it drives off she looks back at Gavin.

Gavin Richards (Jason Donavon)

Born in Australia, Gavin is a gay hairdresser who is now living in Devon. Val firsts meet's Gavin by chance in a gay bar, and the pair soon become good friends. Gavin is not your "typical gay", he is very introvert and modest, and doesn't conform to the general gay stereotype. He is calm and collected, down to earth and reasonable, the chalk to Val's cheese.
