Pacey should of gone with andie again in the end i think, as he said on the dvd extended scene thing "you were always the first" meaning the first perosn who made him believe he could be something, that would of made my ending, and jen not dying too, it would of been nice to see her finally happy after all of the times she has not been.
Yes I understand what your saying about the whole Dawson and Joey soulmate thing. It did seem that they would end up together. But when Joey was talking to Jen at the hospital she said that she'd always known who she wanted, she didn't mention Dawson. Maybe deep down she always had hidden feelings for Pacey. It was always a love/hate relationship. I really love Pacey. Andy may have been his first love, but I think his love for Joey was stronger. He did carry his feelings for her around with him for a long time. I liked the idea of Pacey and Joey being together. I felt sorry for Dawson but it was obviously what Joey wanted.

Jen's ending was quite sad but I liked the idea of her giving Lily to Jack. You could tell that he was going to make a really great father. Jack and Jen got on so well, and I'm sure Jack would bring Lily up in the way that Jen would have done.

Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek dies aged 48

The actor publicly shared his bowel cancer diagnosis in 2024.

Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek has died at the age of 48 following a battle with bowel cancer. The actor's family confirmed the sad news in a statement today, sharing that the beloved star had passed away "peacefully".

His wife of 16 years, Kimberly Van Der Beek, took to Instagram to announce his passing alongside a portrait of the actor. "Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning," she wrote.

"He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband,

    father, son, brother, and friend."

James and Kimberly married in 2010 following his divorce from his first wife, actor Heather McComb. He and Kimberly share six children.

Van Der Beek was best known for the portrayal of Dawson Leery in The WB's teen drama Dawson's Creek, which originally aired between 1998 and 2003. He played the lead role opposite Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams.

The star also famously portrayed a fictionalised version of himself on ABC's short-lived comedy Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, also starring Krysten Ritter in the lead role.

Among his most recent acting credits, Van Der Beek appeared in Ryan Murphy's Pose as Matt Bromley. Last year, he was cast in Legally Blonde prequel series Elle, with the upcoming series marking what will be his final TV appearance.

Tributes have been pouring in from fans and fellow celebrities alike, with Van Der Beek's The Real Full Monty co-star Tyler Posey writing: "Love you brother."

Step Up star Jenna Dewan, who took part in the 2019 season of Dancing with the Stars alongside Van Der Beek, wrote: "I will always and forever remember your sweet gentle soul. My love and prayers with Kim and the entire family."

Melissa Joan Hart, who starred alongside the actor on Clarissa Explains It All, wrote: "I'm heartbroken to hear that @vanderjames has passed away! He was truly a nice guy, a great father, wonderful actor and will always be my first on screen

kiss when he guest starred on #ClarissaExplainsItAll.

"Gone way too soon but it seems like he put up one hell of a fight ... My thoughts and prayers go out to his 6 kids, his wife and family!"

Van Der Beek's Dawson's Creek co-star Chad Michael Murray also paid tribute on Kimberly's post, writing: "Sending love and light to your beautiful family. James was a giant. We?re so so so sorry for what you?re going through. His words, art

and humanity inspired all of us- he inspired us to be better in all ways. God bless you guys.?

Last September, Van Der Beek had to sit out the highly-anticipated Dawson's Creek reunion due to illness. The evening saw the cast reunite to raise money for F Cancer and Van Der Beek, with Lin-Manuel Miranda stepping in his place. Steven

Spielberg ? Dawson's favourite director and inspiration throughout the series ? also made a video appearance.

While unable to attend in person, Van Der Beek joined the event remotely in an emotional video message, saying: "I can't believe I don't get to hug my cast mates."

He also addressed the love rivalry with Jackson's Pacey on the show, joking on the infamous Crying Dawson meme that has since taken over the Internet.

"Now, nobody in their right mind would ever draw a parallel between the two, but one very big similarity between Dawson and the Phantom of the Opera is that both of them were faced with the reality that the woman they loved truly loved

somebody else, said, 'Go to him. Go to him now before I change my mind'. Only one resulted in a crying face meme."
