Coronation Street's crazed Becky Swain drives terrified Lisa and Betsy straight into hell on Corriedale next week ? triggering the devastating atrocity that will scar Weatherfield and Emmerdale forever. Hellbent on fleeing the country with her family, Becky speeds off with her wife and daughter, believing that she's won the battle for Lisa's heart.

However, as the trio race towards the ferry, Lisa receives a call from her beloved Carla. It's a surprise phone call that sets off a domino effect of disastrous proportions ? as a last-minute swerve from Becky results in a deadly multi-car pileup?

"Within a split second, it's catastrophic!" declares Vicky Myers, who plays Lisa. "Life is never going be the same again, for many reasons. The episode is a reset for many of the characters in Weatherfield."

For months, Lisa has allowed her resurrected wife back into her life for the sake of Betsy's wellbeing, despite the heartbreak it's caused for Carla.

While Carla was able to spot Becky's manipulation and scheming, Lisa trusted the word of the wife she thought she'd lost for good.

So, when Becky orchestrates a plan to make it look like the whole family is being targeted, Lisa is persuaded that they need to leave the country immediately.

"Lisa needs to make sure Betsy's safe ? that's her priority," explains Vicky. "When it seems like Curtis' gang has ramped up the threat significantly ? and because of the most recent attack and the intensity of it ? Lisa has to get Becky and Betsy out of there quickly."

Lisa's suspicions are raised slightly by Becky's insistence that they hand over their phones, yet she goes along with it. Before long, the trio are headed for the ferry ? but with Lisa unaware that Becky has been holding Carla hostage, she's oblivious to the danger they're in.

"Lisa has absolutely no idea what Becky's capable of," teases Vicky. "The last person Lisa's expecting to hear from is Carla. To hear her voice - the happiness, joy and relief.

"She doesn't keep that from Becky because she doesn't know about Becky's involvement. Then Lisa hears what's been happening, and the reaction is devastating?"

The phone call from Carla causes the tension in the car to explode as the truth of Becky's evil campaign comes to light. As Becky loses control of the vehicle, the horrific chain of events begins.

But will Becky evade justice for her twisted games? And will Swarla be reunited ? or tragically torn apart?

Coronation Street's Carla Connor teams up with Kit Green on a desperate mission to save her family next week. Her bold move comes just as Carla's fianc?e Lisa Swain and future stepdaughter Betsy are on a collision course for disaster in the Corriedale crossover episode.

Following the terror of being held captive by Becky, determined Carla is back in the thick of the action after she's found by Kit, who's been suspicious over her whereabouts for several days. And there's not a moment to waste, as they race towards the carnage?

"Carla is desperate to stop Becky from leaving the country with Lisa," explains Alison King, who plays Carla.

"She's telling Kit, 'Go, go go ? get them!' She wants to reach them as fast as possible."

After Kit realises that Becky is heading for Rotterdam, he and Carla set off for the port in Hull as she makes a desperate call to Lisa.

Yet, it's Carla's call that prompts unhinged Becky to take her eyes off the road and spark the crash?

"Carla hears the collision and it's awful," reveals Alison. "She's been through such a huge ordeal, but the moment she hears that crash, everything disappears.

"She just wants to get to Lisa and Betsy, and is terrified about what she might find."

As Carla and Kit arrive at the scene, they immediately spring into action to rescue those trapped in the chaos ? just as detective Kit happens to spot Emmerdale fugitive John Sugden.

Will he manage to apprehend the killer? And who won't survive the crash disaster?

Corriedale sees the worlds of Coronation Street and Emmerdale collide for the first time as the multi-vehicle crash on a dark road brings in characters from both soaps.

"We started off with a shopping list of what's the best things that can happen in a soap," executive producer Iain MacLeod recently told us. "From pregnancy reveals to murderer reveals to affair reveals, and we literally just put the shopping list down and went: 'Wouldn't it be great if we could get every single one of these things into an episode? Would that not be like the best episode of soap you've ever seen?'

"And we had a flaming good go, let me say. We wanted to showcase the best of our storytelling, the best of our technical craft, both the production teams, the crew, everybody behind the scenes. It's absolutely stunning."

Apparently, she is anew character being introduced for the Corriedale episode.

I do not know that.. not seen any news about it.. but I thought it was strange for them to use the name Jodie when so far we have not been introduced to the new character.. maybe paramedic or police officer attending the accident scene?

Coronation Street fans see Todd Grimshaw's desperate bid for freedom screech to a halt on Corriedale next week, when the minibus carrying him to safety explodes into a deadly fireball ? and not everyone will make it out alive.

But there's an even bigger threat to their last-minute bolt for survival when Theo Silverton also boards the bus with Todd and Billy Mayhew?

"Tension is high!" warns actor Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd. "Todd is escaping potentially a life-or-death situation in the first place, and then they run into another. All three of them are injured?"

After discovering Todd's horrific bruises at the hand of Theo, Billy offers to help Todd get home from Debbie Webster and Ronnie Bailey's wedding and collect his things while his abusive boyfriend is out. However, right at the moment they're about to leave, Theo joins them with his suitcase.

"It's like a horror film!" declares Gareth. "Todd and Billy look like they're getting to the exit door, on the road out of hell and then the monster pulls them back in when Theo gets on the minibus. Viewers will feel that sinking feeling."

The nightmare is just beginning for the other wedding guests aboard the vehicle, too, as the minibus skids on the wet road, colliding with another vehicle in a horror crash!

As the flames soar, the injured wedding guests ? including the pregnant Shona Platt ? fight to get out. But who will survive?

Corriedale is a one-hour crossover episode which sees the worlds of Coronation Street and Emmerdale collide for the first time. The special event marks the beginning of ITV's new soap power hour, which will see Emmerdale and Corrie each air one 30-minute episode each weeknight from next week.

"We started off with a shopping list of what's the best things that can happen in a soap," ITV soap boss Iain MacLeod recently told us. "From pregnancy reveals to murderer reveals to affair reveals.

"We literally just put the shopping list down and went, 'wouldn't it be great if we could get every single one of these things into an episode? Would that not be like the best episode of soap you've ever seen?'

"And we had a flaming good go, let me say. We wanted to showcase the best of our storytelling, the best of our technical craft, both the production teams, the crew, everybody behind the scenes.

"It's absolutely stunning and if anyone has the temerity to look down their nose at soap as a genre after watching that, then I'll be writing them a sternly worded letter!"

Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans will be left baffled next week, as a mystery woman plays an intriguing role in the Corriedale special. But who is she ? and how will she affect our soap favourites moving forward?

Fans are bracing themselves for high drama as the worlds of Corrie and Emmerdale collide for the first time ever, in a special episode airing on Monday 5 January. The one-off crossover centres around a multi-vehicle crash on a remote road.

In all the confusion of the crash, it's chaos on the road as traffic builds up near the site.

While viewers wait to learn the fates of those involved in the collision, a van pulls up and comes to a stop. The driver looks to the back of the vehicle where a woman is tied up, clearly terrified for her life.

Who is this mysterious person, and why has she been bundled into the back of a van? Could this be connected to Celia Daniels' human trafficking operation now that her son Ray Walters has ended her reign of terror?

Could it be April Windsor, who is set to return to the village after a mysterious absence? Or a new character entirely?

Get ready for a game-changing shock when their identity is eventually revealed?

Corrie and Emmerdale fans have already been speculating over the involvement of a soap newbie after the Corriedale cast list was officially announced last month.

40 existing characters from both soaps are involved in the special, along with a surprise wildcard ? Jodie, played by Olivia Frances-Brown.

Jodie hasn't appeared on our screens before, but was mysteriously included in the Corrie section of the Corriedale cast list. All will be revealed?

ITV soap bosses have been ramping up the excitement levels ahead of Corriedale next week. The hour-long special airs on Monday (5 January), straight after regular episodes of Emmerdale and Corrie, and marks the beginning of a new era. From the following day (6 January), both soaps will air five 30-minute episodes per week in an 8pm "soap power hour" slot.

"The new commissioning pattern is viewer-led. We already give more choice than ever to viewers on how they watch us through ITVX and we want to present their favourite soap to them in the most digestible way," ITV boss Kevin Lygo explained last year.

"In a world where there is so much competition for viewers' time and attention, and viewing habits continue to change, we believe this is the right amount of episodes that fans can fit into their viewing schedule, to keep up to date with the shows."
