    Smoothies - Ideas

Just a thought - as smoothies are "the" thing to have (and I love them ) I thought maybe people could put their recipes/ideas for smoothies in this thread, rather than paying £2 or £3 for a bottled variety.

My fave homemade one at the moment is apple, banana, strawberries, splash of orange juice and ice.

Any more concoctions you can think of ? I'll add more when I think of them (although for a nice milkshake style one, have a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream, bananas (or strawberries etc) and some milk - yummy!)

Me and my mate made one, it was
Starwberry and banana, with a few shots of tropical juice and a couple if apple juice. Vanilla ice cream, milk and crushed ice all added to it aswell.
It was very nice! A bit like a milkshakey one!

i used to have the every morning coz my housemate had this fantastic blender, i miss it!
one GREAT thing for smoothies are those bags of frozen berries you can get at tesco/wherever, they really thicken up the mix and a little goes a long way. plus they're yummy coz you can get more expensive things like cherries cheaper frozen. and you dont have to defrost them, just chuck them in the blender with a banana and a satsuma or something and you have a nice cold smoothie. mangoes are also really good in smoothies too coz they're nice and thick.
my other one was to do ones with milk and a cheap yoghurt in them. my fave was milk, a banana and a walnut yoghurt. and i did make a 'peaches and cream' type one with a yoghurt and an actual peach.

    Now that sounds nice LostVoodoo!!

The other thing I heard, was to freeze Bio Yoghurt and to use that with some orange juice and your fruit etc and that makes it really creamy too.

That sounds different!! Nice though - might have to give it a try. I love the way you can make them from all things you already have at home too, rather than having to make a special trip to the shops to go get the stuff.

Does everyone make their own, or buy in a bottle etc.

My new blender is arriving soon, so shall be using that, but have been known to buy fresh off a smoothie stall quite local to us too and theirs were freshly made in front of you and was delish!
