    News from mugglenet

Printing of DH begins in Germany
Printing of DH begins in Germany The Mirror is reporting today that initial printing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has begun at a GGP print factory in the small town of Poessneck, Germany. Reportedly, staff at the factory are searched when entering and leaving the factory each day. Furthermore, they are forced to work in "total darkness" to prevent them from reading the book. While we already know that security is stricter for this book, this seems to be a rather outlandish measure (and, well, The Mirror is a tabloid).

Scotland now under consideration for HBP filming

The Scotsman is reporting that Warner Brothers is looking into several locations in Scotland for Half-Blood Prince:

Warner Bros, which is preparing to shoot Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, has sent an executive to the cliffs and caves around Cape Wrath, and also to a sea cave close to the Whaligoe Steps near Wick, and has been in talks over filming in the north.

The producers are interested in using the caves and cliffs as part of the dramatic climax of the new film - the sixth in the series - in which the heroes wind their way along a sea-lashed coastline in search of the soul of the evil Lord Voldemort.

Sue Quinn, a London-based locations manager with Warner Bros, travelled to Scotland last month, taking a boat trip from Lochinver around Cape Wrath towards Durness, and then heading to Wick to check out the shore and caves at Whaligoe, near Lybster.

You can find a list of areas Quinn checked out on the Scotsman's website. Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip!

    news

I know this isn't strictly HP news but it's a good idea. From the usual place:

According to a new report today, Jo Rowling may have bookmarks bearing the face of missing UK child Madeleine McCann placed in each copy of the British Deathly Hallows.

Madeleine's father says, "There has been some indirect contact with her. We are thinking about getting bookmarks with Madeleine's photographs and getting the author's agreement. Someone like JK Rowling has got massive appeal and a Harry Potter book would be ideal."

You may remember that Jo already donated money to the reward for anyone who can help find this girl.

An update on that crazy woman who is trying to get HP books banned from school libraries:

A judge in Gwinnett County, Georgia ruled on Tuesday that the Potter books can stay in school libraries (after local concerned parent Laura Mallory tried once again to have them banned from schools and libraries). After all of these attempts in court, Mallory has finally admitted she may "need a whole new case from the ground up."

I don't get why this woman would think that a court would dream of banning HP books. It's not like the books are telling people to go out and do witchcraft (it's wizadry in the books, Laura) and kill people. It's fiction and it's not to be taken seriously! Get a life woman.

    News updates

Deluxe US 'Deathly Hallows' cover art!
Scholastic has released the cover art for the deluxe edition of the American Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

David Saylor, Vice President, Creative Director, Scholastic described the art: "Set during a highly dramatic sunset, Harry, Hermione, and Ron--clothes in tatters--cling atop a flying dragon in this astonishing artwork created by Mary GrandPré for the deluxe edition. As mist creeps down towering hillsides to a village below, questions arise about where the trio is headed and what has led them to this spellbinding moment."

The book will contain 816 pages compared to 784 pages in the regular edition and will cost $65; 100,000 copies are being printed.

Why can't we have a deluxe set?

    JK Rowling interviews aboutDH

It was announced this morning on NBC's Today Show that Jo will give a rare television interview about the outcome of Deathly Hallows, as well as her plans for the future, shortly after the book's release. This is scheduled to air in the US on July 26th, July 27th and "Dateline" on July 29th.

Thanks to everyone who sent that in!

UPDATE: UK fans will not miss out, as Jo will also make an appearance on BBC One's Jonathan Ross on July 6th. We'll most certainly have a video of this online shortly after it airs.

UPDATE #2: Another appearance has been scheduled, this time for BBC children's show, Blue Peter on July 20th, just a day before the release of Deathly Hallows.

Yeah, the price is a bit extreme (about £32 I think) but lots of people are going to want to buy it, if only to read the extra 32 pages. To be honest though, it would make more sense to put the whole series in a box set type thing like this.
